Memories Of Us - Chapter 14 Falling
Sienna stood at the white expanse of a room. Nothing was in the room as far as she can she, only the white ceiling, the white wall, and while tiles were present. Her view was hazy because the room was filled with thin fog. She didn’t know why she was there or how she got there. She walked around only to find nothing behind the slightly thicker part of the fog.
“Sienna,” a voice called from behind her. She knew the voice, so she turned back and she was right, because she saw the mysterious man wearing all white, walking out of the fog not far from her with a disappointed face. She wanted to ask what made him looked so disappointed, but her voice won’t come out when she tried to.
“Why are you forgetting me?” he yelled, now his face painted with an angry expression. Sienna was baffled and she just stood there, not knowing what to do. She suffered from an accident and it’s not like she volunteered to erase her memory of him. If she can choose, she would also want to keep her memory intact.
“Yes, you even forgot about us.” The voice was soft, almost as if the owner’s heart will shatter anytime. She turned to the direction of the voice and her pupil shrank as she recognized the faces stood there. It was her mother and father. Tears threatening to spill from the corner of her eyes, she raised her trembling hand to cover her mouth.
“Yes you are forgetting us too!” Another angry scream joining in. Sienna recognized them as her best friends.
“This is all your fault.” The mysterious man screamed again, accusing her with his index finger pointed at her. Sienna was scared, her heart beating so fast and her face already covered in stream of tears. She shook her head, trying to express that she didn’t do anything bad to him and can’t be held accountable for the mistakes she didn’t do.
But with this scream, another group of people joining in and the screams overlapped with each other. It soon turned to be a complete chaos. Sienna can’t even hear what they screamed about anymore. She looked around, terror-stricken. She covered her ears with both hands and squat down, closing her eyes. She wanted to scream for them to stop shouting, but she can’t. She still can’t find her voice.
After a while, the voices stopped. Sienna opened her eyes, looking around at the now empty room. She felt relieved that they were gone.
“Sienna,” the voice that has been accompanied her for the past few weeks, heard from behind her. She was about to turn around, but she stopped herself and hesitated. She remember how every single person looking at her disappointedly, and she didn’t want to see the disappointed look of Charles.
“Sienna, look at me,” he called again. Sienna took a deep breath, she braced herself and looked at Charles. Contrary to what she was expecting, Charles smiled. He stepped closer, caressed her hair, and tucked the stray hair behind her ear as gentle as ever. He came closer to Sienna’s ear and whispered, “Don’t worry, I’ll stay with you forever.” Sienna shivered, Charles’s hot breath causing goosebumps appeared on the back of her neck.
“You are mine, right?”
Sienna woke up feeling horrible. Her body felt heavy and she was drenched in sweat. She felt that she just had nightmares but she couldn’t remember anything.
“Water,” her voice sounded hoarse. Someone placed a glass of water on her hand when she raised her hand up. She knew it was Charles, so she took the glass, gulped the water rapidly, and thanked Charles after emptying the glass.
“Thank you. I feel better now.”
“Your temperature is back to normal now. I think we can still catch today’s flight. Are you okay with that? Or do you want to rest more?” Charles gave her the thermometer that showed her normal temperature and took the glass from Sienna’s hand.
“I’m okay now. I’ll get ready and pack my things.”
“Don’t worry, I have already packed yours. Take a bath first, and we’ll eat breakfast together after that. I already told the maid to prepare the warm bath for you.” Sienna nodded weakly, her body felt sticky and she can’t wait to quickly change into clean set of clothes.

“Welcome back, Master and Miss Sienna,” the butler greeted them when they arrived at Charles’s house. Sienna nodded, she felt really tired and all she wanted was some sleep. Charles told the maids to bring their luggage to their room and he escorted Sienna to her room.
“Have a good rest,” Charles kissed Sienna’s forehead and left to his own room.

Sienna was so tired she slept for 12 hours straight. She almost jumped when she saw the time was already nearing 10 AM.
“Why aren’t you waking me up?” Sienna asked when they have their late breakfast. Might as well called it lunch as it was 11 AM already by the time she they sat for “breakfast”.
“I did. But you aren’t waking up, so I just let you sleep for a bit longer.” Charles said, after he sipped on his black coffee.
“Then you should have eaten your own breakfast, no need to wait for me.”
“We don’t have much time together anymore after I go back to work, remember? Tomorrow I have to go back to work and I don’t know if we could continue this. Do you want to go somewhere today?”
Sienna pondered for a bit before answering, “No. I want to stay at home and read some books instead.”
“Okay then.”
“Are you going somewhere?” Sienna asked, seeing that Charles used a perfectly ironed shirt with black trousers. His hair slicked back and Sienna always thought that he looked especially attractive in black and white.
“I have to manage some business after this. It won’t take long, I’ll be back before 5, or maybe even earlier.” Charles assured.
“Why did you ask me if you have somewhere to go, then?” asked Sienna curiously.
“So I could cancel the meeting and just go with you if you want.” Charles answered nonchalantly. He was still focused on his iPad. Sienna sometimes wondered how Charles felt like a different person at some occasions. One time he was obsessed and other time he looked like he didn’t care about her at all. She wondered if it was only her imagination.
“Can I go alone?”
“No. I wouldn’t want my fiance to be in any danger outside my reach. I let you get hurt once, and I’ll never ever let you again,” Charles held Sienna’s hand tight. She knew that Charles is a possessive person, and she knew he cared for her, but it was too much that his devotion was bordering on obsession. Or perhaps it was already inside the zone of obsession. He was possessive and obsessive at the same time. Sienna could she how wrong this relationship is. She wondered what did she do that dragged her into this. She didn’t want to admit it, but she found that she got sucked into Charles little by little. Deep down she knew that she shouldn’t get swayed, trusting her instinct that has been screaming at her, and keep her heart locked. But she also get tired and lonely.
“I guess I’ll wait till you get home. Then you could accompany me to the nearest store.” Sienna relented. She could almost see the invisible crack on her defense.
“Of course. I’ll get home as fast as I can.” Sienna thought that she just saw his most charming smile it was devilish.
