Chapter 1090: A Bit of Self-Improvement
Whoosh!
Shifting his senses towards the depths of his psyche, Valyr went ahead and brought out all of the Intents he had into the void as he decided to familiarize himself with the Truth Weaver
Scripture once more.
Swoosh!n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
Going through the various stages of the Truth Weaver Scripture, the young man nodded in satisfaction after finding out that he still knew the trick necessary to achieve the Tetrad stage. Thinking about the things he’d done ever since he last worked on improving his knowledge of the scripture, Valyr eventually decided to try his hand at forming a Pentad.
‘I did improve my control over energy, after all,’ inwardly muttered Valyr to himself, though he reminded himself that it was just a side effect of evolving to a better race.
Not only that, but the improved control that had been given to him mostly revolved around Prime Azure Energy, which had nothing to do with the control of Intent whatsoever.
Nevertheless, that did not stop him from using it as a source of motivation, deciding to focus the Truth Weaver Scripture on the Intent of Shadow Energy once again as he aimed to form a Pentad.
Whoosh!
Coaxing the energy of five Intents together before weaving them together in an abstruse way, Valyr’s eyes widened in surprise when he realized that he’d progressed further than he ever did before in forming a Pentad.
Not wanting to mess up what he considered as a good opportunity to finally reach the next stage of the Truth Weaver Scripture, the young man swiftly suppressed his emotions as he focused all of his attention on making the entire thing click.
“…Haah.” Unfortunately, just before the four Intents could take that final step to empower the Intent of Shadow Energy, the entire construct crumbled into pieces before Valyr could salvage the situation.
Though, just as he was about to get angry at messing up the opportunity he’d given himself, it did not take much self-introspection for him to realize that he was still a bit lacking in terms of control.
With that, he decided to focus on refining his control a bit more, experimenting a bit with his newly obtained Intent Seed while doing so.
Turning his Intent Seed of Mystic Energy into the target of the Truth Weaver Scripture, it went without saying that it easily surpassed the level of a 9th Grade Intent with just the Tetrad.
On the other hand, when he tried to use the Intent Seed to empower another Intent instead, he discovered that the boost the target Intent got from the scripture was considerably less than what the stage usually gave.
‘Hmm…’ Mulling over this discovery, Valyr soon realized that he could extend his current train of thought even further. ‘If using Intent Seeds to empower an Intent weakens the effect of the scripture, would using Forces to empower an Intent do the opposite?’
‘Now that I think about it, if the latter were true, would it be possible to boost an Intent’s strength to the level of a Force? What about a Concept?’
‘What if I used Concepts to empower an Intent using the Truth Weaver Scripture?’
Though Valyr wanted to find out the answers to his questions as soon as possible, the young man ultimately stopped himself, reminding himself that he currently did not have the means to verify his theories.
‘Aside from not having either a Force or a Concept, I haven’t even reached the 2nd stage of the scripture yet, much less the stages where it’s more likely for my ideas to become reality.’
With that, the young man returned his focus towards improving his control over his Intents, rotating through all of the Intents under his arsenal in a bid to get used to pushing them as far as he could with the scripture.
Unsurprisingly, because he rotated through all of his Intents, Valyr obtained the answer to one of his questions involving the usage of Forces to empower an Intent even further. Though he felt like the idea he had in mind would have a more pronounced effect, utilizing Intents to empower his Intent Seed did yield a greater boost overall, with Valyr feeling like he’d reached the 2nd stage of the scripture in terms of effect.
Continuing to experiment with his Intents while working on his control, Valyr eventually returned his senses back to reality after feeling he’d done everything he could to improve his chances of forming a Pentad in the future.
“Well then. That was more productive than I thought.” Slowly getting out of bed, Valyr did a few basic stretches as he took a look out of the window.
Seeing that the sun had already taken the moon’s place once more, the young man bitterly smiled, realizing that he’d yet to get a proper wink of sleep for over a week now.
Then again, even though that was the case, Valyr felt like his body still had tons of energy to spare.
‘I guess the ascension to Rank 4 increased the time I could stay awake,’ thought the young man to himself, only to then let out a chuckle at a joke that popped up in his mind. ‘From another perspective, I could say my insomnia worsened thanks to the ascension.’
Feeling satisfied with the small joke he came up with, Valyr soon got out of his part of the room to freshen up, only to find out that the two were already awake some time ago. Swiftly going through his daily routine, the young man went ahead and spent some time with the two as he asked them what their plans were for today, only to wryly smile after hearing them tell him that they planned on staying in again for the day.
Scratching the back of his head at their responses, Valyr gave them a heads-up that he was going to head out for the meantime to take a look at the plot of land he’d bought.
With that, both Edward and Wells’ interest were piqued, causing them to ask him if there was anything stopping him from accompanying them on their way back to the frontlines.
Pondering over the question for a bit, he eventually replied that there really wasn’t anything important that was stopping him from joining them, causing the two of them to become expectant for the eventual day they returned to the frontlines with Valyr.
Seeing as the two had nothing else to tell him after that, Valyr soon left the inn, only to then activate [Flight of the Azure Dragon] as he made his way to the plot of land he now owned.
…
Whoosh!
“Huh. Strong winds.” Looking out of the guard tower, a man in his late twenties let out a low sigh as a strong breeze blew around him. “I knew I shouldn’t have trusted those weather
mages.”
“In any case, when is the owner of this land going to come?” Taking his mind away from today’s weather being wrongly predicted, the man looked out of the tower once more, only
for his eyes to widen in disbelief.
Swoosh!
Out of nowhere, a young man appear above the plot of land he guarded on top of an azure dragon, only to dismiss the dragon as he fell down from what looked to be a couple hundred
meters in height.
Feeling a bit of concern towards the young man that suddenly appeared, the man was left at a loss for words once more after seeing the young man catch himself at the very last second, conjuring a gust of wind that immediately negated most of the speed he’d accumulated.
Thud.
“Been a while since I used that movement skill.” Swiping off the dust from his clothes, Valyr had a satisfied smile on his face as he took a look at his current surroundings. Though, before the young man could continue admiring his surroundings for a bit longer, a man eventually came up to him with a slightly vigilant expression.
“G-greetings, sir,” said the man to Valyr after mustering up the courage. “Y-you’re currently within the lands owned by Ylvar of the Blacksmith Guild.”
“W-would it be alright for me to know your identity and purpose in this place?”
“But of course.” Listening to the man’s words, the young man could not help but smile as he
took out the parchment Julian gave him from his spatial bracelet.
Showing the parchment to the man, he then began to grin. “Ylvar of the Blacksmith Guild, at
your service.”
“You won’t mind if I take a look around, right?”
“S-Sir Ylvar!”
Realizing that the person that appeared within the plot of land he was guarding was none
other than the owner himself, the man’s attitude underwent a quick 180 as he became somewhat subservient. “B-by all means!”
With that, Valyr went ahead and thanked the man for keeping an eye on his land while he was
away.
Telling the man after that to keep doing his thing, he also went ahead and asked for the man’s name before parting his way, heading deeper into the land he bought after doing so. “Jacques has a nice ring to it,” muttered the young man as he activated [Azure Dragon Soaring Skies] once more, knowing fully well that he wouldn’t be able to cover the entire plot of land
on foot.
“If I remember correctly, he said he was one of the newer blacksmiths that entered the Blacksmith Guild recently.”
“Hmm… I should probably make a forging hammer for him when I stop by the guild some
time.”
“For now, though… it’s time to figure out what goes where before I bring Ryvrthe and the others out of the inheritance.”
