Men Vs Apocalypse - Chapter 34
Sen checked decided to dig further into Ken’s magical bag of holding as he believed there should more than what they found. Meanwhile Feng and Mailee went ahead to loot the dead bison mages. Raizan started creating a few more ball sized drones to quicken the production of items that they wished to make.
“Master, even when fighting with Ken, you are not as determined as how you are acting right now in order to find for more spoils.” Nes laughed.
“Well, he was a chosen champion, I do not believe that all he had were these crappy weapons and armour which the System judged is mediocre at best.” Sen continued to dig through the bag. He previously asked the System to helped him identify most of the loot he found. There were some advanced plate and leather armour which can be used as the foundation of the new body vest which Raizan was planning to create. The armour plates had high fire resistance properties which can be useful during the raid of the capital. The weapons had some magical power in it but the System rated it as uncommon item, nothing fanciful.
“Well, if you pay me 10 Fate crystals, I can unlock the bag for you. Special offer because you are such a hardworking master.” Nes gave a wink and Sen immediately approved of the transaction.
Nes whispered a spell upon receiving the crystals and the bag starts to vibrate. “Oh no, Master, I think you should move away!”
Sen quickly let go of the bag and threw it into the crater which was now empty. The bag suddenly vomited out a heap of fate crystals of the fire affinity. The quantity of fire fate crystals immediately upset the temperature of the desert, causing the surroundings to be burning hot.
Raizan rushed towards the crater with his jaw open. He looked at the amount and analysed the pile. “Most of them are high quality fate crystals! However, there is no way we can carry this around and I think the magical bag has been damaged by your tinkering Sen.” Raizan seem troubled. Among the heap of crystals, there were a number of items there that seems to stand out.
Before looking at the items, Sen asked the System if there was any exchange of crystals to system issued ones. “Yes User, there is a crystal exchange function. The crystals amount to 1930 pieces and can be exchange for 193 Fate crystals. Are you willing to do the exchange?”
With Sen’s keen senses, he felt a slight tremor along with the appearance of the fate crystals. Suddenly, a stroke of inspiration came into Sen but he reacted first before any trouble appears.
“Go ahead but leave five of the highest quality pieces to us.” Sen commanded which the system immediately took 1925 pieces and gave 192 All Element fate crystals. Sen suddenly felt his magic increased a little and the System took the initiative to reply. “The system issued crystals in compliance to a certain standard. Hence, the 1920 crystals were converted. The remaining crystals were utilised to increase the magical ability of the User.”
Raizan stared at Sen with his hands folded as the crystals disappeared right in front of him. “Sen, what did you do.”
“Eh…remember the radiant fate crystal you guys used just now? I kind of…converted them to those fate crystals, I assumed they will be useful for the fight since they might appear again.” Sen bitterly laughed and cough a little.
“Speaking of Void magic, System, care to explain more?” Sen questioned once more.
“I will explain this Master. The Void magic is a specific class of magic that the Apocalypse Lords or Apoca Lords as how we termed them, possessed it. The Void magic cannot be learned in any way other than being an Apoca Lord.” Nes started to explain as Sen went down the crater to pick up the items left when the magical bag poured out its content.
Raizan turned back his focus to the 3D printing production and started to look at the armour plates that Sen gave him. Upon seeing the plates, he started to have a few ideas in mind for the design of the protective vest.
“However that does not mean the Apoca Lords cannot transfer their magic into crystals for people to use. As stated by the system before, the Void magic negates nearly all form of magic except for high level Light and Darkness magic. Your current plane assumed that Light magic users are useless mainly because your race did not reach the pinnacle of Light Magic. Much less for Darkness users.”
“I thought there were a few Seventh Gate Light users in our Earth plane?” Sen tried to recall the knowledge he learned in school. “Those Seven Gate Light users were specialised in manipulation of magic according to the data the System gave me to peruse. For example, they can manipulate the incantations of a Third Gate ‘Spear of Light’ to a Fifth Gate spell. They did not push the limits of Light spells to the maximum.”
“Anyways, we digressed. With the appearance of Void magic, you had first hand experience of the threat of apocalypse. The advent of fate crystals is the planes’ response towards the threat of apocalypse. However, some of the planes that found the fate crystals did not know its purpose and fought only for powers.”
“If I were to give a comparison to the threat of apocalypse is like the Wyld Hunt in the ancient days you learnt in school. The Wyld Hunt was not a just a legend but it was indeed lead by a rogue Apocalypse lord and his army. He did not follow the rules of engagement by the laws of the planes and hence a saviour was immediately appointed to save the Earth plane.”
“So the system is actually the will of the planes to grow a saviour against the Apocalypse Lords?” Sen was a little dumbfounded upon learning the truth.
“Yes Master. It was an unspoken rule of engagement that the plane have to nurture a saviour against the upcoming destruction. If the saviour prevails, the planes will continue on or else the plane energy and resources are conquered and taken by the Apoca Lords.”
“Does that mean this happened before since you were able to provide such an explicit answer?”
“Indeed, while this might sound as a surprise to you, there are other planets similar to this planet. Some of them the Plane’s saviour prevailed, while others were destroyed by by the apocalypse Lords. The will of the planes differed with different planets but the concept is the same.” Nes replied honestly.
“In fact Master, I am a being of the another planet who failed the advancement of apocalypse. Our Saviour was not able to stop them. His last wish was to aid other planets with our experience since the systems differ with each planet but the methods of the Apoca Lords are similar.”
Nes eyes appeared watery as she spoke about the issue but she held back as much as she could.
Sen suddenly felt the gravity of the situation. All those missions that the System gave was to prepare him for the final showdown against the Apocalypse Lords. The System probably has its reasons to bring him to face such absurd circumstances. Sen pat Nes on her head and wiped the tear away from her face.
He picked up the items that was lying around after the disappearance of the fire fate crystals. After which, he met up with Feng and Mailee to consolidate all the loot they have found. Mailee found a working magical bag of holding from one of the bison mages and used it for herself. The trio unanimously agree that she gets all the gold since it is of no use to them.
Sen showed all the items he found and Mailee choked upon seeing those items. “Those are all items that belonged to the past Shiva chosen champions! I remembered because I saw them using it during parade fights.” Mailee nearly squeaked in excitement.
“Use them Mailee, you probably have the best affinity to Ice among all of us.” Raizan asserted.
“I probably borrow the sword, that light armour and some accessories, I do not have expertise to use the other weapons and I am not experienced handling heavy armour. I would like to keep the rest though, might not know when they would be useful. If we survive…I will return them to the Ice Clan.” Mailee solemnly expressed her opinions on the various champion items.
“I guess, the rest that we salvaged are useless equipment? I shall use them as parts for our equipment?” Raizan asked the others and they nodded.
Raizan consulted with Feng on some design issues with regards to the new equipment. Feng’s reading during the jeep was not a waste. He learned a new skill called ‘Imbue’ which allowed him to create or transfer various magical properties into a new item permanently.
Both of them created four new defensive vest that are surprisingly light, flexible and thin. Feng imbued the four fire fate crystal’s properties into the vests, giving the wearer a higher resistance to fire. Mailee was even able to wear the vest under Shiva’s Champion’s light armour with ease.
Raizan was able to recreate the trench shotgun that Feng managed to salvage from the remnants of the jeep. However, the trench shotgun was enhanced with accessories such as a reflex sight optics for higher accuracy while aiming, an angled grip for better handling and a well built stock to handle the recoil. Feng took the last fire fate crystal and imbued on his shotgun giving it the ability to act as a flamethrower for a period of time before a cooldown happens.
Sen picked up the shotgun to have a feel and was amazed by the remade trench shotgun. However, he knew this was just a short term solution for Feng’s lack of firepower. “System, can I make this shotgun a Saviour weapon for Feng? The threat of the Apocalypse Lords are looming.”
“Yes User, Feng and Raizan both have a main weapon slot that has yet to be filled. Are you sure you wish to use this slot for Feng?” The system asked.
“Feng, how do you feel about this shotgun as a weapon?” Sen asked.
“I liked it alot, besides I was trained to use the shotgun as an additional weapon in the conscript training since I excelled in shooting.” Feng boosted a little.
“Yeah, System just do it.” Sen replied to the system and the shotgun that Sen was using disappeared and appeared on Feng’s hand with a small bullet pouch. This time, the trench shotgun was remodelled to have a shorter barrel and it had a sleek black carbon look while retaining the remodelling. When Feng tried to aim around with it, he felt that he was fated with the shotgun.
“Sen my brother, I do not know what you did but you are the best bud I ever have.” Feng was so thrilled to have it in his hands.
“The bullet pouch provides the required ammunition for the Saviour-F870 as long as Feng sustain magic to the pouch, all modifications done were retained.” The system showed the details to Feng in a screen while telling Sen about it.
For Raizan, he created an amplifier and focusing enhancement parts for his gauntlets so he can increase the output of his lightning attacks. Sen also bought an Advanced Shroud magic from the Saviour Store for 80 crystals which made Nes a little excited to see it in action.
Although everyone felt that they were ready to storm the capital to rescue the twins and Mailee’s brother Malik, they knew it was still far fetched. “Guys, I have a plan, but this might be a little crazy.” Sen scratched his head a little with embarrassment. Upon a very short discussion, Mailee felt like her brain was breaking into two.
“This is not a little crazy, this is pure insane. Sen I do not know why I trust you with my life.”
“I loved this, this is magnificent!” Raizan laugh heartily. Feng just shaked his head while Nes giggled at the plan.
“Let’s do this.” Sen’s grin was the widest among all of them.
