I wanted To Meet Him
Hyal shocked immediately sat on her own, disregarding her deep wounds; she thought that Lui must have been busy or he finally thought to leave her alone, but it turned out that he was in fact admitted in the hospital.
“What happened to him?” she asked the doctor as her voice shook with emotion.
“He is out of danger. And there is no news as to how he got in this condition. I think the Academy is not willing to give a press release about the recent developments,” the doctor replied as she checked Hyal’s upper back wounds.
Lui was given student of the decade award, and he was considered a celebrity. There will be an uproar as soon as the news reached the media outlets. The Academy cannot take another burden of the media, so they kept it to themselves.
Lippizan heaved a deep sigh after submitting his last answer. The exam was stressful; his fists were sweating, and it was his first time ever to attend such a grand exam. In his previous life, he was carefree and worry-free. Whenever his master asked that he should get going with his first level trail in magic, he would have excused himself with a tale that Lui was calling him in the sect hall. It was a good enough and reliable excuse most of the time.
Here in this world, he was bound to study hard even Lui would scold him if he failed these exams. He was not sure what would be the result, but time was ticking on the screen, and he was feeling stifled as if it was a matter of life and death.
It was indeed a matter of life and death. The design he was presented in the exam theory would either get a rejection or an approval. In the case of its approval, then he could proudly stand in front of Lui and tell him the good news if not then there was nothing to share
He would be kicked out from the promotion. He might remain in the previous grade with the unlimited outbursts of insults always lingering around him.
This would be a nightmare.
The time ticking stopped, and he immediately closed his eyes.
The system announced the results. This exam hall and all the other halls had related screens which were connected with the central computer. The results were purely decided by the artificial intelligence system. It can test the validity of the newly founded theories and bring out the results.
Lippizan opened his eyes to the screen flashing the word ‘congratulations, your theory has been approved’; all the questions were separately displayed and marked with a brief explanation, it was a measure employed to ensure the validity of the marking.
He jumped up from his seat with excitement, at last, he can finally breathe in relief.
The other exam halls were also going through their final submissions. Not everyone was genius enough to present a flawless and fresh theory; so they would be giving out their previous year performance and answering the related questions.
Lippizan left his exam hall happily and went to see whether his friends were also happy with their results.
All others were equally excited, only the young Min was gloomy, he had failed the exam.
“Come on! You only lost the exam. If the Academy would not support the grants further, you have us all; we can share our pocket money with you,” Xu Rue told him while patting on his shoulders trying to cheer up his mood.
“Indeed! Your small expenses would be still looked after by the Academy, so you don’t need to worry, we will also help you in studying,” Lippizan added.
Min was the one who did not follow the other two friends that had left the Academy. He tried his best but couldn’t pass the exams, and he was currently in a sad mood.
“No, I should leave the Academy like the other two,” he uttered, almost in tears.
Ni Chen furrowed his brows and questioned, “which other two?” They had been busy in study and had no clue who had left the Academy.
“Two of our group members left the Academy. They also tried to persuade me, but I declined their offer to leave the Academy,” he explained.
Ni Chen looked around, and sure enough, two of their friends weren’t present.
They all looked at each other. They couldn’t say anything about it for what could they have said? That those who left were cowards or they weren’t actually true friends. They didn’t bother to make contact with others and explain what problems or fears they were facing at the time; at the very least, they could have solved it together.
“I admit studying is hard,” Lippizan shook his head. He thought that they left because they found it hard to concentrate on the studies.
“No, they left because they were afraid that Lui would make more enemies, and it would implicate them too,” the young Min informed them as he adjusted his bifocal.
Now, this was something they would never have thought of.
“Are you sure?” Ni Chen asked in disbelief.
“You can ask them yourself,” Min replied.
“It has already been a few days since the results are out. We can go meet Lui. Anyone wants to go, or are you afraid of his enemies?” Lippizan questioned rather sternly. He was a little upset at their friends who left the Academy for such a pathetic reason.
What they were actually thinking is that Lui was the one who was making enemies, but that was not the case. Lui was only facing them head-on, if not they would all be in trouble sooner or later. If not for Lui, other students would have been bullying them just like before.
Moreover, they were friends of good old days in their previous lives. Would they separate their paths if anyone of them was in trouble? It was a grave question which was pounding in their brains.
Would some of them change their paths in future too?
Was there any guarantee that none would stab the other in the back?
They looked at each other same questions running in their minds as they continued to exchange looks of uncertainties that loomed beneath.
Only time will decide, who would stab in the back and who would sacrifice without giving a thought. Friendsh.i.p.s cannot be considered trustworthy unless went through trials, and probably they were reincarnated for the test of their long years of friendship.
Only time can decide and it will be sooner.
