Microtech: Academy Of Idiots - Volume 1 Chapter 59 Renounce Friendship?
Renounce Friendship?
“Are you saying that we should renounce our friendship and think about our own paths?” the third friend asked a little shocked.
He was not a sceptic, but to leave his friend at a time when he was battling for his life against death, it was a little much.
They had been good friends for more than fifteen years. Many used their friendship as an example, and now when it’s time for the real test of their friendship, they were desperately thinking about their own benefit.
“Don’t get emotional, at least we are not stabbing Lui at the back like Rim who shamelessly joined his enemies and tried to plot against him. We are only getting away with self-respect since we don’t like to study all these endless materials,” he shrugged his shoulders casually.
That was true, Rim brazenly joined hands with the enemies of Lui and then plotted against him. Now Lui’s remaining friends were worried about their future.
“It is not that I’m against this choice but if Lui gets to know and gets angry, what would we do?” He was just fourteen years old in this world and frail. He was worried about what would happen if they met more stronger enemies outside the academy, and he wouldn’t be able to meet the angry eyes of Lui.
This academy will be a secure place for them until they grow up.
“When you were an old monkey in your previous life, you were a coward. It is not strange that you are worried to leave the premises of the academy. Say if you want to leave with us? We will take care of each other” the one who was there to bring him along demanded sternly.
The younger friend adjusted his bifocals and sneered, “You’re abandoning your old friend, how can you make me believe that you will help me in times of trouble? I better quit slacking and study hard; preferably than to abandon Lui who can sacrifice his life to help me in troubled times,” he declared as he shook his head and picked the digital device to study hard.
His friend went back wordlessly. He was not in a mood to argue with this puny brain. The two of them that decided sent their letters to the administration and proceeded to leave the academy. They chose their path with their own conscience; so there was nothing to regret and look back.
The other friends who choose to stay were aware of their decision. They were determined to pass the exam and get promoted with their grades, they strictly adhered to the advice of Lui.
It was the only way to live with honour in this world because there was no sect backing them up securely in this age of science.
Lui opened his eyes and looked at the ceiling, his heartbeat had stabilised. The excessive loss of blood was now waning as his wounds had been patched, and it would slowly heal through the best available doses being administered for early recovery.
It took him two days to regain consciousness, and today was the first assessment test for promotion into the grades. He was admitted in the hospital, and presently there was no signs that he would be able to walk on his own in a day or two. As is their responsibility, the school administration gathered to decide on the matter.
The exams of the Academies and Labs were taken on an international platform via online assessments and tests. The results were given right after the test, and it was a way to keep the exams fair and final.
Not a single student can pass the exams through cheating as the results were considered authentic. Also, the students were given international allotments and rankings.
In the administration office:
“I had to suddenly exempt two students from the exams. Then took back their names from the exam sheets.” It might not have bothered anyone if it was someone random, but these two students who left the academy were no other than two geniuses. It is a matter of concern for the administration.
“Did you invite them to ask what provoked such decision?” a member of the administration inquired.
“I would have, but they briefly explained that they don’t want to talk about anything and the academy respected their decision as we cannot force them against their will.” He replied. The member who raised the question was surprised as well as worried.
“You should send someone to see if they made this decision on their own or they were compelled to do this,” another member suggested.
“Indeed! I will investigate the matter. And for the second matter, a young student of the academy is in the hospital; also he might not be able to attend his exam, what should we do about it?” he threw the medical certificate which can be used as an excuse to ask for delay from the international authority on the table for all to see.
“They won’t delay the exams, but I’m hoping if they could assign another date for his individual exams,” the other squinted his brows trying to remember if there happened to be a similar matter in the past.
If they could adequately talk and solve this matter, then the exams would go smoothly.
“I’d better hand over this matter to you then,” the man handed the doc.u.ment and stood up. He has lots of responsibilities lined up for today, and then he was to send the summary to the Dean. “Alright, you have planned to burden my shoulders already so be it,” the man picked the file and got ready to inform the higher-ups.
The MicroTech Academy was in disarray as all the students were present to take their first assessment test. Ni Chen and the others were present in their respective Departments, waiting for the virtual assessment.
Lippizan was little nervous. The design he made for the presentation a month ago, and the preparation he has done for this assessment seemed to dissolve in his brain. He could no more remember anything which he learnt by heart.
There was visible sweat on his forehead, “for the sake of friendship,” he enclosed his fist and muttered as if praying silently under his breath.
He was enrolled in the Hardware Department, and before this, Lippizen had always liked introducing innovative designs.
