Monster MMORPG: Mayhem Online - Chapter 139 0139. A Wipeout
[You have consumed an ‘Old Rock Golem’s Core’]
[Metamorphosis Index: 69%—–71%]
“Hahahaha!”
Shura started laughing as soon as he got the notification. To think there was such a mine right in front of him.
‘I was an idiot for not realising till now.’
In this world, everything that had sentience, be it someone like humans or animals with soul or golems without soul. As long as they were counted as individuals by the world of Mayhem, eating their ‘flesh’ or ‘heart’ will increase Shura’s metamorphosis index.
At this point, people had stopped looking at Shura and his antiques and started focusing on attacking the golems with everything they had got.

[Just what in the world is going on here? Merely a moment ago, everyone was despairing on how to kill these giants that seemed like unsurpassable mountains. But a single word from the legendary class holder Shura had given such a huge boost to the player side!
While Iqol, Bowser, Malaika, Elexis and the others are squeezing out whatever attacks they have left in their arsenal, the person who discovered the old rock golem’s weakness is easily hunting them and…. eating their cores.
Why is player Shura eating rocks?]
“This host! He clearly knows that Shura needs to eat monster hearts to power up, yet he is riling up everyone without telling them the truth!”
A Shura fangirl who was watching the whole situation on her holographic screen angrily munched down on her burger as she cursed the vile host.
Her Shura wasn’t a beast like he was portraying for everyone. He was one of the most handsome humans alive.
That was right, this crazy fangirl had a whole different perspective of Shura formed in her head, with roses and thorns scattered around and her overly polished Shura walking up to her in a pink background, looking deeply in her eyes with tender love and affection.
—-Smack!
“Hey, don’t doze off.”
A hand smacked the back of her head as soon as she was about to depart in her own world of imagination where there was only her and Shura.
“You fuc—”
—-Smack!
“Don’t curse your big brother.”
“Just you wait you doofus, I am gonna make you regret hitting me.”
“Alright, alright. Just don’t doze off right now, we need to thoroughly watch the whole situation. You’re not just enjoying a tournament right now, you are also working.”
“Oh really? Thanks for reminding me. I am so glad you told me otherwise I wouldn’t know.”
Kim Sangah grumbled in a sarcastic voice as she focused on the screen in front of her.
The man in a long coat and slim t-shirt behind her was her elder brother Kim Jaewoon. And both of them were known as Korea’s top rankers in Mayhem.

After what seemed like an eternity, a hundred and fifty thousand golems were down, and there were still about 50 players standing, huffing like they had just run the world’s longest marathon.
Currently, everyone was standing blankly because after the number hit 150,000, the golems stopped spawning.
[???? ??????, ??? ???? ??????? ??. ??? ???? ???? ?????!]
An angry voice suddenly shook the whole room as Anubis, the god of the dead, stood up from his chair and said something in a language that sounded very ancient.
“Did he just say ‘Vile humans, you have angered me. Pay with your lives!’.”
Shura said deadpanned, and everyone looked at him.
“What?”
Shura couldn’t understand why everyone was so surprised.
“How did you understand what he said?”
Grant asked Shura what everyone was thinking in their brain.
“Oh? So I was the only one who understood what he said?”
[??????? ??????? ?? ????????? ???????!]
“I know you guys didn’t understand it, but he just said ‘Crumble beneath my commander legions’. And I don’t think it’s going to be pleasing. Stay on your toes.”
—-Shake! Shake!
The whole ground started shaking as if a huge earthquake had come, but this time, nothing appeared out of the ground.
“Look at the end of the hall! At the end!”
Someone shouted and sure enough, the whole earthquake was nothing more than a march of skeletons.
But these didn’t look like your average joe skeletons, every single one of them was fully equipped with plated body armour and had their eye sockets filled with either blue or red flames.
“Oh boy, oh boy. This doesn’t look too good.”
Shura said out loud. Every player in the remaining 50 or so was currently maxed in their levels, but they still couldn’t gather the courage to fight what was coming from in front of them at a slow and steady pace.
Every step of the skeletons was matched with the other as if a veteran army that had gone through many wars.
“Each of them is level 50…”
As the skeleton army slowly approached the players, they could finally make out the levels and names of the skeletons.
“Names?”
Unlike the monsters up until now, all of the skeleton soldier’s had a name above their head, an actual name which differed from one skeleton to the other.
“Don’t tell me…”
It wasn’t hard to guess at this point. The skeleton army in front of the players once used to be human NPCs.
‘Well, this turned dark real fast.’
Shura lamented. He was sure that he was feeling what everyone else was feeling currently.
Although the levels were showing to be 50, he could feel a ginormous pressure coming out of the skeletons, something that he wouldn’t see from monsters at even level 200.
‘We won’t win this.’
“Let’s go all out guys, it’s time we end this shitshow.”
‘But it’s still worth a try!’
And soon after, a battle that shook the whole bunch of viewers from around the world took place.
***
[38 seconds.
That’s how long it took.]
The host spoke slowly as exasperated sighs left the mouths of viewers and audience from around the world. Almost everyone had unbelievable expressions formed on their faces.
An absolute massacre.
That’s what happened.
As soon as the skeleton’s received the command to attack from Anubis, it took merely thirty eight seconds before every single player was wiped out from the raid without any exceptions.
Not even the almighty Iqol or back to back wonder thrower Shura could do anything about the skeletons before they were butchered like sheeps in a slaughterhouse.
Steam and gas came out of the capsules of the remaining fifty players one by one before everyone came out.
What was surprising though was the expressions of joy on their faces.
“Yo man, good work.”
Abel said as his capsule was closer to Shura’s. Instead of turning away from him or making a snarky reply, Shura just smiled brightly.
“Yeah, good work.”
On the other hand, Iqol just walked past everyone, as he just eyed Shura once from the corner of the eye before moving to the main stage, a huge platform rising on the area where the bronze players were.
[Everybody! A huge round of applause! I think they deserve it.]
The host urged the crowd to cheer on, and belatedly, the audience realised their silence before the whole stadium went into an uproar.
Claps, whistles and cheers were resounding from every part of the stadium, as MIT’s theme song started playing in the background with confetti and other celebratory items falling on the stage.
[What a spectacle! What an absolute spectacle! I am having a hard time believing my own eyes!]
The host himself clapped loudly as the players in the stadium started walking up to the stage.
The audience started chanting the names of their favourite player, and unexpectedly, it wasn’t just Abel, Iqol, Shura, Malaika, but it included everyone who had survived the raid till the skeletons spawned.
[It had been a wonderful event filled with all kinds of emotions from both the players and our dear audience, and I can’t believe that the players held out for so long. A personal shoutout to Shura for his weird manoeuvers and tactics, and a shoutout to Iqol and Lynch for their efforts that helped all the players overall to reach so far ahead in the raid.
Now, a word from our chairman, Mr Terry Corbyn.]
Just then, a huge hologram of Terry appeared in the stadium, garnering the attention of both the players and the audience.
“First of all, congratulations to everyone who has made this far in the raid, and thank you all for participating. My appearance today was not scheduled, but I have to be the one to say it personally.”
Terry looked touched as he continued to speak.
“The players were never supposed to progress so far into the event. Even managing to defeat 300 thousand mummies would have been enough of a feat. But to think that you almost defeated a million strong army, truly commendable.”
“It’s so astonishing that none of the Kibea staff even slightly expected this outcome, including myself. This event should have been over hours ago, yet it lasted so long and our great audience showed so much patience and love for the players. It has truly all been very heartwarming, and it has been a huge milestone for Kibea corporation as a whole.”
“I am not here just to blabber on about your achievements without showing my sincerity, and so, we at Kibea, have decided to add an extra remuneration for everyone who held out till the skeleton army. One thing to note will be that this is an extra amount and you’ll still be receiving your promised remunerations from earlier with this as your performance bonus.”
“I am sure all of you are tired, so we will call it a day and continue the third day of MIT tomorrow. Hope our players have a decent amount of rest for that.”
Saying so, Terry’s hologram disappeared, leaving behind a few smiling faces from the players.
