Modern Demon System - Chapter 6
The carriages were marked with the emblem of the Havarian Kingdom, but it seemed to be very odd because the shield that they used was quite similar to the people that were attacking the mansion during the noon. There were two possibilities and one of them was the possibility of being attacked by an Imperial soldier dressed in Havarian Kingdom uniform.
“I have to warn Lily,” Andre said.
Guarding the president’s daughter taught him one thing and that was to be vigilant for anything that created a bad feeling. Trusting his guts was the best course of action in any situation where Andre needed to protect a VIP. Andre immediately went to the bar where Lily was staying. He was afraid that those soldiers were in fact the Imperial soldiers in disguise.
The soldier started entering from one building to another. It made Andre remembered that something was awfully off the limit. It was unusual for soldiers to go checking from one place to another. Soldiers would usually announce if they wanted to evacuate the civilians from the area.
Andre headed to the bar. He opened the door and the waiter intervened him from entering. “Pal, this area is off-limits for servants, you need to wait until your master gets out of the bar on her own,” he said.
“Fuck off!” Andre said.
“With all due respect, I will call the guards on you if you don’t comply with my request of leaving,” the waiter said.
Andre left the place after that. Going guns blazing on such a formal and exclusive establishment was a terrible idea if Andre wanted to preserve the reputation of the princess herself. He needed to find another way in or he could distract the incoming guards from entering the place.
The latter option seemed to be more sensible, especially since Andre was experienced in infiltration to the hostile areas. However, with the butler outfit that he currently wore, that option seemed to be unreasonable as well. At this point, the best option was just to wait. Andre expected that the princess understood that he couldn’t enter the place.
Andre waited near the horse carriage with his hand on his holster. He would be ready to rescue the princess if anyone snatched her with a hostile intention. The soldiers and the carriage got closer and closer to the bar that Andre guarded.
The soldiers on that convoy had caught two or three people from the nearest establishment as well. It would not be a surprise if the princess was arrested as well if his suspicion about the fact that those soldiers were the Imperial soldiers in disguise. The imperial soldiers wouldn’t care whether it was the princess or not, if they wanted to arrest her, they would arrest her without any question.
Sweat started coming down from Andre’s head as the soldiers were approaching the bar. Three soldiers entered that bar. One of them held a musket while the others had a sword on their scabbard. It turned out that soldiers could freely enter that place without being stopped by the waiter of that place.
Andre asked the carriage driver, “Sir, can you prepare to move, I have a bad feeling about the princess’s safety.”
“Ok, I will do what you tell me to do,” he said as he prepared the carriage to get out of the place immediately.
“Meet me at the entrance of the city. I don’t think you would be able to get past those carriages with the princess on board.” Andre pointed his hand at the convoy of the carriage.
“I understand.”
The carriage moved slowly from its parking spot and it headed for the gate of the city. Of course, as expected, the carriage was checked first before it got past the carriage convoy successfully. Andre stood by with his pistol in his hands. He was ready to shoot his way out of that place if it was necessary to get the princess out of there alive and well.
Andre waited and waited for the soldiers to come out of that bar. It turned out that he was wrong, there was nothing that happened on that scene. The soldiers just came in and came out of the place without doing any harm.
“Huff…” Andre let out his breath as he put his pistol into the holster again.
Andre didn’t know the intention of those soldiers, but he was certain that those soldiers had some fishy agenda. Those soldiers came in with a lot of carriages that were illogical if they came from the capital where Lily’s father was staying. Still, if the princess was safe, it would be more than enough for him.
However, there was another matter, Andre couldn’t let the princess know that he sent the carriage away from the bar, Lily would be mad if he found out that Andre sent the carriage without any reason but a mere feeling. Another mission came in front of his eyes.
[Mission: Fix Your Own Fuck-Up]
[Reward: 20 EXP]
‘Ok, ok, jeez, I know that one,’ Andre said as he ran to the city gate to approach the carriage that was waiting for his getaway. It was not a long run by any mean, Andre got there in a very fast time, but her butler outfit became wet because of the sweat as well. The driver of the horse carriage was waiting while having a conversation with the nearest bystander.
“Sir, I think it was a false alarm,” Andre said.
“Very well then. I can’t blame your kiddo. You are supposed to keep her safe, aren’t you? I don’t think the princess will be angry,” the driver said as he got on the carriage again.
Andre got inside of the carriage and the driver drove the carriage back into the establishment where Lily was staying. Still, Andre was curious as to why many soldiers approached the city. If it was a backup from the capital, the amount was too absurd. There was something unpleasant, and Andre could smell it.
