Microtech: Academy Of Idiots - Volume 1 Chapter 73 Toto Is Back Part 2
Toto Is Back (part 2)
Lui stood up and roamed around the room before proceeding to the kitchen to make something simple to eat.
He wasn’t getting any satisfaction from eating canned foods day in and day out. So, he thought of whipping up a simple dish for himself.
Later, he would set about to organise all the assignments and study data he had amassed once before the final exam.
“So, tell me, what is your opinion about Micron?” Lui asked the robot while he was tossing the fries in the pan. He was curious at the kind of opinion the robot could give about the manufacturing plant. It has been in service for a while.
He wouldn’t be wrong if he assumed that this robot had seen the world a little more closely than others. Moreover, every opinion matters irrespective of the giver of such advice. It was still an opinion, he thought to himself.
Lui was asking so that he could keep an open mind when negotiating with the Micron chairperson or whoever was representing the company for the project deployment proposal.
“Master, in my honest opinion, being the top manufacturing plant- Micron Administration might test your personal opinion on several topics. If I remember correctly, Micron happens to be the toughest company to pass on projects for manufacturing. This is due to their strict rules which have led the company toward the top and shaped its outcome. You have to prepare yourself very well for any kind of test or debate,” Toto informed Lui straightaway.
It has all the previous data about the company, and with the updated version of the software, it has a whole new set of ML focused on the summary of the situation. So, Toto could quickly summarize the situation by shuffling through the data provided as well as the circ.u.mstance.
Lui turned to look at the Robot. Should he be alarmed? Probably not, he told himself after all he was confident he could face whatever debate or test they threw his way. At the same time, the rest was up to luck. If they were strict, then it is probably a vital move by the company.
He only needed to add extra effort to his preparation.
So it turned out that immediately after his final exams, he would get busy with the test presentation of the project and he hoped for the best.
“Well, if the master asks, I can give him some tips during your preparation,” Toto uttered.
Lui heaved a sigh. This robot was always a step ahead of his expectations.
“Sure! I also wanted to know if Toto is capable enough to help in my presentation,” Lui affirmed with a chuckle.
The room was quiet for a while. Toto was working on the presentation datasheet. During the time it spends in compiling data, all the events of that particular period were being refreshed in its memory because it was necessary to know the latest development.
Since it was an assigned assistant that implies it should be aware of how the life of its owner had been especially after the severe casualty?
“Alright! I can’t hide it from you. It wasn’t an accident; I was kidnapped by the previous guy Gib who had been expelled from the Academy,” Lui informed Toto as he couldn’t keep such things away from his robot because it could file an accusation against him for being secretive officially.
“I can understand why the Academy didn’t send any information regarding this. So, do you want me to keep track of the culprit?” Toto demanded.
It needed permission from its owner before commencing on or executing a task.
“You should keep track of Gib’s every move. There is also someone called Tian. He is a famous businessman who was recently sent to jail for engaging in illegal activities within the abandoned district. Let me know if he is filing an appeal against his conviction to reduce the accorded years of his sentence,” instructed Lui. There have been rumours flying in the media that the convicted felon might not remain silent after the case was closed.
Toto harrumphed at Lui’s words, “I’m aware of the fact that he’s the one who adopted you, sometimes humans are unpredictable,” Toto reassured Lui.
Lui chuckled, “So, you have some reservations about humans?”
He plumped himself on the couch and munched on a veggie sandwich.
“Humans are humans; the more I try to summarize their priorities and natures, the acquired data creates room for more confusion. So, I gave it a back seat to organise myself first,” Toto declared.
It has spent long years doing active fieldwork. It was given several responsibilities at different times. It had been sent for repairs approximately a hundred times if not more. The real designer was no more, but his descendant was as devoted as his ancestor. So, whenever it was sent for repairs, they worked efficiently to revive it back to work.
“Haha…it is good that you left it like that, else the confusion might have created trouble that would have affected your performance,” Lui acknowledged with a wave of his hand. “Indeed master! My performance is what I should learn to maintain first,” Toto declared.
If it was hiding and others could only hear its voice, no one would be able to tell that it is a machine talking. The metallic figurative appearance made it look like a robot.
Still, the designer carefully conceived and forged out its appearance like an artist’s impression-it looked like a harmless domestic robot.
Lui had the same impression when he saw Toto entering as his assistant. He wondered if the Academy was engaging in some sort of tomfoolery with him by sending a small four-feet tall robot. Nevertheless, it later proved its worth. It had several modes. The robot could increase in size when in defence or attack modes when the time came.
Lui wanted to meet with Hyal as it’s been a while. But until the administration sends a fixed date for his final exams; he would have to be patient.
Lei Mei didn’t come to tell him about Hyal and her present condition. She was his responsibility for the time being so he shouldn’t have to neglect her. But there was a problem. What if his enemy was waiting for him to make a mistake? He speculated that Gib would be the front runner in announcing it.
Hyal had been able to recover a little. Her physical wounds were still the same, but it didn’t hurt as much. She could roam around her hospital room. Her head was no longer as bald as before when the incident occurred.
Her mild and extra-soft skin returned to its normal vibrant form. She felt better than her prior condition right after Lui brought her out from the smoke tank. And she was deciding on something which Lui wouldn’t have advised at all.
