Modern Demon System - Chapter 1
It smelled similar to the perfume used by the president’s daughter, or so Andre remembered. Getting close to her was a mistake. Had she not been a decoy, Andre would not die on the limousine. The scent of her lethal perfume was the last thing that he had remembered when he drove the limousine back into the presidential palace.
Andre previously worked as a military contractor or mercenary if the word was softened. He worked as a personal assistant for the president’s daughter, as her bodyguard, and as her personal servant. He was proud of his skill as a mercenary. He was a skilled solo infiltrator, especially since he was the one who rescued the president’s family every time one of them got kidnapped.
Opening his eyes, he looked at the person in front of him. The person was not as Andre expected she would be. His boots were made from steel. As his gaze moved forward, that person was a white-haired woman wearing full-plate armor. It was totally weird. If she was a soldier, she could have worn the same combat uniform that Andre currently wore.
Looking back and forth, Andre saw a very large bed and a big wardrobe.
“It looks like the summoning spell works,” the woman said.
Andre looked at her. “Who are you?”

Andre became more confused as some sort of status screen appeared in front of his eyes. It disappeared immediately as he avoided gazing into the status screen and looking back at that woman. It seemed that the screen was visible and everyone could see it. However, Liliana’s reaction was as if she didn’t care about that thing.
“Who am I? I’m the one who summoned you here. I am Princess Liliana, call me Lily,” she said.
For a princess, she looked way too different from what Andre expected from a high-ranked government official. Princess should have dressed in a fancy dress and a glamorous attitude. However, she seemed to have neither.
“Summoned? What do you mean?” Andre asked.
[Mission: Find Out Where You Are]
[Reward: 2 EXP]
Andre became even more confused by the sudden appearance of that quest. Even he became more confused because of the sudden mission window that appeared out of nowhere.
“You are in my bedroom. What? Is that so hard to be understood?”
She was speaking in an unknown language, weirdly enough, Andre could speak in the same tongue as that princess. Still, he wasn’t sure why she was inside that bedroom. There was no explanation for that.
[Mission Complete: 2 EXP has been rewarded]
[2 EXP/350 EXP]
‘Such a simple mission…’
“Now, as my familiar, I think I know what I should ask. Would you kindly give me a cup of tea?” She asked.
[Mission: Give Master A Cup Of Tea]
[Reward: 5 EXP]
“Wait a damn minute, why am I given a quest?”
“A quest? I didn’t give you a quest, but I certainly ask you to get me a cup of tea in the kitchen.”
[Mission: Give Master A Cup Of Tea]
Objective Updated: Go to the kitchen and ask for tea from the head butler.
[Reward: 5 EXP]
“Ok, I understand. Where is the kitchen?” Andre asked.
“The eastern section of the mansion. I think you can find it by yourselves,” she said.
“Ok, fine…”
Andre got out of the bedroom and the first thing that he noticed was how big the hallway of that mansion was. It was really big, probably bigger than the hallway inside of a train. There was a park in the middle of the mansion which was surrounded by a rectangular hallway.
Andre walked in the east direction, albeit not knowing who he had to talk to nor knowing who was that princess. The gardeners were maintaining the park. Some of them were cutting the bushes while the others cleaning the benches and the tables.
The way that those people that were around the mansion dressed reminded him of his experience when he was walking around the royal palace in England. They dressed in some kind of butler and maid outfit.
The problem was Andre didn’t know where the kitchen was nor where was the hallway that led to the kitchen. Still, he only had to go to the eastern side of the building just to find the kitchen.
So… he chose one door on the eastern side of the courtyard. The door was very big, it didn’t look like a door to a kitchen, but rather a door to some sort of a pedestal room. Nevertheless, Andre opened that door.
Once the door was opened, the smell of dead rats entered his nose. It made him thought that he was in some sort of junkyard. However, there were a lot of bottles in that room that were filled with a liquid of unknown origin. In particular, there was a liquid with two beads that looked like an eyeball.
On the other side of the room, there was someone looking like a witch. She wore a long robe and a witch hat. He stepped inside of the room because of his curiosity. The moment he entered the room, the candles were lit as he walked closer to the person. The door behind him was shutted by an unknown entity.
The witch looked back at him. Andre responded by pulling out his Glock pistol from his pants and aimed it at the witch. His palm sweated vigorously as he aimed at the supernatural creature whose origin was unknown. Her face was ugly, she looked like a grandma of some sort, but with a lot of wrinkles and her face was as pale as hell.
“Who, who are you?” Andre aimed his pistol while trembling.
“Intruder!” The witch shouted and before Andre knew it, a fireball appeared on her hand.
Andre jumped to one of the potion racks to take cover. He dumb fired his pistol at that witch. That witch was awkwardly strong, somehow, that fireball exploded in a manner to a small blast grenade. For Andre, it was something that he hadn’t ever seen before.
BANG BANG BANG
Andre fired three bullets at the direction of the witch. Three of them hit her in the head, but Andre was even more surprised when all of the bullets didn’t even scratch the witch. “What the hell are you?” Andre said as he shot his pistol at that witch head.
BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG
Suddenly, Lily kicked the door of that room. “Grandma!”
Andre stopped shooting her pistol the moment Lily called that witch her grandmother. Andre was still trembling because he was shocked when more than five bullets in the head weren’t enough to stop a person. Hell, those bullets barely scratched that grandma.
“Grandma, are you ok?” Lily asked her grandma as she helped Andre to stand up.
“Who, who is this person?” Andre asked.
“She is my grandma. What are you doing in here? Grandma hates intrusion, moreover from a person like you,” Lily said to Andre.
“My dear, who’s this?” Lily’s grandma asked.
“Grandma, this is the familiar that I summoned to guard me. I don’t know who his name is, but he seems to be strong,” Lily said.
“Oh, sorry for the fireballs. But you should have knocked first before you enter. I thought that you were an intruder,” Grandma said.
“Ma, no, this is…. what is your name?” Lily asked Andre for his name.
“Andre Frazier. Call me Andre,” he said.
“Andre… Hmm, quite a nice name you have there. Grandma, do you have any idea what he is?” Lily asked.
That was a dumb question for Andre, as far as he knew, he was an ordinary human, much like Lily, but not her grandma.
“It seems to be a demonic creature, my dear. Your familiar belongs to a race called Unus Daemonium,” she said.
Andre was a soldier, not a scientist nor a translator. He didn’t know what that grandma was talking about. Still, it was something that he needed to know. Andre was disoriented pretty badly.
[Mission: Give Master A Cup Of Tea]
[MISSION ABORTED]
The same screen appeared in front of his eyes again. This time, it was that notification that was coming out of nowhere. However, it was replaced by another quest.
[Mission: Who Am I?]
[Reward: Unlock Stats]
“Unus Daemonium? That entity has a lot of magical strength ain’t it?” Lily asked.
“Yeah, I guess so. There’s a reason why this creature is easily detected, my dear. Its magical power is astonishingly powerful,” the grandma said.
“Ok, one thing first, I don’t know what the hell both of you are talking about, BUT, where the bloody heck am I and why am I here?” Andre asked.
Suddenly, before Andre knew what the hell was going on, there was another person that entered that room. That person was the guard of that mansion. He seemed to be in a rush. The sweat on his face clearly told it.
“Sir Havalaar, what’s the matter?” Lily asked.
“Your majesty…” He took a deep breath. “Assaults.”
“By who?” Lily asked.
“Empire,” he finished.
