Monster Farmer In A Different World - Chapter 3 Augmented Reality Farming
Alten was sipping on Longjing tea when Thak came in with a dignified looking middle age man behind him.
“And this young man right here is the new owner of the farm, Alten Heheh!”
Two pair of eyes looked at each other, then at the old goblin, then at each other several times.
“Whattt?!!!!”
“WHAT?!”
A pair of voice, one young and one middle aged sounding, yelled in surprise…
Valentino’s jaw dropped to the floor a second time.
“Alten, this man here is my friend Williamo, the reeve from the town of Taiyang. And this young guard is his nephew, Valentino, the city guard vice captain.”
“Uhhh, nice to meet you guys!”
‘This person has a last name, he must be a noble’, Williamo thought. ‘I better not get on his bad side’.
“Hel – Hello, Alten Heheh.” Williamo said while doing a low bow.
“Hello sir Alten Heheh!” Valentino followed his uncle’s action and bowed as well.
“Wait, what? No, that’s not it! Sigh…”
Thak looked at Alten, Valentino and Williamo for a while then smiled and coughed to clear his throat.
“Right, since you are all now acquainted with each other, let’s continue. Williamo, did you bring that thing?”
“Uh, what? Oh yes, I brought it. Hang on.”
Williamo passed a bag to Thak.
“Excellent! Now, before we begin, let us all sit down and enjoy this tea.”
Everybody sat down on the table and took a sip. Meanwhile, Thak took a document out of the bag, looked at Alten and Williamo, pointed to the document and started to explain.
“This is the deed to this farm. It is magical in nature, and thus is indestructible.”
“Whoa!”
“Amazing!”
“Holy!”
Thak then showed the others the text written on the deed.
“This deed proves that the bearer of signature below, Thak, is the current owner of the farm currently known as ‘Cursed Goblinslayer Circus’, and is thus liable for taxes and all therein responsi… ah, wait! The writing is in some strange text, but somehow I can read it!”
Alten realized in shock.
“Ohohoho, that’s the magic of the farm too. Now I’m transferring this farm to you, so do what I do”.
“Wait, are you sure you want to do this?” asked Williamo with a frown.
“I’m sure, I’m sure.” Turning to Alten, Thak said “we need a little bit of your blood, so follow what I do. Just a little prick will do”.
“Un!”
Thak then took out a knife and prick his thumb with the pointy edge. Green blood start flowing and he pressed it onto the deed. The deed suddenly glowed golden and started to hum as it absorbed the green blood. He then passed the knife to Alten.
“Now it’s your turn”.
Alten took the knife, gulp and pricked his thumb which started to bleed a little. He then pressed his thumb onto the deed, which then started to glow golden brightly as it absorbed Alten’s blood. The farm started to shake, shocking the occupant inside.
“Waaahhh! What’s happening?”
The shaking stopped as soon as it started, and the deed stopped glowing.
“It seems the deed transferral is complete. Let’s read it shall we?”
“Un! This deed proves that the bearer of signature below, Alten Heheh, is the current owner of the farm currently known as ‘Happy Tree Farm’, and is thus liable for taxes and all monies generated therein, for the good… wait, what? Are you kidding me! No! That’s not my name….”
Alten read the deed and sighed in frustration.
“Congratulations to the new owner of… Happy Tree Farm? Hope to have a good business relation with you for many years to come” beamed Williamo. Alten only rubs his forehead in exasperation.
“Ohohohoho!” Thak smiled and exclaimed in excitement. He then takes the deed from Alten’s had and put it in the bag before handing it to Williamo.
“As the official town reeve who witnessed this farm transfer, and seconded by Valentino from the city guard, I shall get it notarized as soon as possible. Well, I better get going and get this done as soon as possible.”
Williamo and Valentino both stood up and went to the exit with Valentino turning to face Alten before he smiled and waved before quickly following his uncle.
“Well, with that out of the way, let us get you familiarized with the farm.”
“Oh, that’s ok, I’m a farmer so I kinda know how to probably run one, I guess heh heh…” Alten smiled sheepishly when he remembered how he mismanaged his farm for the last 5 years.
“I just wish I knew how to travel between world by turning on the augmented reality menu syste…”

“Whoa! The AR Menu pop up!”
Surprised, Thak looked at the menu floating in the middle of the kitchen.
‘It seems the witch was right…’ he thought.
“This looks like the standard farming menu in game! Wooot! Unlimited feed silo, wow, that’s insanely useful! And I now have the world transfer skill, yesh! But… it says current monster is none… how do I fill up the Monsteropedia? I guess I need to know some before I can start raising any?”
Alten touch the X button at the top right of the menu to make it disappear.
“About that… there is an expert on monster who also works as a monster wholesaler that comes around here every week to buy them from this farm. In fact, he is scheduled to come in tomorrow. Why don’t we find out more about it from him then?”
“Ah, ok, good idea!”
Looking outside, the old goblin remarked “It’s getting dark soon, so I’m going to prepare dinner, then head off to bed. You’re welcome to join me, I can have the spare room ready in a jiffy as well. Or would you rather like to test the World Transfer skill instead… and teleport back to your world now and come back here tomorrow?”
“Erm, I guess I’ll stay. I’ll need to learn more about this world, and kinda curious about the food stuff here too.”
“Ohohoho, alrighty then”.
Thak prepared dinner and turned on the Magic Lantern. They had a lively conversation over dinner, and when it was over, they went out to the porch to have more Longjing tea and more conversation while looking at the stars. Alten was shocked and amazed at the 7 moons, each with different color. After stargazing a while longer, they turned in for the night.
