Miss Ordinary: I Was Reborn To Love You! - Chapter 64
Romstall General Hospital
“Eric, amnesia is indeed a possibility, but the prospect of it to be something else altogether is there. I need to talk with her to have a better understanding of the situation,” Lu Fei had just reached the lobby of the biggest hospital in Romstall. He ignored the greetings given by the general workers in the hospital as he was busy with the phone call he had with Eric Wu.
“That’s better,” the man on the other end of the line replied, followed by a heavy sigh. His tired voice was evidence of his nightless night.
“Eric, is she aware of this too?” Lu Fei asked. He was shocked when he listened to the situation that befell Bella Lim from Eric Wu. Although he was interested in their encounter in Kastache, his worry towards her defeated his dėsɨrė to gossip. Since they suspected that Ryan Lim was the prince, it was possible for Bella Lim to have some relation to the political war involving the four countries as well.
“She is in front of me,” that short sentence gave a definite answer. Lu Fei sighed as the face of Bella Lim flashed in his mind. He knew she was the one who hurt the most. Who wouldn’t be? Especially, when the one and only blood ties left in this world was challenged by some nonsensical, bizarre phenomenon?
“Send my regard and tell her not to worry too much,” he said only to realize that he had reached the elevator. “Bro, I need to go. Rest ȧssured, I’ll fly to Azure tonight,” he spoke hastily before he entered the elevator. The line disconnected the instant the door was shut.
Lu Fei took a deep breath once the elevator who carried him to the fifteenth floor stopped. Outside, a young woman was already waiting for him. She greeted him the seconds she saw him.
“Good morning Dr. Lu Fei, the chairman is waiting in his room,” she told him.
Lu Fei simply nodded as he walked towards the room located at the end of the fifteenth floor which also known as the Neurological department. His face was sour as he was literally forced to come to the building by the hospital director. It should be known that Sunday was his off day. He loathed those people that didn’t understand the function of a contract. Perhaps, if he didn’t have to rush from his oversea appointment, he wouldn’t be so mad. But, the old man was gutsy enough to pull him from his one day vacation just to meet the chairman of the Neurology department.
Now that he thought about it, he would have taken a flight to Azure if not for this stupid meeting. He could almost tell that the chairman was playing one of his dirty schemes again. If not because of the elders in his clan, he would have toppled the man down and buried him underneath the Romstall bridge. He was just a nuisance to his eyes!
Lu Fei entered the door that was pushed by the young woman who greeted him earlier. He stopped right after he walked in as he calmly pushed the bridge of his glasses up. In front of him, sat three people who were all looking to his direction with a smile that hid their own different agenda.
“Dr. Lu, you’re here,” Lu Fei scoffed when he heard the voice of the man who was sitting on the chairman’s chair. At the same time, he realized that the other people who sat on the chairs allotted in front of the desk were already standing up.
“Dr. Lu Fei, I’m a fan,” a woman with a perfect ombre hairstyle was the one who held out her hand first. She gave the impression of an innocent woman who at the same time weren’t afraid to smile passionately for that one person she had deep admiration about. Her reaction coaxed a purposeful coquettish smile on Lu Fei’s face.
“Ahem!” the other man interrupted the raw connection that was built within that short moment. Lu Fei smirked as he composedly looked at the direction of the other person. Immediately, praises popped inside his head at the sight of the fancy hairstyle he had. Lu Fei had to admit that the man’s smokey grey curls suit his rough and gritty look.
“Chairman Lu Tian, mind to give me an explanation for this Sunday meeting?” he sarcastically said after entertaining the two guests with his perfectly molded charming smile. He could tell that the woman was oozing pheromones while the man was treating him like a carbon cut out as his attention was fully on the woman beside him.
‘Brat!’ he thought as he focused on the old man who yet to give him an explanation.
“Hehe, please have a seat,” Lu Tian, the chairman of the Neurological department bid with full enthusiasm. Lu Fei stared at the man as he sat on the empty chair beside the brat that kept on taking glances at him. His obvious disliked towards him intensified when he saw the woman smiled sweetly at Lu Fei. It was quite funny. Lu Fei was entertained.
“Dr. Lu, I heard that you’re looking for a psychologist and a scientist for your N project. I’m suggesting Mr. Bulton and Miss. Calmera here. They are the best in their own field. Besides, they were also interested in your N project,” Lu Tian had an annoyingly excited face as he introduced the two people to Lu Fei.
A wrinkle was formed on Lu Fei’s forehead when he heard what the chairman was saying. He had the urge to pull his messily untrimmed sideburns to wake him up. For heaven’s sake, this old man called him for something out of his authority.
“Mr. Chairman, N project is not a plaything. I cannot trust the project to some strangers,” he spoke as he rose from his seat while at the same time showed a serious expression to the old man sitting across the table.
Lu Fei decided to leave before the old man succeeded in aggravating him more than he already did. True to his expectation, this man was trying to mess with him again. He maybe looked timid, but that was a facade to hide the scheming personality of his.
“Dr. Lu Fei, please wait!” Lu Tian’s panic voice called for Lu Fei who was about to leave the room. An alarmed look was on his face when he realized his two guests were staring at him with scrutinizing eyes. The man especially was giving a threatening gaze. All of these occurred behind Lu Fei who had only one mission; to leave before he exploded.
“A-as the chairman, I implore you to listen to their presentation. They already succeeded in memory reconsolidation once and have solid proof that will be helpful for your research,” the chairman’s brittle voice occupied the room as he gingerly approached Lu Fei.
“Really?” Lu Fei turned around to see Lu Tian who was standing behind him. He could tell that it was his tall body that made the big tummy man stepped back in fear.
“If they have succeeded, then I should have known about it,” Lu Fei made a curious look as he put two fingers on his chin. Soon after, a sneer was seen on his face as he stared fixedly at the man.
“Mr. Chairman, how many time must I emphasize this; your interference is not needed in this project,” he spoke as a matter-of-fact. N project was a highly confidential project and the old man had just exposed it to some random people. Lu Fei was infuriated, but since the man was someone the elders in his clan had ȧssigned as the ND’s chairman, he had to show so-called respect to him in front of these strangers. He promised to visit the director in one of these days.
“I-I-I know, b-but the director had g-given his approval,” Lu Tian stammered. The tails of his eyes kept looking at the two people who keenly watched their interaction. Lu Fei noticed this and once again his brows met in amusement.
‘Heh,’ he scoffed. Who was the chesspiece in this scheme? Was it the old man or the two persons looking at them? Interesting. He thought.
“Then, I should entertain my guests then. Miss Calmera, Mr. Bulton, please,” he curtsied as he ushered them towards the small conference room inside the chairman’s office. “Show me what you got,” he said as he pushed his glasses upward. Someone could almost see a shining star shone at the corner of his eyes.
Mr. Bulton and Miss Calmera looked at each other before they walked towards the projector in the technical area. Lu Fei watched as they communicated with each other with very minimal conversation. Despite how different they looked, they have perfect chemistry.
