- Chapter 2 A New System Of Magic I
It was a normal morning in the Fortem Manor, the staff was attending off Butlers and Maids were cleaning, the chiefs were creating new dishes, and the guards were patrolling the city and territory. But unlike the father and son pair who would rarely spare a glance at each other, both of them were eating breakfast with the rest of the family.
“You’re eating?” Anna, the second wife of Nathaniel asked a little bewildered.
Ever since she married Nathaniel she never caught sight of the boy at all. Originally she believed that he was but a mere figment of her husband’s imagination but after the birth of her daughter Silence, she was surprised to see him skillfully cradle the child to sleep after being notified that the Maids were unable to calm her. Ever since then she would only catch sight of him when he was either within the study or taking care of Silence.
“Indeed, I have something of great importance to discuss with both you and Father,” Leon said as his voice resounded throughout the dining hall. Both Nathaniel and Anna were left shell-shocked but quickly hid their expressions.
“What is it, son?” His father asked.
“If it is not much of a burden, please allow me to get my attribute tested and enroll into the Royal Academy of Magic and Combat,” He said.
Left slightly surprised that he would act so distant and cold for something simple, they replied “We have already arranged for your enrollment in Autumn, as for your attribute, have Rudeus do so, he was a B-Class Magician many years ago.
“Understood…” He said coldly before walking off.
Finishing his meal quickly he left the dining hall with a heavy heart.
“Somethings changed…” Nathaniel muttered.
Not even a month ago his son was always lazing around and watching him sign documents in his office, but now he’s different. Before he wasn’t even capable of saying a proper word, not only that but he always carried the air of a child. Now he was different, he was speaking fluently and his eyes held a form of indifference. It was as if he became a different person entirely.
“At least now I don’t need to worry about him becoming the head of the family.” He thought.
Finishing his meal soon after he spent some time speaking to his wife about finding him a wife, but unbeknownst to the two, Leon was planning his revenge.
“I hate them…” He thought to himself as he made his way towards the hidden study.
“I hate them so much!” The rage he held towards the two was immense.
Before he was executed he could only really be described with two words, “Idiotic Child”. Due to this title many would treat him like an animal, though at the time he thought it was just a game, after gaining the Blessing of Knowledge did he realize what was going on.
As a prerequisite for its use, the person who received this blessing needed to see the worst and best of man, experiencing every emotion there is in life and taking control of it. Though Leon did, in fact, go through such tortuous tribulations, nothing could extinguish the amount of rage he felt towards his parents after discovering that they played a role in his execution.
Making a fist his eyes surged with immense killing intent. “I promise to show all of the people who betrayed me what truly means to become a Fallen Noble.” He thought.
This place is filled with corrupt nobles and people. The majority of the commoners live in poverty whilst the merchants overcharge everyone excluding nobles and other merchants. Things like **** and murder are common and the public order can only really be described as terrible. If not for the fact that other kingdoms have no idea of what is going within Phobos, many of them would have long since eradicated its existence.
“But until then I have to get stronger, be it through body modification or through a new system of magic, I can’t achieve anything with the feeble amount of strength I currently possess.” He thought.
Entering the hidden study Leon was greeted by Rudeus. “I’ve prepared a cup of Ginger Tea for you Young Master.” He said.
“Thanks again Rudeus,” He said.
Hiding his anger he calmed himself as he drank his tea.
