MMORPG: Ancient World - Chapter 535 Going As Planned
Chapter 535 Going As Planned
It had been two days since Alex allowed an enhanced mutant to slip by, in hopes of it informing the Litchguard, but till now, no one had come looking for them.
During this time, the duo regularly engaged with mutant groups, recking havoc in the Iron Empire, making sure to end them all to make the first incident seem like an accident.
Alex and Lady Yue could be seen seated in a restaurant, silently enjoying food, when a cloaked figure walked into the restaurant before walking directly to their table, dragging a chair on the way, and taking a seat beside them.
It was a female belonging to the human race, with deep violet eyes and flowing violet hair, but the most striking thing about her was her immense mana presence.
It was one of the best Alex had seen, even among the elites she had faced, and putting it into numbers would surely push her mana reserve to be over thirty million, so it was not hard to guess that his plan had finally come to fruition.
“I am Selene, an elite guard of the venerable Savant Sawbone,” She said with a confident smile, seeing Alex give her a silent stare. 𝒩ewW 𝒏ovels upd𝒂tes on nov/𝒆l/b(i)𝒏(.)com
“My master wishes to recruit the two of you to his side so you can become part of his vision for the future and reap the vast benefits of his great work.” She continued after seeing the due stay silent and not respond in kind.
‘Now I just need to beat these clowns up, and either a strong one will show up to force me to follow them, or I will just appear impressed by their strength and accept their deal to meet with the apothecary to see what he can offer me,’ Alex thought, feeling excited to see thing unfold as he wanted.
Alex knew it would be easy to look into his background and find his connection to the falling star guild, and from there, learning about how he carried himself would be easy.
There was not much to be found on him since he hardly knew anyone, but it would be easy to deduce he was the silent, proud type since he was only a student of the Oldman Kang because he could not be bothered with the formalities of being a sect member.
So, if he did not play even a little hard to get, it would only appear unnatural and make the apothecary take extra precautions when meeting him, and that was the last thing he wanted.
“You lot are just a bunch of deranged criminals who have grown stronger using limited, unstable means, having burned your potential and will be stuck at your current level for life, that is, if you have any left in some time and you lot don’t turn into those failed abominations.”
“I am a genius and an adventurer with unlimited potential for growth and vast opportunities that everyone in this realm wishes to get a taste of.”
“So tell me, why would I join your ragtag group of bandits?” Alex said, blood lust oozing out and making the other customers jump to their feet in fear even though it was not directed at them.
“You are wrong,” Selene said with a knowing smile. “But I will not explain how, as my master will let you see the wider world with your own eyes, that is, if you accept the change and are left alive to experience it.”
“You think three or four of you, with strength not surpassing even the sixth stage, can force me to follow you?” Alex said as he fished the last bite of his food and stood up.
“Who knows? We can only try,” Selene replied, her eyes gleaming with change as her deep violet aura manifested around her.
The violet aura around her transmuted to take the shape of a snake, which caught Alex in its massive jaws before zooming toward the sealing, tearing through it with ease.
The hotel was located near the edge of the small city, picked by Alex, knowing a battle could break out at any moment, but it seemed like the Litchguards also knew better than to attract unwanted attention.
Alex tore the snake apart once they were a safe distance away from the city, and just as he did, a hulking figure adorned in heavy armor from head to tow, wielding two battle fists and a smaller shifty figure wielding an oversized great blade, came zooming at him.
An ether-cloaked sword pierced at his abdomen while a massive fist oozing with blazing Qi came for his head, and Alex countered by stepping on the sword and pushing it down, slipping past the fist and throwing one of his own.
As the armored ogre was sent reeling back, Alex threw another punch at the monkey beastmen, but he disappeared only to appear behind him, his massive sword moving to cleave him in two.
Alex used the chaos pulse to create a shockwave of twisted gravity to stop the sword but was not given any time to attack, as a massive snake came at him with blinding speed, turning into a massive beam of energy in the split second it took to get near him.
Alex raised his hand as he used the nihility purge to erase the energy, and as he did, he momentarily looked toward his left, seeing Lady Yue engaged in a sword duel against a cloaked figure.
Alex used the void walk to bridge the distance to the female, aiming to take out the one who would be most annoying but also held the most strength among the four present, and if he could draw out their guardian by threatening her, then it would be even better.
Alex conjured multiple abyssal lances and began to rain them on her as he moved in for the kill, avoiding the ogre and the monkey, who were hot on his tail.
Alex moved in, avoiding the beams of violet energy that zoomed out in quick bursts, acting both as her defense and offense, but his cloak of emptiness easily handled the few beams that did land on him, and in mere moments, he was mere meters away from her.
However, just as he delivered the false dark sun at point black and a cocoon of pitch darkness engulfed the surroundings, he saw the female vanish just before her defenses were overwhelmed, having been teleported to safety at the last moment.
In that small window, the monkey teleported behind him, with his great sword sending out wild tendrils of ether that ripped and tore the surrounding fabric of space, effectively cutting out Alex’s ability to use void walk.
Alex was forced to halt, with his surroundings being a cocoon of ether tendrils, stopping him just long enough for the armored brute to teleport right behind him and deliver his own attack.
The brute, massive armored fists were cloaked in two raging cyclones of crimson energy, carrying aspects like rot, decay, and Necrosis, and not having any place to run, Alex was forced to raise his arms and take the hit head-on.
Alex was sent reeling down like a ball out of a canon, taking hits from ether tendrils as he broke through the chaotic cocoon and crashed into the ground, but the trio was done yet.
The female was teleported right as Alex crashed, with a massive snake conjured above her, and without a moment’s delay, the snake began to breathe down a torrent of concentrated energy, drowning the enveloping fifty meters in a searing, destructive flood.
Alex was pleasantly surprised by the trio he was up against, as they each displayed not only a particular stat in the upper range of 300K, something that would be extremely hard to find even among geniuses, but also abilities that were not normal.
However, that did not imply they even posed a real challenge to him if he was serious about taking them out, as throughout the battle, he had not used a single big skill or his sword.
Now that he had seen enough, Alex became ready to thin down their numbers, starting with the brute, but it seemed that would be needed since someone else had also seen enough.
‘So he does have the backing of a big sect,’ Alex believed as he dusted his cloak and moved his look to the red-haired female standing before him, with a blazing phoenix insignia marking her forehead.
