Memories Of Us - Chapter 1 Waking Up
She heard a giggling sound, it was indistinct like it came from a really far away place. She turned her head and saw a boy in his teens, waving his hand as if calling her. She can’t see his face, but she started to run and kept running towards the boy, but she could never get close to him. Then she saw a blinding white light that engulfed the boy body. She wanted to scream, but no sound could be heard.
She suddenly felt like she was enveloped in a thick and black cloud. She could not see nor hear anything. Her eyes closed and she struggled to open them to no avail. She could only feel the heaviness in her whole body and she can not move. She tried hard but she can’t even move a finger. Then, she started to hear buzzing noises. The sound of the clicking of feet and a whisper.
Suddenly she woke up as if she was waking up from a really bad dream, her back soaked with cold sweat. Her heart beats rapidly. She felt the unbearable pain in her head, so intense that she can’t help letting out a groan.
“You wake up?” A man in his mid-twenties came into her sight. Although her gaze a bit blurry, she could still see that he was a tall and handsome man. After the intense pain subsides, she looked at him blankly from her hospital bed, with no flicker of recognition in her eyes.
“Who are you?” She asked with vigilance clearly written on her face. Her eyes flickering around the room. She was really confused and scared because she can’t recall anything at all.
He said, “I’m your lover.” His eyes revealing a sad and hurt look.
“Lover? Us?” She did not know whether to believe him or not. She narrowed her eyes and looked at him suspiciously. She had no recollection pertaining the person in front of her at all. “Sorry, I can’t remember you.”
“It’s okay. I already knew, the doctor said that you will probably lose your memories when you woke up,” he said bitterly. She did not know why, but she felt that she must not trust this man at all.
“Where am I? Why am I here?” She looked around the room. The room painted white and the floor is simply gray. At the far end of the room are windows in silver metal frames and a navy blue door. On the table beside the bed, there were white roses put in a nice vase.
“Hospital. You were in a coma for a month now.” He answered her question shortly, without explaining anything.
“What is my name?” She asked after thinking for a bit. She can’t even remember who she is.
“Your name is Sienna Ross. Good thing I brought your identity card. Here, check it,” he gave Sienna an identity card. She knew from the information written there that she was already twenty four years old.
“What is your name?” She asked after verifying her identity.
“Charles. I’m Charles Morse.” The man said then he walked a step closer to her. Sienna was so startled, she backed away to the end of the bed. Charles looked hurt, but he decided to steps back again.
“No need to be worried, I won’t do anything to you. I’m just glad to see you wake up again. I’ll call the doctor, do a checkup then let’s go home,” he said with a slight smile.
After Charles left, a few minutes later a man in his forties with a white coat comes in. He asked a bunch of questions which she answered mostly with ‘I don’t know’, ‘I don’t feel hurt’, ‘I feel normal’. She also had to put up a strange machine on her head and a bunch of other tests which she endured silently. The checkup finished in almost two hours.
She changed into the clothes that Charles prepared for her before. It was a short and simple white dress with laces decorated the hem of the dress. When she walked out of the hospital main door, she saw Charles leaned in front of a black car, waiting for her with a bucket of roses in his hand.
“Congrats on getting out from the hospital. Here, for you,” he congratulated her when he saw Sienna walking towards him and gave her the roses. Sienna took it expressionlessly.
“I already paid all the necessary bill. Let’s go,” Charles said.
“Where to?” She asked. She can’t remember anything, so she could only depend on Charles.
“My house of course,” Charles answered casually. Sienna narrowed her eyes, “Why would we go to your house? I want to go to my house.”
“Didn’t I say we are lovers? We are engaged. Look,” he raised his left hand. On his fourth finger, there was a beautiful silver colored ring with a diamond embedded in the center of the ring. She realized that it was the same model with the ring she wore on her left hand.
“Did I stay at your house before? What about my house?” She frowned and asked again, unconvinced.
“You already lived with me for five years. Your house? Well, it was in another city, and you already rented it to someone else. You can’t go back there anyway.” He said while ruffling Sienna’s hair, his eyes full of affection.
But Sienna didn’t feel good, she slapped his hand and glared at him. “Don’t touch me.” She said coldly. Charles shook his head, feeling resigned. He then opened the car door, to let Sienna go into the car first before he entered the car from opposite door.
They rode the car for an hour and a half. Charles lived in ‘The Eden’ residential area. The houses around this complex were huge, each has their own garden, filling up a large area. It looked like only rich people can live here. Charles house was one of the biggest house around this area. It was a three stories house with modern architecture, and it was occupying a large area.
The car drove slowly through the gate. The chauffeur dropped both of them right in front of the main door. A butler already waiting there, ready to help Sienna with her things. She didn’t actually bring a lot, only a small bag of clothes and a bucket of roses that Charles gave her before.
Charles told the butler to just prepare for dinner. He took Sienna’s thing then lead her to her room.
“You live on the second floor, while I live on the third floor. You can come to find me if you need anything,” he said when they got into the second floor.
Charles opened one of the room doors on the second floor. It was quite a big room. In the middle of the room was a king size bed, with a sparkling white bed sheet. The curtain was the color of cotton white, fringed with lace and stretched right to the floor. It framed the window perfectly. The white wall decorated with beautiful painting. The furniture in the room mainly white or black color.
Sienna looked around the room. It was a nice room, but she can’t feel a sense of familiarity at all even though Charles said she lived here for five years.
“Like it?” Charles asked with a smile on his face.
“I don’t know. Okay, I guess? It was my room after all,” Sienna said flatly. Charles could only smile and brought her to the dining area on this second floor to have their dinner.
