Memories Of The Sun - Chapter 26 Chapter Twenty Five
By Prescoviah Merilyn
Chapter twenty two.
In deem light, I cuddle with my husband, as Anne Marie’s 2002 plays in the background. With him, it’s a little touch of heaven as we warm together. His arms are wrapped around me bringing me peace I have never known before, calming all storms in my heart, making me forget about everything tragic that has ever happened. My darkest memories of the sun.
Having him now, gives me hope for the future. I can lense through tomorrow. In his embrace, I start to believe that there is nothing out there to fear. Not ****, betrayal, separation or depression. Absolutely nothing.
Perhaps this all I ever wanted. This all that matters in life…a family, true love, amazing children, reunions, someone who looks at you like a trophy…someone who works hard to have you. He gives me hope that the world has only sunshine, springs, warmth, beautiful trees and kind people, friends to be. With him I have hope for my children, that it will all be okay. That all good will come. That I know what tomorrow, holds.
He was my medicine in darkest times. When I lost my best friend, he became one. When I hated Koboko, he gave me a reason to live. And as of now, I want the twins to visit these villages, adventure, meet new people, genuine kind people and maybe find love.
I pass my fingers along his abs. He is still the same like when I first touched him.
“What are you thinking about?” He asks quietly
“If you still think am pretty, after all these years” He laughs.
“Vanessa… Vanitowhat are you? just twenty four!” What the heck?
“Don’t you dare call me that!” I warn him, shooting my second finger in the air.
“You are beautiful”
“You think so?”
“You are so beautiful.” I can’t help a smile. Do women ever get tired of compliments? Nope.
Eleanor joins us in bed, lying on her dad’s chest.
“Mommy, Auntie and Uncle Jonny are waiting for outside.” She looks at my bare tummy.
“Mummy is the baby in there?”
“yeah, want to touch it? Come on” she comes rubbing my tummy as Simeon enjoys the show?
When she finally speaks, I want to run for the hills.
“Mommy, how do they make real babies?”
We head out meeting Ashanti, Jonny ,Hope ,Kelly, Shanon, Fake glasses and Sam. The children keep playing in the sand as Simeon holds my hand, as I squeeze Ashanti’s.
Looking at everyone as of now, I can’t believe the far we have come, my beautiful husband, my gorgeous best friend, our amazing children, my co-workers who have become family. Everything now falls into place, with my greatest memories of the sun.
THE END.
