Monster Cultivation Supply Shop - Chapter 43
As they were staring at each other, the monster jumped out and attacked Aurus as fast as it could. Its claws were out and his mouth was open, ready to bite him to death.
At the same moment, Aurus parried with his sword as Zaya flew upwards and started spewing fireballs at the Waved-Fanged Leopard. Attra on her side spewed fire. Aurus seeing this was quite happy as he didn’t doubt they would soon end the fight. However, just as he was feeling happy, he noticed that Attra was spewing fire everywhere but on the monster.
Giving her a quick glance, he noticed that the dragon’s eyes were closed and that she didn’t look where she was attacking. Because of it, all the surrounding terrain started burning and Aurus had to evade the fire while fighting the monster until Zaya took position between Aurus and Attra.
The fire of the baby dragon didn’t manage to hurt Zaya the slightest. After all, she could ignite her body whenever she wanted and her fire was stronger than Attra’s.
Seeing Zaya blocking the fire for himself while still supporting him, Aurus shouted at Attra to stop spewing fire while he dodged the Leopard’s attack and managed to make a shallow cut on its arm. Normally, the fight would already be done but due to the interference of Attra, the fight was taking longer than he had planned.
However, when she stopped throwing flames everywhere, Aurus easily took back the advantage while Zaya started to support him. It didn’t take ten seconds after Attra stopped ‘helping’ and they managed to finish the fight.
Aurus slashed its head with his sword and the rank up started. It was just like a spring breeze went through his body as all his tiredness disappeared and he felt full of energy.
Seeing that he was already done breaking through, he took the corpse and went back to the walls. The Hunters were plenty and they didn’t need help to take care of the beasts. At the same time, he was only a shopkeeper, he didn’t need to fight the beasts, he just had to have enough resources for them.
Going up the walls once again, he gave the beast corpse and took the crystals before going back to the shop. The beasts’ corpses were quite useful as their bones could be used to make amours or weapons, their meat could be used as food while their various organs were used in research or to feed contracted beasts. Every part of the beast was useful. However, due to a large number of beasts, the prices weren’t that high so Aurus didn’t bother about the credits he would receive.
After all, the beast corpse would get him at most a few hundred credits. However, it would take time to process and considering his own time, he decided to give them the corpse. Moreover, as he was mostly selling the resources in his shop for dozens of crystals each, every transaction was the equivalent of at least 100,000 credits. 10,000 credits were the equivalent to 1 crystal.
So, after ranking up, he didn’t waste any time and made his way back to the shop. Considering he had just ranked up to silver, he was quite happy and decided that he would just enjoy the day before going back to work the next day.
Since he had come to this world, he hadn’t had much free time. He had been in bed for the first week due to being hurt. Afterwards, he started the shop, unlocked various system icons, went to another world multiple times, dealt with morons, found contracted beasts for both himself and Laia, healed his mother, started to build a dungeon and now the city was going to be attacked by a beast tide. Let’s just say that it had been a productive beginning but it had been tiring mentally.
As such, he just planned to laze around for the rest of the day. Not having to care about nobles, customers or beast tide since it would only come the next day.
Walking back home, he nodded to his employees who seemed to always have a smile on their faces no matter how many customers were in the shop and went to the second floor. He ate a few snacks prepared by the fairies and went to his room along with Zaya and Attra. Lying down on his bed, he closed his eyes and thought about everything which had happened to him.
He remembered the three girls who had begged to die. He had nightmares a couple of times about these three girls. After all, it was the first time he had actually killed human beings. Killing beasts and killing humans was a lot different. After all, he could relate to human beings and obviously, he would feel greater emotions about killing them even if it was their wish.
Aurus took a slow breath as he remembered this scene. He remembered the blood everywhere, the massacre he had committed, the women dead eyes and bruised bodies. He continued to remember every scene of that day. His reactions and the emotions of those monsters as he was massacring them.
Ever since the incident, he hadn’t taken the time to review it. He had more or less sealed it in his memories and although it hadn’t been long, he had forced himself to stop thinking about it. But now, he knew that he needed to come to terms with this situation. He couldn’t just kill every monster he ever met. After all, in the world of Ernia, the monsters were created by dungeon masters and they were the ones to control them. He couldn’t blame the monsters for the orders of their dungeon master.
Thinking back at Amuna, who was previously a dungeon master in the other world and currently a dungeon master in his shop, he knew that all dungeon masters weren’t the same. Some indeed wanted to destroy everything and didn’t care about the death of others. And some were like Amuna as she simply traded natural resources for some dungeon points to increase her lifestyle. She hadn’t tried to attack the surroundings but just wanted to stay at her own home, living as freely as she could.
He had no choice but to change his perspective towards monsters. Some monsters were intelligent. He couldn’t just kill them off because of the anger he had towards measly goblins. Moreover, humans weren’t the only being who could gather crystals and in the future, maybe some intelligent monsters would come to the shop with the hope to improve their own strength. He couldn’t close his heart and have a single opinion towards monsters. They weren’t all the same and Aurus understood that his character had been quite detestable after he carried out this massacre.
“So, in the future, I’m only going to fight monsters to defend myself or monsters I need to kill for various reasons. In this world, cultivation allows monsters to have intelligence at our level or above our level which means that they don’t all want to destroy humans. It’s the same thing in the other world. However, the monsters in the dungeons will have to be exterminated whenever I subjugate a dungeon as they would all run out of the dungeon and kill everything in their surroundings which is very dangerous.” He finished talking in a low tone to himself and relaxed. Zaya and Attra had been listening to his rambling but he was certain they didn’t completely understand his words.
That day, he decided to not go to the other world as he was relaxing. Anyway, he had already bought enough resources for the shop and he didn’t have any coins left in that world which meant he couldn’t bring back a lot of resources.
The next morning, Aurus woke up with a lot of energy. He went to get breakfast that the fairies had already prepared and he ate with relish. Three employees were eating with him as the other three were still working in the shop. They would soon change and the ones who had been working would come and eat and then go to sleep.
At the great joy of Aurus, Amuna had come to eat breakfast with everyone that morning. He had a great time talking with her and after breakfast, he took a look at the store before turning back to his two contracted beasts.
“Okay. In the fight yesterday, Zaya helped a lot. However, Attra, we will need to work on your combat training. You can’t just close your eyes when you spew your fire. After all, you can’t see your target without looking can you?” As he said so with a smile, Attra lowered her head and looked at the ground. Aurus seeing this cute scene patted her head lightly and tried to encourage her.
“But, it’s fine Attra. You were just born recently so it’s normal that you weren’t very good at combat. While closing your eyes in a fight is not safe, but it’s normal to close your eyes when you are scared. We will train with you and you will become good just like Zaya so don’t worry.” When Aurus finished his words, Attra lifted her head a little and she looked at Aurus as if a tear was going to fall at any moment.
Alright, we will be training you in the other world from today onwards.
