Miss Sales Manager - Volume 1 Chapter 9
Tina finished dinner, asked Fred to leave his car back, dropped him off at his home in a cab and reached home. Her father opened the door. He saw Tina, smiled at her and said, ‘hope you had a good time’ she said, ‘yes dad, our boss left, there is a new boss now, I have a review meeting tomorrow, ‘ he nodded and said, ‘sleep now, wake up early and do your work, ‘ she nodded, hugged her father, kissed her mom and went to her room and slept.
Tina being a disciplined person, woke up early, had a glass of juice, went for a jog and sat with her laptop. She prepared an excel sheet to give Jason a brief idea on the current numbers, growth in comparison to last year and what is the percentage achievement so far against the year target. She cross checked everything, had her breakfast, dressed up and drove down to office.
She wished every one on the way to her seat. Opened her laptop, got her coffee. Fred came over, he said, ‘hello my lady’ imitating Jason, Tina gave him a rare smile and said, ‘Hi Fredrick, how are you feeling today, how is your hangover? ‘
‘I still have a headache, but feeling better, Jason reached office? ‘ Tina said, ‘yes he did, he is inside,’
Fred said, ‘Tina, you can call me Fred. I will get my numbers ready, I will see you ‘ then he left to his cubicle.
Everyone came and were busy looking at their numbers. Tina was making few business calls. Jason came out and called over, ‘good morning guys, let us meet in the conference hall in ten minutes, I hope you are ready with your figures ‘
In five minutes Tina completed her calls, carried her laptop, poured herself a cup of coffee and sat in the conference room. She was always punctual. She was the first one to reach. Everyone came in. Fred was the last to come in. Jason entered the conference room, ‘Hi guys, I ordered some snacks, we will be getting them in a while, this is going to be a good long meeting.First I will give you my presentation’
He connected his laptop and started speaking. He was a good presenter. Jason gave a quick insight of himself, his career, then took them through the overall performance for last year. His presentation was full of bar graphs, pie diagrams. He showed what his mission was. He wanted the team to over achieve their target. In collaboration with the company he launched a new incentive scheme. With every achievement over their target, they will gain a two percent increment additional on the incentive. For example if your individual target is ten lakh per annum, upon achievement of ten lakh you will get the promised amount of incentive x. If you have an achievement of 102 percent, you will earn extra 20 percent of your incentive additional. Your earning potential becomes too high. Tina’s eyes were shining. Everyone was excited.
Earning more money is the driving force for sales people. You achieve your targets, earn your incentives, advance in your career faster. It is a great career. The only disadvantage is hectic travel, irregular eating habits, stress which all lead to health problems. Once this is handled sales could be your dream career. Travelling to fun places for meetings, attending parties, it will be pretty awesome.
Then Jason concluded his presentation on a high note. People were pretty impressed. He will be an effective boss.
Jason said, ‘that is all from my end guys, let’s start with your individual numbers now, once the snacks come in we will take a break, Tina, go on and start your presentation’ He didn’t call her my lady or anything, he was a thorough professional, so was Tina, she nodded and connected her laptop to the projector, she displayed the excel sheet she prepared, showed her numbers, growth over the year, she is currently at a growth of twenty percent compared to last year and she is on target as on date. She concluded and looked at Jason, he gave a thumbs up and said, ‘ok Tina, good job, keep it up, I am expecting extra from you, Fredrick.. you next’
Fred connected his laptop. He was senior to Tina, he has also shown the current market share of their company in his accounts. He was also on target. Jason had few points, he gave his inputs and asked the team to follow Fredrick. Snacks came and Jason called for a break. He said, ‘team, have some snacks and coffee, we will have a late lunch today, take fifteen minutes and come back’
It was a pretty long meeting. Jason seemed to be a good boss. He knew what to do. He gave his honest feedback to the team. He then took three names and told them to improve in next three months, if not he asked them to look for another job.
And he added, ‘team, if you guys achieve your numbers for the month, I will give you a treat, so come on, this is a chance to earn more and party more, send me across the numbers you presented over email. I am creating a watsapp group for our team. Keep posting your order booking updates for the day, let’s all break for lunch now’
