- Chapter 3 A New System Of Magic Ii
Finishing his tea Leon pondered about his current situation.
“I need to find a private area…” He thought. “The Manor is too populated for me to create complex things like explosives or Magic Tools…” Though he could make them by simply using magic, he couldn’t do within the manor where he’s being watched the majority of the time. This was one of the biggest reasons why he talked about magic with his father, it would be far too suspicious for him to know magic after being brain dead for the majority of his life.
Making a simple gesture with his hand Leon nullified any magic tools within the room and created a soundproof barrier around both him and Rudeus before using a form of magic that makes the target speak only the truth reveal their thoughts on Rudeus.
“Rudeus.” He called his butler.
“Yes, Young Master.” He said.
“I need your help…” He said.
“Of course, as you butler it is…” Interrupting him Leon sighed.”Not as a butler, but as an old friend, as you have seen, I’m not acting like my past self and have kept a lot of things secret from you. Some being important, whilst others being minor, and since I consider you to be an irreplaceable friend, I need you to say yes.” Leon said.
“O-of course You-” Interrupting him yet again, Leon said “Please, call me Leon. Young Master is inappropriate between friends.” He said.
“I understand, then L-Leon, what is it that you ask of me.” He said.
“Gather two people from the staff that you know personally and can trust your life with. Do this without anyone noticing and bring them here tomorrow at 4 in the morning. But before that, tell my father that you discovered what my Magic Affinity is and that its Wind before telling him that I have the talent to become a C-Rank Magician. Once those two things are done I’ll tell you everything.” With a serious look in his eyes, Leon stared at Rudeus waiting for confirmation.
“I… I understand. I’ll keep everything secret from Lord Fortem and will do as you say, Young Master.” He said.
Trusting in Rudeus, he sighed.
“Didn’t I tell you it’s Leon from now on?” Leon said.
Realizing that he had gone back on his word, Rudeus replied, “It’s just a little odd to call someone superior to me by name.” Understanding how he would feel uncomfortable referring to him by name, Leon came up with a suitable substitution. “Fine then, refer to me as Master Leon from now on if Leon feels too odd.”
“Understood, I’ll inform Master Nathaniel of your talent with magic now before carrying out everything else.” He said.
After leaving the room, Leon released all of the spells previously cast. “It seems that I can trust him.” He muttered.
As stated before to acquire the Blessing of Knowledge Leon had to experience the best worst of humanity. Hence whoever it is, when it comes to trusting others, he feels that doing nothing to test it is idiotic. Thus that was the reason why he chose to cast his own version of Illusion Magic on Rudeus.
After pondering about his next actions, Rudeus decided to start working on his Slight of Hand.
“Transmute…” Touching one of his handmade pockets watches a sliver of electricity erupted from his hand and changed the structure of the clock into a set of silver playing cards.
