Moonlight Ball - Chapter 95
Iris glanced back. She didn’t know what to say. But even if Duke Zeneth woke up, he wouldn’t be able to complain to her. He was part of the treason.
“Ah, he’s sleeping?”
Why is he sleeping in the café? Elena wondered.
Iris quickly left the café, not caring whether people were confused or not. As her steps became quick, Elena and the maids that accompanied her had no choice but to go after her.
While everyone looked confused, she immediately went to her study and drank the tea that the head of the maid gave her. As she couldn’t open the paper with the people involved in treason in front of other people, she had to remember the connection in her head.
She knew almost everyone from the Magic Tower…
Iris was Elaine’s disciple, his knight. She knew all the names of important people in the Magic Tower. But the people in the palace or temple, army, she only remembered them by their title, so there were many people she didn’t know. Iris had yet to remember a list of all the nobles.
Their plan of treason had spread and progressed much more than she had anticipated, but how could it have not been revealed when there were too many people involved?
Iris kept contemplating until she was left alone in her bedroom at night. She was too silent, Elena had to ask if she was alright a few times. Iris said she was fine and acted as such, but a few times she forgot her facade, and Elena noticed.
Teacher, I have to see teacher. Iris lifted the ivory bracelet and called her mentor.
<Teacher, it’s Iris. It’s something urgent.>
But there was no answer. It wasn’t surprising. If they couldn’t answer, they didn’t react to it. Iris also heard her teacher calling through the ivory bracelet a few times but she didn’t react to it because she was with Sidrain.
<Teacher, it’s really urgent.>
She had to meet her teacher and discuss. There was no way her savior’s name was in such a list.
Iris pondered for a bit while holding up the ivory bracelet. There was a code between Iris and Elaine in case there was something really urgent. That code was decided solely by Elaine and Iris was very against it, but the disciple couldn’t beat the teacher.
Iris hesitated even during all this. She never said the urgent code before. Honestly, she thought she was certain there was no way she was going to use the code. She disliked it to that point. But, her teacher was part of treason.
Iris pondered and pondered and then opened her mouth. She really didn’t want to say it but she had to let him know how urgent this was.
<D, d, d, ad, I l, love, y, you>
[Dad, I love you <3]
This – including the heart – was the urgent code that Elaine decided. Elaine wanted to hear the word dad from Iris time to time but Iris never said it. She hated it. It wasn’t because she didn’t like her biological dad, but she didn’t like the word dad or love. She thought of Elaine as father and respected him but still didn’t like it.
Goosebumps immediately spread on her neck. She grimaced. But Elaine instantly appeare, wearing an expression of surprise and joy.
“What did you say? Iris, say it again.”
“Teacher!”
“Not that!”
Elaine was giggly. He wanted to hear the word dad from his stepdaughter for a long time. But Iris was shaking her head in agony.
“No.”
His stepdaughter and disciple, Iris, was very dull. She was ready to give her life for her stepdad but she couldn’t say things like ‘I love you’.
“Say it one more time.” Elaine walked up to Iris and rushed her.
“No way.”
Iris stepped back while frowning.
“I’ll leave then,” Elaine threatened.
“Teacher! It’s urgent! It’s the urgent code!” Iris complained.
“Surely you won’t die after saying it a couple more times?” Elaine teased.
“I will! Anyways, look at this.” Iris whined as she handed him the paper, which contained explicit information regarding the treason. She pointed at the paper and said, “I drew the connection between all the people involved in treason and you’re in it!”
What? Elaine took Iris’s hand, thinking it was ridiculous. Why is my name in the middle of the people who are doing useless things like treason? He looked at the connection tree that Iris wrote down. On top, as expected, was Queen Rosemary, then Duke Zeneth, and many people continued, and then there was Elaine, the head of Magic Tower.
Why is my name here? Elaine pondered for a moment. If he was part of the treason, that meant the entire Magic Tower was part of the treason. If it was the case, then this would’ve been done already. If it was true, then the treason would’ve succeeded already.
But there was no way to have such a huge group preparing treason and not have one betrayal. This would’ve, no, should’ve already been revealed.
“Who helped you with this?” asked Elaine.
“I drew it but… I acquired the information from Duke Zeneth. I convinced him to tell me after I said my memory was a bit chaotic since the carriage accident,” replied Iris.
Ah, it seemed like she got it pretending to be the Queen, Elaine thought, impressive.
