Morbid Attachment - Chapter 14
When the three of them left, Song Ge was already drunk. He and Ren Ran sent Song Ge onto a taxi. Song Ge was drunk and red-faced, grabbing their hands and saying in a weeping voice that they were the best of brothers.
Ji Wang coaxed him, “Okay, okay, don’t cry, maybe I should take you home.”
He was a little worried that Song Ge wouldn’t be able to climb the elevator in this state. Grabbing Song Ge’s arm, Ji Wang said, “Xiao-Ren, you can go home by yourself, I’ll send him first.”
As soon as his voice fell, Ren Ran said, “Let’s go together.”
Song Ge giggled, “Go! Let’s go to my house for the second party.”
He was already drunk to this degree, what second party? Ji Wang was speechless, but he still attentively took care of Song Ge on the road. When they reached their destination, Song Ge was already thoroughly passed out from the alcohol. Ji Wang silently cursed him. His alcohol tolerance was so bad but he still loved to drink.
Ji Wang put Song Ge on his back and said to Ren Ran, “How do you plan on going back later?”
Ren Ran whispered, “Didn’t Song Ge say there’s a second party at his house? After getting drunk, sleeping at Song Ge’s house is fine. Wasn’t this the case before, when the two of us used to play video games at your house all night.”
Ji Wang frowned, “You’re an omega now, you can’t act like before.”
Ren Ran loudly said, “I’m an omega, so now I can’t be your brother?!”
Ji Wang was taken aback, “I didn’t mean that.”
Ren Ran, “You know full well…I don’t want to be an omega. If you guys act like this, then I’ll be even more uncomfortable.”
Ji Wang quickly apologized, “I’m sorry, I was wrong.”
Ren Ran didn’t speak and Ji Wang didn’t dare to say anything. He skillfully entered the password of Song Ge’s house, put the person on the sofa, went to the bathroom to wet Song Ge a hot towel, looked for hangover medicine, and boiled some hot water.
During this period, Ren Ran had been standing in the living room with his arms crossed. Seeing that Ji Wang was comfortable as if in his own home, he suddenly said, “Ge, do you really forgive me?”
Ji Wang came out with a towel and wiped Song Ge’s face, “What did you say?”
In fact, Ji Wang didn’t fail to hear what Ren Ran said, but he didn’t want to mention the past. He had decided to let it go, but repairing the relationship wasn’t something that could be done right away.
But since he’d decided to meet, he didn’t want to continue to be in a deadlock with Ren Ran.
Ren Ran smiled bitterly and said, “It’s nothing, do you have water? I want to take a sip.”
Ji Wang pointed to the kitchen, then went into Song Ge’s guest bedroom to set it up, and finally came out, “Are you going to stay here to sleep tonight?”
Ren Ran held the glass of water, “Yes, what about you?”
“I have a shoot tomorrow so I have to go home and pack my luggage.” Of course, this was a lie. It was impossible for Ji Wang to do as Ren Ran said and have the three of them stay the night together.
There were only two rooms in Song Ge’s house. He couldn’t sleep with an alcoholic, and even more so couldn’t lie with an omega.
You could call him old-fashioned or say he had differential treatment, but Ren Ran was an omega and they couldn’t be the same as before.
Even Ji Wang couldn’t guarantee he wouldn’t lose control when faced with an omega’s heat pheromones.
Ji Wang put on his coat and walked to the door, “There are disposable underwear and toothbrushes in the bathroom cabinet, and Song Ge’s room has clothes. He’ll wake up in the middle of the night to vomit once when he’s drunk, so just put him on the sofa and cover him with a blanket. It’ll spare him from throwing up on the bed.”
Ren Ran grunted and put on his shoes, “I’ll accompany you to the gate of the community.”
“Okay.” Ji Wang didn’t refuse.
After Ren Ran closed the door, he walked in front of Ji Wang. His neck was slender and fair, and the back of his neck was clean, without any traces of a mark.
Ji Wang’s eyes were fixed on it for a while before gently moving away.
The two walked together, silent all the way. Several lights in the community were turned off so it wasn’t bright. In the dark, Ren Ran said, “Ge, won’t you ask me if I have someone I like after all these years away?”
Ji Wang casually asked, “Then do you?”
“Yeah.” Ren Ran softly replied.
Ji Wang breathed a sigh of relief, “That’s good, remember to bring them over for me to meet.”
Ren Ran added, “He doesn’t like me.”
Ji Wang was practically embarrassed to death. He felt that he couldn’t continue talking today. He stared at the shadow on the ground, and suddenly a terrifying thought flashed through his mind, “It couldn’t be Qi Boyan!”
Because he was too surprised, his voice split. Ren Ran immediately denied it, “Am I crazy?! How could I like that kind of bastard!”
These words scolded Ji Wang as well, and Ji Wang snorted dryly, “It’s good if it’s not.”
Ren Ran took a long sigh and his voice changed, full of gloom, “You still blame me.”
Ji Wang wanted to smoke a little bit. He put his hand in his pocket but came up empty and he could only scrape the skin on his leg through the cloth, again and again, “Forget it, Xiao-Ran, it’s meaningless to keep bringing up the past. We’ve been broken up for six years.”
He didn’t know whether Ren Ran believed it or not, but he didn’t bring this topic back up later.
As soon as he arrived at the gate of the community, Ji Wang got into the car and stared at the rear-view mirror. He saw Ren Ran’s shadow getting smaller and smaller in the mirror and he also felt a little melancholy in his heart.
Ren Ran asked a few times today if he blamed him, but Ji Wang didn’t answer. In fact, Ji Wang didn’t know either. He couldn’t make sense of this old account.
If searching his heart, Ji Wang wasn’t a saint. Of all things, he hated Qi Boyan the most. But Ren Ran was innocent, and he knew Ren Ran hadn’t made many mistakes. Still, he had no way of restoring Ren Ran to be his purest friend.
Just like now, he didn’t understand why Ren Ran chose such an extreme way to tell him to see Qi Boyan for what he was.
After getting in the car for the return journey, Ji Wang turned on his phone and glanced at it again. There were still no missed calls. He bumped his forehead against the window glass, feeling very tired.
He was annoyed with himself, his spineless and cowardly self.
When would he be able to move forward? Qi Boyan was right. He’d wanted to form a family with an omega since he was a child. He lost his parents at a young age and developed a stronger yearning for family than ordinary people.
Qi Boyan was like a temptation-filled fork in his life. He walked through it just once and now he could never find his way back to the right path.
Exiting the car and on his way home, Ji Wang finally found a cigarette on his jacket. He took it out, took a puff, and walked home while smoking.
His apartment hallway light was broken and management hadn’t come to fix it. In the darkness, there was only the spark of flame in Ji Wang’s hand. When he came to the door, Ji Wang entered the password, and before he opened the door, he suddenly flicked the cigarette in his hand behind him and punched out with a quick and precise punch.
His fist was clenched and twisted vigorously behind his back. Ji Wang was restrained and fiercely slammed into the door.
The attacker put his nose to his neck and Ji Wang suddenly stopped all movements. He already knew who it was, the reason why he looked at the phone countless times, the culprit who ruined his dream of a family.
He’d fallen in love with an alpha and this alpha had changed his life. How could he get married to an omega?
The cool tip of his nose rubbed against his neck, like a big cat acting spoiled, but his voice was so cold. Qi Boyan said, “Where did you come back from, you smell like an omega.”
Ji Wang wanted to say, aren’t you familiar with this scent? Stop pretending. But he couldn’t say it out loud, it would only embarrass them both.
He emphasized each word, saying, “Let go of me.”
Qi Boyan let go of his wrist, but his chest was tightly pressed against Ji Wang’s back, “I won’t let go, what if you beat me up?”
He didn’t seem to care about Ji Wang’s smell anymore. Qi Boyan kissed Ji Wang’s neck, “Have you changed your phone number? I called your old number for several days.”
It’d been six years, how could he still use the same number? However, Ji Wang didn’t explain, “Go away.”
Qi Boyan sullenly laughed, “The password for your door hasn’t changed, I just tried it out.”
His password was Qi Boyan’s birthday. Suddenly Ji Wang was stung and fiercely struggled.
Qi Boyan held him back, “Let me in, or I’ll walk out of your house without a hat or mask. Guess what the headline will be tomorrow?”
Ji Wang gritted his teeth, “Are you crazy?”
Qi Boyan’s nice voice sounded in his ear, “I spent three days filming all night, just to squeeze in one day to see you. Gege, I’m too tired, let me go in and sleep.”
