Mend My Broken Heart - 84 The Wedding Invitation
Instead of walking straight to the CEO’s office, Jane detoured to her small cubicle in the secretarial office to get the necessary files for the meeting.
When she remembered the silver calling card, she instinctively remembered the man who had a handsome countenance that was popping everywhere she went. That day was the start of their love-hate relationship.
She did not know how did the man got her personal number and from then on, she was receiving texts and sometimes calls from him.He would randomly ask her to go out and sometimes he would just talk nonsense to her. So many times that she blocked her number but he would manage to let her unblock him willingly and that’s what she hated. She felt like she was toyed by him.
Regardless, from then on, she did not attempted to block the man and just stretched her patience like a rubber band. She thought that she would just treat him like a broken tape recorder.
But honestly, he was helpful when she wanted to divert her attention from her stressful work. He was the one who would console her and be there when she wanted to drink her heart out.
The man was a gentleman and that why she let her guard down and eventually the man crept up and had an important part of her life.
Jane got the documents from her table and hastily proceeded to the CEO’s office to present them to Lyndon.
She knocked the door and when Lyndon granted her permission to go in, she pushed the glass door gently and closed it promptly.
“Good afternoon sir, here’s the quarterly financial report of L&L Empire in France that you requested.” she said while placing carefully the folders in front of him.
“Okay, thank you and here, attend it for me and get a suitable gift for them.” Lyndon ordered while handing out a wedding invitation.
“Yes sir. Is there anything else you need sir?” she asked politely. She worked under Lyndon but she was not convinced about his prowess and it was also the time that she changed the views about the man. Before, she presumed that the man is cold and unapproachable like many said but truthfully, he was just not trusting all the people around him. She also thought that the man will give up because of the difficulties he encountered during the merger but it was the time that she saw the true capabilities of Lyndon Lincoln. The more challenging the situation for him, the harder he pushed himself to his limits.
Truthfully, she viewed him as an ideal man that many woman will vie for marriage and that was the ultimate truth.
“No. You’re free to go and don’t forget the invitation.” he said while signing the papers on his desk.
“Okay sir. I’ll go now.” she said as she withdraw from the office. She held the wedding invitation without looking at it. She get back to her cubicle and started working some files while she sipped the cold coffee from Starbucks that she brought along the way.

Jane finished all the necessary documents before heading to the canteen because she felt hungry. As she was descending to the first floor, she received a text message from Winston. She fished out her phone from her pocket and pressed the mail button from the notification bar to view his message.
“Don’t forget to eat Miss Beautiful. Too much diet is not good.” upon reading this, she smiled to herself before replying.
“Yeah. Thanks for the reminder. I’m already on my way to get my lunch.” she typed on her screen as her reply.
One thing that the man proved to her during the past few months that they began exchanging messages was his sincerity and his care for her.
No woman will resist such charms and she wondered why the man was still an old virgin till to date. He was handsome, filthy rich and he was an adorable man.
She just learned that Winston had a corporation of his own and his parents were on world tour to celebrate their golden anniversary. The man had a sister which she met already and they pretty got along together. There were times that they would hang out and bar hopped for an entire night and get drunk without any worries because Winston will be there always to serve as their bodyguard and chaperone.
The elevator dings and she was already on the first floor. She walked towards the canteen and ordered a sweet and sour fish and two bowls of rice. She was famished because she skipped her breakfast. Yesterday, she was in France to gather the necessary files that Lyndon needed. She’s the one that did not like to pass the work over someone and that’s why she go to France personally.
When she walked out from the canteen and brought her lunch to her cubicle, her phone rang and she immediately picked it up.
“Had your fill already?” the voice asked. It was Winston.
“I was going to but you called so I was interupted.” she said bluntly. Winston already knew this trick of hers. She wanted him to feel guilty for interrupting her lunch and she already won.
“I’m sorry Miss Beautiful. I’ll hung up now and please eat plenty because I know Lyndon got you work so hard without rest so eat your fill. I’ll call you later when your work is up.” with that being said, Winston hung up, leaving Jane no chance of saying anything.
She was waiting for the elevator to come down from the top floor patiently. Many of her colleagues will walk past through her and then greeted her out of courtesy.
Then, she would hear whispers and gossips around her back but she did not care as long as they will not interupt her work.

Jane finished all of her work without any hitch and she stretched her hands upward and yawned. She remembered the wedding invitation from Lyndon.
Thinking about it, she pulled her drawer where she put the card and pulled it out.
It was a simple yet elegant invitation card. Gray with gold linings and intricate design on the paper.
Seeing the invitation card, she sighed and thought of the time that she will be wed. Is there a man out there to catch her when she falls?
She did not know that the man that she wanted her to catch her is already by her side waiting for her to jump off and let go.
She sent a messaged to Winston asking what is the best gift for a wedding because truthfully, she had no idea. Ever since she worked at the Lewis Empire before, all she did was to organize everything for the old man but except for the occassions. The old man often said that the gift he would bring to the occassion he would attend, represents his whole being and his sincerity about the connection of the people around him. It was one of the traits she admired from the old man.
“I have a friend that’s going to be wedded soon and I’m planning to buy a gift so, why don’t we go together.” the man suggested on his reply.
“Is that okay? I’m really glad.” she smiled while she sent this.
“Yup. So, when’s the wedding?” the man inquired.
“This December 16.” she replied.
“What a coincedence! My friends wedding is on that date too.” he happily said. It’s evident because he sent her a smiley.
“Where’s the wedding?” he added after for a while.
“Paris.” she shortly replied as she started to tidy her table top.
“Are we going on same wedding?” he suspiciously asked.
“I guess. It’s Elizabeth Francais and Brandon Feine.” she replied.
The man sent her with a laughing out loud emoji.
“Is Lyndon not going? I thought he’s the one who’s invited.” the man said on his text.
“It’s supposed to be but Misha’s delivery is fast approaching. He did not get any overtime some time now and headed straight home after office hours.” she said.
“Okay, we’ll shop a gift together. How about this Saturday?” he asked.
“Sure.” she hastily replied and put her phone down on the table as she picked the paper under her desk.
Winston want to add something but he will tell her this Saturday during their date. He smiled as he reread all their conversations during that afternoon while he lazily leaned at his bed’s headboard. Thinking about their up coming date, he could not help but feel elated so he jumped up from his bed and dashed to the bathroom and showered.
