Chapter 1099: Due Upgrades (2)

“I know the speed at which you forge weapons is incredibly absurd to the point that even I begin to wonder whether I’m actually dreaming… but seriously? You’re seriously telling me you only spent four days to forge 150 weap… ons…?”
Before arriving at the private workshop Valyr occupied, Julian could not help but briefly think to himself that the young man was playing a prank of some sort on him.
Though, after pondering over it for a bit, the man eventually felt that there was the possibility of it being true. After all, the last time Valyr completed a 100 weapon quota for him, it only took him less than a week to do so.
Surely, taking even less time than that to forge 50% more weapons than that was possible, right?
With such questions lingering in Julian’s mind as he made his way to where Valyr was, it went without saying that the man was left at a complete loss for words when he saw a large pile of weapons within the workshop.
Taking some time to compose himself, Julian watched what the young man was doing for a bit before making a beeline to the pile of weapons near the latter.
Then, using his identification skill on each and every one of them, the shock and surprise on the man’s face continued to intensify until he eventually looked at Valyr in disbelief.
“You… you seriously forged 150 weapons in half a week?” asked Julian as he wanted to know what Valyr had done to achieve such a feat.
Looking at his upgraded arquebus with a nod of satisfaction, it was only after putting his arquebus and hammer back in his spatial bracelet did he respond to Julian’s question with a smile. “Well… the proof of my claim is right in front of you.”
“I know that,” replied Julian, only to feel at a loss for words once more. “But… how?”
“You’ve already noticed back then that I ascended to Rank 4 before we arrived the assembly, right?” asked Valyr in response, to which the man nodded back. “That’s partly why I could do what I just did.”
“But for the most part…”
“This would be your answer.”
Whoosh!
Before Julian could even understand what was going on, multiple pairs of arms appeared behind the young man’s back all of a sudden, forming a wheel of translucent limbs that alternated between dark blue and bright white in color.
Staring at this wheel of translucent limbs, Julian went slack-jawed as he recalled the last time the young man had shown him a similar sight.
“Is it just me… or is that a lot more arms than the last time?”
“I’ll have to thank Master for that,” said Valyr with a chuckle, amused at Julian’s reaction. “If not for her, I probably wouldn’t have been able to achieve something like this.”
“The Imperial Alchemist, huh.” Of course, Julian knew who he was talking about. “Well, if that’s the case, then I guess it only makes sense that you’ve drastically improved your forging speed… even if it’s already scaring me.”
“Speaking of which… have you slept yet?” asked the man after that, recalling the young man’s tendencies whenever he picked up a forging quota.
“Nope.” Valyr shook his head with a smile as if it was already the obvious answer. “Then again, it has been a while. I plan on heading to bed after this.”
“But first, the rewards.”
“I know.” Julian nodded, bringing up a screen in front of him before letting out a sigh. “But can you perhaps slow down a bit? We both know that I can give this much to you because of the war, but there’s a limit to how much I can give, you know.”
“I’ll keep that in mind,” said Valyr in response, only to discard the thought not long after. After all, was there really a reason for him to slow down his forging speed?
Realizing that his words hadn’t changed the young man’s mind in any way, Julian inwardly let out a sigh as he called a few staff members of the guild to collect all of the weapons Valyr forged.
After that, he changed the contents of the screen in front of him before interacting with it, causing Valyr to receive a series of notifications from the system not long after.
Ding!
[You have completed the quest: Forging Weapons for War. Remaining time…]
[You have received 225,000 Technology Points as a reward.]
[You have received 225,000 merit points (Blacksmith Guild) as a reward.]
[You currently own 480,000 merit points, which allows you to be promoted to the position of [Rank 4 Lesser Elder].]
[Please contact a director of the Blacksmith Guild to apply this promotion.]
[Your affinity with Julian has increased by 200 points. Current relationship: Confidant.]
[Your reputation in the Blacksmith Guild has increased by 150 points. Current reputation: Well-known.]
[Your reputation in Algerie Kingdom has increased by 30 points. Current reputation: Barely known through hearsay.]
Looking at the notifications he received, Valyr’s eyes widened in surprise when he found out that Julian increased the amount of merit and Technology Points he got by 50%, causing him to look at the man for answers.
“I already told you before, the reward has to match the effort given.” Understanding what was going on in the young man’s mind, Julian already knew what he needed to say, flashing a smile at him as he closed his screen.
“In any case, aside from the fact that you now have enough merit points to afford the Elder Wyvern Core, you also now have enough merit points to ascend your position within the guild.”
“Honestly, with how much you’ve contributed to the Blacksmith Guild so far, I’m sure none of the other directors would be against me promoting you to an even higher position than what you currently have even back then,” said Julian with a shrug. “But I wanted you to experience what it’s like for the other members of the guild to be promoted at least once.”
“Of course, now that I’m thinking about it again, I might probably follow through on giving you an even higher position because of your positions…”
“Ah, whatever. Let’s head to the main hall for now.”
