MMORPG: Rise of the Primordial Godsmith - Chapter 1129 A New Nickname
1129 A New Nickname
“So, what you’re saying is that it’s only a matter of time before we finally get to see your arquebus in action on the battlefield?” Recalling everything Valyr told them earlier as they arrived at the center of the military base, both Hal and Vera continued to look at him with excitement.
“Speaking of which, why didn’t you bring out your arquebus earlier?”
“Well, it still takes a while to get it ready for firing, even if we compare it to the arquebus you’ve distributed across the battlefield so far,” replied Valyr to Hal’s question with a slight shrug, only to then look at them with a slight knowing smile. “Aside from that, would the two of you have been thoroughly convinced of your conclusion from earlier if I had used the arquebus?”
Knowing that Valyr was referring to their conclusion of who among them grew the most since leaving the inheritance, the two unsurprisingly shook their heads in response.
Nodding back at them, Valyr then told them what they truly wanted to know. “In any case, if things turn out smoothly the next few days, the first few sets of armor would make their debut on the battlefield the following week.”
“Then again, considering your positions, I’d hazard a guess that the two of you don’t even care about such armor.” The young man let out a bit of laughter at the thought. “But let me remind you.”
“Even if the armor was at a higher level, you could still equip it without issue. That’s the difference.”
Though the two seemed slightly confused as to what Valyr meant by that, the young man did not delve into the topic any further, having only told the two earlier that the armor’s performance was superb compared to the other types of armor readily available.
After all, if one were to compare it to the other item the young man had gotten the green light on, it undoubtedly paled in comparison.
“As for the arquebus, I’d still have to teach a group of blacksmiths on how to forge a couple of the more important parts that make up the weapon,” continued the young man, which unsurprisingly caught the pair’s interest.
“For that, I’d say that the earliest it might possibly come would be two weeks. But if you want an actually good arquebus, then wait until a month from now.”
“Got it.” Having already experienced the power of the arquebus for themselves back at the inheritance, it went without saying that the two committed Valyr’s words to memory, making a note to themselves to only check out the arquebus at that time.
“So… what now?”
“To be honest, I don’t know either.” Hearing Vera’s question, Valyr went silent for a bit before shrugging his shoulders. “I think we’ve done everything we could for now, honestly.”
Glancing at the sky after that, the young man soon noticed that there was still a few hours before sunset.
Wondering if there was anything else they could do to pass the time, Valyr’s gaze eventually fell onto a certain section of road, causing him to recall what he went through yesterday.
Remembering how the pair obstructed the three of them just earlier after that, a thought soon surfaced in the young man’s mind, causing his expression to become serious. “Say, Hal. Vera.”
“Wanna create a War Squad with me?”
“Hmm?” Turning to look at him, both Hal and Vera became silent in response as they faintly wondered where he got that idea from.
Fortunately, with a bit of mulling over what happened earlier, it did not take long for them to understand why.
“Is this because of the upcoming Elite War Squad Tournament?” asked Hal in response. “Or is this about the pair that pestered you earlier?”
“More of the latter, really,” Valyr told them the truth. “I’m pretty sure the two of you also noticed how they acted. It seems like they’ll stop at nothing to get me to join their War Squad.”
“They do seem like those kind of people.” Hal nodded in agreement, only to give Valyr an apologetic smile soon after. “Unfortunately, we’ll have to decline your offer.”
Though Valyr was slightly surprised by his response, it wasn’t as if he wasn’t expecting it either. “I understand. I did come up with the idea on a whim, anyway.” n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
“It’s not that.” Hal shook his head in response, glancing at Vera for a bit. “It’s just that…”
“We already have a War Squad of our own.”
“…Oh.” Realizing that he’d been a bit hasty in his thought process, the young man went silent as the three of them stared at each other for a bit.
Feeling the atmosphere around them gradually becoming awkward, Valyr decided to break the ice as a similar thought eventually came to mind. “Well, since it seems like I’m not meant to create a War Squad…”
“Mind if I join your War Squad instead?”
“But of course.” More or less expecting the current sequence of events after their refusal, Hal and Vera immediately showed their agreement to the idea, looking at Valyr with bright smiles on their faces.
“Welcome to the Heavenbreaker War Squad… Lord of Death and Despair. Pfft.”
“Why you little…!”
…
After formalizing Valyr’s joining into their War Squad, both Hal and Vera eventually decided to part ways with the young man, telling them that they still had returned to their own battlefield.
With that, the three of them made promises to meet up every once in a while for the sake of their War Squad before truly parting ways, which seemingly lit a flame of motivation deep within the young man.
After getting some proper rest, Valyr opted to not focus on the battlefield for the meantime, instead heading to the Blacksmith Guild’s mission hall after hearing that Elder Alvin had brought a group of talented blacksmiths over.
Keeping in mind that this was one of the terms both sides had agreed to, the young man went ahead and taught them everything they needed to know in order to forge the arquebus.
Naturally, that included the necessary advancements needed to forge the arquebus in the first place, causing many of the blacksmiths to praise the name Ylvar just like many have done so before.
Then, after feeling like he’d done everything he could to prepare the blacksmiths for the mass production of his arquebus, he returned to the battlefield with greater ferocity.
Carrying out mission after mission, Valyr’s previous nickname of Azure Blade gradually faded in the minds of people as he showed his utter dominance in the battlefield.
Instead, a new nickname gradually began to brew in the minds of people, eventually culminating into something that even the young man could not help but admire.
The Warlord of the East.
(2/2) Guessing we reached the GT goal for August, so here’s the reward for that.
