Men Vs Apocalypse - Chapter 10
The shot into the goblin’s head woke Feng and Raizan out of their daze. They never saw such a monster before, they could not comprehend a quiet silent night became a night filled with horrors. Sen took out the USB looking crystal and press the USB slot towards Feng’s right palm. The crystal emitted a whitish glow which lighted the office momentarily before disappearing in front of them. Feng then saw a digital screen floating in front of him.
-Do you wish to be extraordinary?-
A ‘Yes’ and ‘No’ option appeared right below the question and it was blinking as if it is on a timer. Feng looked at Sen nervously but all Sen gave was a determined look. Feng nodded and pressed the Yes button.
-Congratulations! You will receive your powers in a few seconds-
Feng radiated azure in colour and a old looking hammer appeared in front of him. “Isn’t this my master’s hammer before he disappeared two years ago?” Sen kept quiet as he let Feng basked in the few moments of nostalgia. Feng then grabbed the hammer and he felt power seems to be seeping through his whole body.
Raizan was bewildered by the current scene. “Didn’t Sen said all he had was possession magic? Now he has a sort of creation magic as well?” He thought to himself that this could be a whole new discovery in the history of magic!
After Feng collected his thoughts, he felt amazed by the knowledge and strength he had received. He realised that this is what he is meant to be, a Battle Smith. Sen knows that Feng was an apprentice to a blacksmith a few years back.
The blacksmith was notorious for making Feng work doubly hard and was extremely harsh towards Feng’s training. However with the advent of steam-crystal technology and mass produced weapons, most blacksmiths are unable to keep up with it and subsequently the profession nearly wither out. The remaining ones did miscellaneous repairs or parts.
Unfortunately, the blacksmith that taught Feng kept insisting to create weapons and armour which people do not use any longer. Feng decided to be an apprentice mainly due to the decent wage which the old blacksmith pays regularly to Feng as long as he maintained his training.
Feng thought that the part time job can be used to feed his family and train his physique for other jobs in the future. Sen later found out in Feng’s character sheet that he was not working as a Blacksmith apprentice but as a Battle smith apprentice.
After acquiring a portion of the system’s power, Feng felt that Sen suddenly became an extraordinary person. After been saved twice and receiving such ‘magical’ abilities from him, Feng did not need to ask why Sen kept quiet all along but to faithfully follow Sen’s orders.
“What has happened to you, Private (PTE) Feng?” Raizan queried. Feng kept quiet and directed Sen to allow him to borrow his rifle. Sen naturally agreed so Feng took the rifle and placed it on the desk. He took his hammer and started pounding onto the rifle.
A glow appeared each time he pounded the rifle. The glow was radiantly bright and after a few poundings, two exact replicas appeared beside the existing rifle.
“Isn’t this one actions of the mythical professions, Battle Smith?!” Major Raizan was yet again astounded. “I had read about it in the ancient records in the Red Sun Library of High Secrets. It was said that ancient civilisations were able to wield abilities called magicks instead of magic which we are now using with aid of Fate Crystals.
One of the respected professions which utilised magicks was the battle smith. Legendary Battle Smiths can create anything from nothing, turning the tide of wars!”
“What Raizan said was partially incorrect. The battle smiths did not entirely die out in the current Earth Plane. A number of them live in seclusion hoping to pass their knowledge to someone worthy of their art.
Most expert battle smiths can create items on the spot without materials by using the traces of magical energy in the vicinity. Feng is currently a neophyte battle smith hence this outstanding system of yours had placed a reliable source of magic within his hammer to aid him in his journey to be the Saviour Battle Smith.” The system interrupted Sen’s train of thought.
“My current creation can only last 30 minutes or so but it should be able to replicate Sen’s weapon to help us with this current hellhole that we are in.” Feng tossed the rifle towards Raizan and check the replica that he created.
“Well, I do not supposed you can replicate ammunition as well? Six bullets will not help much judging from the sounds we are hearing outside.” Raizan checked the rifle he was holding similar to what every soldier will do when they received their arms.
“Do not have to worry about ammunition, I ehhh had previously imbued my rifle with my magic as well.to never empty.” Sen spoke out in hesitation.
“Lance Corporal (LCP) Sen, your presence seems to never bring a dull moment. We will discuss this thoroughly once the circumstances allow us to do so. Since you seem to be know what we are facing and the current situation we are in, brief us on what to do. I am giving you my permission to use me at your disposal. ” Raizan kneeled down as he spoke while inspecting the dead goblin corpse.
“Thank you Major, I appreciate that a lot.” Sen took a deep breath before saying what was needed.
“MAJ Raizan and PTE Feng, if I am not mistaken, we are currently still in the village town of Hongshan but of a different plane or era if u like to put it that way. I believe as soldiers, our duty is to help the innocents that are now currently suffering the onslaught of monsters called goblins.
I do not know whether if there are differing types of monsters that are accompanying the goblins. Perhaps we can assist the current town guard with the attack if there are any or if there are still any left.”
“Seems fine with me. As a soldier, defending the people is a priority.” Feng spoke out with strength.
“Hahahaha, such youth, such passion to the country. It had been a long time since I did actual combat so I do not mind. Besides, I am looking forward to a few guinea pigs to experiment which do not need the constant approval from that stupid boss of mine.” Raizan grinned.
“Alright, let’s move out!” Sen commanded but as they got out of the office and into the village hall’s reception area, they already find themselves in a tightspot.
A mountain troll splitting a lightly armoured guard into two pieces like breaking a loaf of bread in front of a group of frightened guards and villagers.
