Modern Military System - 23 Kingdom's Counterattack
After the letter accident, the general staff had a meeting in the manner of Portsmouth. Rear Admiral Harold Andersen; the commander of the USS Gerald R Ford CSG, Rear Admiral Elizabeth Baker; The commander of USS Harry S Truman CSG, Rear Admiral Christopher Marquez; the commander of USS Ronald Reagan; Lieutenant General Kochler Konman; The commander of Gracebel Island AFB, Lieutenant General Andrei Balandin; the commander of Portsmouth AFB, Major General Kiril Alexeyev; the commander of Portsmouth Army base and the other high ranking officer were having a meeting on the manor. They saw the sealed letter on the projector and plot a plan for a counter-attack.
The kingdom’s army of the western region had about 300.000 personnel, twelve main forts surrounding the Portsmouth, about 100 knights, and mage wyverns, 25 dragons, thousands of cannon and musket, 5 division of mages, a division of knight, 4 division of regular grunts and a division of officers. Battleship is not in the calculation, but an estimated naval power of 2000 battleship can be expected, so about 895.000 naval personnel in total.
“So, ladies and gentlemen, that’s all I can say about this kingdom capability on offensive and defensive,” Lance finished his explanation as the other officers listened.
“Hmm, a pre-emptive attack on the kingdom sounds very good,” Admiral Marquez said.
“A diplomatic solution sounds more appealing. I think to send our delegation to the kingdom and have an agreement with the king himself. We have a bargaining chip which is General Sharrington,” General Schumann said.
Admiral Andersen drew a plan, a very crude one on a whiteboard, “This is my plan of counter-attack,” he said as he presented his plan which only consisted of three words, “Shock And Awe”. “We can surround the whole territorial water of the Soulisphate kingdom and obliterate any ship that came close to 400 nm of our strike group.
“That’s why we are friend Admiral,” Admiral Marquez said to him.
“Thanks, admiral,” Admiral Andersen replied.
“Ok, the navy plan is set, so how about the airforce?” Lance asked General Balandin and General Konman.
“Easy, AGM-158 cruise missile, a guarantee in destruction,” General Balandin said.
The plan was just to attack the capital with a cruise missile right on the kingdom which was a bad idea for a diplomatic result.
“So the plan is to surround the whole kingdom using the Carrier-Strike-Group and sent them some cruise missile. Is that right Admiral?” Lochlan asked Admiral Marquez.
“So who is the one that going to deliver the cruise missile?” General Balandin asked.
“A squadron of F-15E escorted with a squadron of F-22. Easy right?” General Konman said.
“I suggest a bomber like a B-1 to bomb the entire city,” Lance said.
“So the plan is that we are going to attack directly to the capital?” Melody asked.
“Ok, for the army, what are you going to bring?” Lance asked Andrei.
“Two battalion of M1126 APC for carrying troops, A company of M1128 IFV and A company of M1A2 Abrams. Overall, a regiment should be enough,” General Balandin answered. “Even if our ammo was not enough, we can whack them in our tank and APC,” he continued.
An armored vehicle battalion consists of 58 armored vehicles and a company of tanks consisted of 14 tanks. So overall, they were equipped with at least more than a hundred armored vehicles and fourteen tanks. Each tank carried about 42 rounds of mixed ammunition, and not to mention the number of rounds that the Stryker carried.
“The plan is as this, the CSG will surround the water territory of the kingdom and acts as a naval blockade. The Air force will bomb the western capital out of existence and the army will occupy the town. For note, we will only occupy the western region only. We don’t want to make the enemy of the entire world. Ladies and Gentlemen, plans are set in motion right on tomorrow at 0300. Dismissed,” Lance said and the other general left the meeting room and returned to their base.
Dima and the others still remained in the meeting room. Albeit the situation was far more relaxed. Dima put his feet on the table, Lochlan continued his investigation on Sharrington’s assassination and the women had gone out for the Portsmouth AFB. They will join the AWACS flight for intel gathering; they’re the escort in the F-15C.
“Lochlan, what did you get from our beloved death count?” Lance asked Lochlan who was reading the manor’s secretary journal and note.
Apparently, every event that happened there was written by their beloved secretary that had become Lochlan’s private secretary. Why? She was an intel gatherer/ scout in the secret section of the Soulisphate kingdom before becoming the count’s secretary, after some brainwashing and other procedure, she became a secretary with the rank as same as what she used to have back in Soulisphate kingdom; Major.
“Hmm, Do you want the good news or the bad news?” Lochlan asked as he put away his book of intel and journal.
“The good news first,” Lance said as Lochlan slid him a file on the table.
“Well, I found the main lead and the top-of-the-food-chain person here,” Lance grabbed the file with the mark “TOP SECRET” on it. The file was very black and had a red stamp that had the mark “CLASSIFIED”. “The bad news, well, you can see for yourself.”
Lance opened the file and looked at the picture of an old man in a black robe and sat behind the king of the Soulisphate kingdom. The person that every nobility recognized and knew well since he was the one that can tip the balance in a nobility war, “Yup, if you stab the heart, you will accidentally stab the lungs too. The prime minister is the one that ordered the assassination,” Lochlan said as he showed him the evidence.
“Wow, that was unexpected, well, intel gathering with a CIA size unit is a good thing after all. How many troops did you send to the main capital?” Lance asked.
“Hmm, If I recall well, about a platoon of US Army Delta and Russian SVR RF Zaslon. Well, both of them do their job well. Do you want me to assassinate the prime minister?” Lochlan asked Lance while grabbing his cellphone from his pocket.
“Not now, the kingdom will go into a state of civil war if we do that, maybe later,” Lance replied to him.
“Ok, then, Will Dima go to work today?” He asked as he saw Dima who was sleeping on the chair.
“He took a day off, good night General,” Lance said and he left the meeting room.
“Good night, Lance,” Lochlan said as he turned on his table light and turned off the room lights.
