Chapter 1088: A Glimpse of the Future
Whoosh!
Continuing to compact the mix of energy and Intent into something greater, Valyr felt a bit of impatience rising up within him as he compacted the entire thing far beyond what he needed to form Azure Energy.
Though, just as he felt like his attempt at truly fusing the two energies together was going to end up in failure, he eventually felt a change come from the strand of energy, feeling as if everything had finally clicked into place.
Fwoosh!
Focusing all of his attention on the strand he’d conjured, Valyr pushed his perception to the limit as he looked at the strand in excitement, wanting to know what kind of change had occurred exactly.
Thankfully, it did not take long for his attention to shift towards the strand’s center,
immediately being greeted by the sight of a color that he did not expect a combination of blue and white to create.
Gold.
A dazzlingly bright gold.
Though he had no clue as to why it had taken on a gold color rather than a color that made more sense for the combination, Valyr was certain that this gold spark in the center was none other than the true fusion he was looking for.
Sensing the gold spark give off the energy signature of both mana and Mystic Energy, the young man went ahead and attempted to turn the entire strand into the same gold color, compacting the strand even further than before.
Yet, no matter how much he pushed the strand to its limits, the only result he got was a few gold sparks that seemed ephemeral in existence.
Knowing that it was a fruitless endeavor to push it any further, Valyr eventually dispelled the strand he’d created, letting out a faint sigh as he felt like he was just a couple steps away from truly fusing the two energies together.
‘I guess I do need to push Mystic Energy to 3rd Cleansing,’ thought the young man to himself as he slowly shook his head, only to feel exasperation consume his body soon after as he thought about how close he was to success.
Thankfully, he caught himself before he allowed the feeling to worsen any further, giving himself all the time he needed to compose his emotions.
Letting out a sigh of relief after feeling his thoughts and emotions return back to normal, the young man had a fearful expression on his face as he briefly thought about what could’ve happened if he were to let the exasperation get the better of him.
“Take your time,” muttered Valyr to himself as he took in a deep breath. “You’ve already gotten confirmation that your idea works.”
“All you need to do now is to slowly make it a reality.”
Letting out a long exhale at those words, the young man decided to go over the things he’d noticed and discovered while attempting a true fusion of mana and Mystic Energy one last time, committing all of the actions he’d made and sensations he felt to memory.
Then, feeling like he’d done everything he could for now, Valyr soon returned his senses back to reality, only to be greeted by the sight of a slightly expectant Mystia.
“So, how did it go?” asked Mystia the moment she noticed he was done with his attempt. “Well…” In response, Valyr bitterly smiled at her before beginning to explain what happened while trying to fuse mana and Mystic Energy together.
As the young man talked about his experience in detail, Mystia’s eyes slowly grew wider and wider in surprise the more she listened.n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om
“In the end, all I got was a few sparks of what I felt was the true fusion of the two,” concluded Valyr as he let out a low sigh. “From the looks of it, I think I do need to push Mystic Energy to 3rd Cleansing if I want the entire strand to become that new energy.”
“I see.” Mystia nodded after that, only to notice the somber expression on the young man’s face.
Knowing how Valyr was feeling, Mystia briefly had a wry smile on her face before trying her best to console him. “Think about it this way. You’ve gotten confirmation that your idea of fusing the two together actually works.”
“If you think about it, you just need to work on it for a bit more before it becomes rightfully yours,” she continued, only to chuckle at her thoughts. “Imagine. An energy that has all of the good properties of both mana and Mystic Energy. Don’t you think this small setback is just setting you up for greater excitement down the line?”
At those words, Valyr let out a chuckle of his own as he decided to not think about the matter any further.
After all, no matter how much he lamented how close he was to truly fusing the two together, the situation would only change if he acted to make that change happen.
With that in mind, the young man thanked Mystia for all of her words, briefly joking about how she was fulfilling the role of a master to a tee.
Mystia could only let out a bit of laughter in response.
After talking a bit about how it would be better for him to stay at the Heavenly Court if he wanted to improve his alchemy even further, the two eventually felt like they had no more reason to stay at the Imperial Production Guild any further.
With that, they began to head straight towards the guild’s entrance.
“You’re gonna head straight back to the Meltierre Empire after this, right?” Walking down the corridors of the Imperial Production Guild, Valyr looked at Mystia as a question came to
mind.
“Yeah.” Mystia nodded back. “Though I hate to admit it, I still have a lot of tasks waiting for me when I get back.”
“How about you? What do you plan on doing now that you’ve seen a glimpse of what’s basically your future?”
“I’ll probably work on making it a reality once I get back,” said Valyr in response to the question. “Though, there are also a couple more things I need to take care of, such as the proposals I made, and a few upgrades here and there.”
“Good luck with that,” replied Mystia, to which Valyr nodded in response.
“Same to you.”
After walking through the corridors of the Imperial Production Guild, the two eventually found themselves at the entrance of the guild, with the moon and stars illuminating the dark
sky.
Staring at the night sky for a bit, a thought suddenly popped up in Mystia’s mind, prompting her to look at the young man with slight curiosity. “Now that I think about it, I probably have something you might be interested in.”
“What is it?” asked Valyr as he raised his eyebrow.
“It’s a tournament,” replied Mystia, only to explain the mechanics of the tournament soon
after.
Though, the more she explained what the tournament was about, the more Valyr felt like he’d heard of it before.
With that, he eventually found himself asking her a question that came to mind. “Do you perhaps know the name of the tournament?”
And with her response, he soon confirmed his suspicions.
“Of course. You’ve probably even heard of it yourself.”
“It’s called the Myriad Prodigies Tournament.”
