Memories Of Us - Chapter 11 Vacation 2
The villa that Charles bought was a two stories villa with swimming pool that faced the ocean directly. They could just sit on the veranda and enjoy ocean view because their villa has the best view and really close to the beach, it only took around ten minutes to reach the beach.
It was already afternoon when they arrived at the villa. They were welcomed by two middle-aged maids as soon as they get off the car. The maids were the ones who were responsible to clean and cook at the villa.
“Do you want to take a walk or just rest first?” Charles asked Sienna when they just finished unloading the bags from the car and put them in their own room. Charles looked tired after the long journey, but it didn’t make him look any less charming.
Sienna looked at the watch on her wrist showing that it was six past twenty. After thinking for a brief second, she said, “Let’s take a short walk. I’m not that tired anyway.” She already saw the scenery on the way to the villa and honestly can’t help but feel awed by the beautiful view. It would be a pity to just let this time go.
“Okay,” Charles nodded his head, showing his agreement. Sienna took a beach hat from her bag and went out with a pair of slipper. They both walked side by side without uttering a single word, enjoying the beautiful scenery. It was not a holiday season, so the beach was quiet with only a few people.
The weather was perfectly fine with a light breeze. The horizon was painted with orange, yellow, and pink color with the bright orange sun about to hit the sea water, completing the beautiful scene.
“So this is how it looked like when the sun set at the beach. It’s so beautiful that it looks like a painting,” Sienna said in amazement while turning around to look at Charles. Her eyes sparkled with excitement.
“Yes, it is,” Charles said while looking at Sienna with a gentle gaze. You could even see the love practically spewing from his eyes -but also full of obsessiveness. The eyes that never failed to make Sienna felt overwhelmed by it. Sienna always felt that she could never be able to get used to this.
Sienna averted her gaze rapidly. She felt that a thread of guilty feelings slowly building up in her heart. She felt bad because she can’t give anything back to him -at least for now. She was sure that she is slowly changing her mindset about Charles, for example how she didn’t put her guard up every time Charles talked to her, or how she could trust Charles a little more.
“I’m tired, let’s just go back and eat something,” Sienna said while turning to walk to the villa.
“Okay. I’m hungry too. Let’s just go to the beach again tomorrow morning, we have plenty of times.” They both walked in silence to the villa. It was so awkward it made Sienna felt suffocated.
“I already asked the maid to prepare our dinner before we go, but because we get back too fast maybe they haven’t finished anything yet,” said Charles when they arrived at the villa.
“It’s okay, I’ll rest in my room. Call me when dinner is ready,” Sienna said while walking away to her room.
“Sienna.”
“Yes?”
“If you really feel uncomfortable with me, just tell me.”
“…. Sorry, I was just..”
“It’s okay. I understand that it takes time.”
“Yeah.. I’m.. gonna go rest first then.”
“Okay, I’ll call when dinner is ready.”
Dinner was served 30 minutes later. It was only the two of them eating at the balcony. The light breeze obediently accompanied their dinner. The two maids set up the dining table with beautiful flowers and candles. It would be a romantic night if only both of them didn’t get into such an awkward atmosphere. Both of them ate in silence and only the clinking sound of forks and knives can be heard.
“Do you like the dinner? I think the maids did a really good job with this steak. And this wine really goes well with the steak,” Charles started the conversation after the 30 minutes of awkward silence. He had finished his food and now sipping his wine leisurely.
“It’s good. I read that the older the wine is, the better it tastes,” Sienna answered after gulping her wine.
“Yes, it is. And stop gulping your wine. Don’t drink too much, you are never good with alcohol.”
“I’m not~” Sienna answered with a note cuter than usual.
“.. you are drunk. Just how much did you drink already?”
“What? Nooo. I only drink 2 glasses. It’s not like I drink the whole bottle!” Sienna answered with a giggle. Charles was speechless. They only sat for around 30 minutes and Sienna was drunk already.
“Isn’t it too early to get drunk? Let’s go inside, you need to rest.”
“No! I’m not tired yet!” Sienna walked to the balcony railing and watched as the stars twinkling in the sky.
“Woahh so many stars. They are really pretty. I couldn’t see them clearly back at my room.”
“That’s because the air here is clearer. You love it here?”
“I love it. It’s beautiful. I feel happy, and it’s calming,” Sienna answered while looking straight to Charles beautiful eyes. The longer she looked, the more she felt the power behind those eyes. It was the first time she realized this and she felt like her soul getting sucked inside. Sienna held one of Charles’s hand with her both hands.
“Sorry for before. I know I’m being unreasonable. But I just feel like I can’t handle your love for now. It’s overwhelming me. And you know how I lose all of my memories, I’m just scared, I’m sorry, I’m scared Charles, it’s scaring me to wake up without knowing anything,” Sienna said sorrowfully with her eyes wet with tears.
Charles felt his heart being torn apart. He touched Sienna’s cheek with his other hand and kissed her forehead gently. “I know, don’t be sorry. I’m sorry for being too aggressive. Take your time, honey. Let’s just go inside, okay? You need to rest.”
