Miss Ordinary: I Was Reborn To Love You! - Chapter 69
So the long night began…
Lu Fei started off with a few questions to find out about the real situation. Bella Lim and Eric Wu were cooperative enough to answer all the questions without missing a detail. He discovered that not only were their stories about the time they met were different, but Bella Lim also couldn’t recall specific information about herself such as her home address in Kastache and the school she went too. Everything that she had mentioned was a general term.
“Eric, I need to borrow your medical team and lab tomorrow so that I could make do a thorough medical check on Bella. Just to make sure that everything is alright,” Lu Fei made a request.
“Sure,” Eric Wu approved. He noticed that Bella Lim was looking down at the cushion on her ŀȧp. A few lines were formed on her forehead. Out of concern, he asked: “Bella, are you alright?”
Lu Fei who was writing something on his notebook turned to see Bella Lim as well. Feeling the gazes on her, Bella Lim looked at the two men and gave a wry smile. How was she alright under this circumstance? Oh well, she did promise to herself not to be a cry baby again, but to act so was difficult. She heaved out, blowing an amount of air from her lung before she relaxed again.
“I believe there is something more that you haven’t told me?” she shifted her body to Lu Fei’s sitting position, her sapphire blue eyes were fixed on him almost capable enough to break his eyewear.
Seeing her intent features, Lu Fei glanced at Eric Wu, waiting for his consent. What he had in hand was a piece of coincidental information which he thought could be the answer to the thing they were confused about. However, her question caught him off guard. Now, he wasn’t sure if tonight was suitable for her to know about it.
“Go ahead. She could handle it,” Eric Wu gave a reassuring nod. Lu Fei exhaled as he turned the ŀȧptop towards Bella Lim. Once again, without anyone telling her what to do, Bella Lim began scrolling up and down to read the information available on the screen.
The first thing that caught her eyes was the female picture on the top right corner of the document she was reading. That picture although her eyes were blurred, it wasn’t difficult to ȧssociate her with the young girl that appeared in her mind while being unconscious yesterday. For whatever reason, she now believed it was the young her.
“I don’t know how to say this, but this picture is yours right?” he asked, closing up to Bella Lim so he could point the picture he was talking about.
“Indeed it’s her,” Eric Wu buŧŧed in. He could tell on one look that the picture belonged to the young girl he had met a few years back.
“It is me,” Bella Lim finally confirmed as she subconsciously pushed the two men who were too close. “Give me some space to discern this,” she requested in a manner of giving an order. The two men blinked successively before pulling out.
Eric Wu was smiling, not a little bit offended by her manner of talking. He tried to recall the first time she changed from the timid woman to one that almost reached the level of fearless, but failed. However, he was certain that the healthy lifestyle he proposed was the mechanism that steeled her gut. He loved this change…
On a serious note, the information Bella Lim was reading was the record of Subject D which he copied from the twin’s ŀȧptop database. It was a descriptive report to show the process Subject D had undergone in order to erase the trauma she had.
“So because I was bitten by my pet snake, I developed a trauma towards this creature to the point of hallucinating? And then, I underwent memory consolidation and reconsolidation to get rid of this trauma?” Bella Lim squeezed her eyes, thinking that what she read was ludicrous.
“Hallucination is a serious matter,” Lu Fei corrected, thinking that she found the whole thing totally ridiculous.
“No, I mean, why must I lose almost all of my memories for this? In fact, it stated here that it was only the memory regarding the trauma that was removed yet here I was… ” a wry smile on Bella Lim’s face, doubting the document she just read.
“I recalled something…” Eric Wu was now standing. He walked to and fro in one line with both hands on his waist.
“W-what?” both Bella Lim and Lu Fei were confused at the character he showed to them. It was the first time, they saw him this nervous. His handsome face looked like he had costiveness.
“The leader of Sapphire Growlers once said that Yang Wan had used the drug on someone and…”
“And…?” Bella Lim and Lu Fei asked almost in sync.
“It failed,”
“Lu Fei, did the twin talked about other subjects?” Eric Wu stopped pacing forth and back and now focused his attention on Lu Fei.
“No. They didn’t mention anything of that sort. Just that Subject D was the only successful case they had,” Lu Fei explained.
“How about contacting the leader again?” he suggested.
“I’ve tried before but failed. Somehow, he seemed to be missing from my radar,” Eric Wu sighed. He thought he almost had an answer after listening to Bella Lim’s logical question. Yet, it was just another roadblock.
“Ermm, did this leader explain the who and why?” Bella Lim who was just listening asked a question. She could tell why Eric Wu was acting the way he was at the moment. She saw him shook his head, eyes staring at her regretfully.
Bella Lim smiled back before reading at the document again. “Wait, this report was sent to Kastache’s Ministry of Health?” she asked.
“Yes, they did mention that the MOH supported the project,” Lu Fei straight away responded. Bella Lim looked at him for a while before a frown was formed on her forehead.
“Bella?” Eric Wu called after seeing her thoughtful expression.
“This report was fake,” she announced, surprising both the men.
“How?” they asked.
“Think about it. What would happen if they included in their report that the subject had lost all her memories? How would the MOH reacted?”
“Their real purpose was to erase all the subject’s memories,” Lu Fei took a deep breath after receiving a nod from Bella Lim.
“That made sense… perhaps, the leader was referring to this report,” Eric Wu made his own conclusion as well.
The three looked at each other, nodding their heads, satisfied with the final outcome.
“So my memories are gone because of this huh?” Bella Lim chuckled. It was difficult to accept it and ridiculous in a sense. However, evidence pointed to that direction and she had no other way but to accept it… for now until she recalled her memories back.
“Is it possible to get my memories back?” she asked absentmindedly, not directing it to anyone.
Lu Fei saw her looking at the table with empty stares. “I believe the memories will come back to you. If I am not mistaken it is coming back to you,” he said.
“Lu Fei is right,” Eric Wu chirped in. He was sure of it because if it wasn’t, why did all of these happen?
Bella Lim chuckled. She took a deep breath, “Now that I think about it, as Subject D, I supposed to be dead right?” she asked.
And then another riddle began…
Eric Wu stared at Lu Fei and so was the other…
