Morbid Attachment - Chapter 20
The makeup artist saw this and said in surprise, “Ji-laoshi, are you allergic? Your face is too red.”
Ji Wang quickly stood up and went along with her words: “Maybe.”
The makeup artist was alarmed: “It’s so unlikely, I chose a very mild makeup remover. Go quickly wash your face. There’s a faucet next to you. I’ll give you a spray later to calm your skin.”
Ji Wang saw the makeup artist was nervous and felt sorry for her, but he couldn’t take back his words, “Don’t panic, it’s not that serious, it’ll be fine after I wash it off.”
Going back and forth like this, Ji Wang couldn’t blush anymore and only felt very embarrassed.
Xiao Xu, who saw through him, looked at his Wang-ge with a complicated and tangled feeling. He was a little speechless.
After the makeup artist left, Ji Wang asked Xiao Xu when the photo would be released.
Xiao Xu said it wasn’t very fast. It would probably be sent to his work email in about a week.
Ji Wang said to Xiao Xu, “Send me a copy of the photo you secretly took just now.” He thought about it again: “Don’t post the photos with Qi Boyan on Weibo, even if Hong-jie agrees.”
He didn’t want others to say he was tying himself to Qi Boyan for hype before the variety show started. Even if he was an 18th-tier actor, he still had self-respect.
There was a knock on the door to the dressing room. Li Feng was outside and Xiao Xu stiffly said, “What’s the matter?”
Li Feng had an apologetic expression on his face: “Is Ji-laoshi preparing to leave?”
Xiao Xu’s intuition felt bad. Li Feng was actually very embarrassed. He knew that he’d already thoroughly offended Xiao Xu and Ji Wang, but this was what Qi Boyan instructed, so he could only carry it out.
Li Feng: “Master Qi wants to have a late-night snack with Ji-laoshi. I wonder if Ji-laoshi will be free.”
Ji Wang slowly packed his things: “I’m not free.”
He straightforwardly refused, took the backpack, and grabbed Xiao Xu to leave. Li Feng instinctively blocked him, but felt a heavy pressure hit him.
Although as a beta he couldn’t detect pheromones, the imperceptible pressure coming towards him still made his hair stand up.
Ji Wang didn’t seem to realize that his pheromones were making the beta turn pale. He said, “Get out of the way.”
Li Feng stepped back with stiff movements and Ji Wang walked away with Xiao Xu, who had covered his nose in advance.
When they arrived at the underground parking garage, Xiao Xu finally took in a deep breath: “I was scared to death, I thought you were going to beat him up.”
Ji Wang glanced at him sideways, “You seem to be looking forward to it?”
Xiao Xu said with a guilty conscience, “How could that be?”
Ji Wang continued his routine of daily instruction, “Li Feng also takes someone’s wages and does things on their behalf. In fact, I shouldn’t have used pheromones to pressure him, but I really don’t want to be pestered by Qi Boyan today.”
Xiao Xu casually said, “Yes yes yes.”
“Why do you feel like you’re being cursory with me?” Ji Wang said.
Xiao Xu accelerated his pace and took a few big steps forward: “Ge, you blushed just now!”
Ji Wang refuted, “I didn’t.”
Xiao Xu shrugged, not arguing with him. He hurried to the side of the car and opened the door to slip in.
Ji Wang helplessly shook his head. He wasn’t like an assistant, he was a younger brother. At this time, he found that the bag in his hand had a small slit opened. He clearly remembered that he’d pulled the bag closed when packing up. Ji Wang cautiously opened the bag to check inside.
Don’t blame him for overthinking. There were too many dirty facts about the entertainment industry.
Sure enough, there was something in the bag, a small velvet box.
It previously appeared on Qi Boyan’s hand, and the ring inside was also worn on his hand while filming.
As for how the ring was in the bag, Ji Wang couldn’t think of anyone other than Li Feng.
At the time it was clear that the beta was bullied by his pheromones. When did he do this? Did Qi Boyan find his assistant in a Secret Service academy?
Xiao Xu lowered the car window and shouted at him, “Ge, let’s go, what are you waiting for?”
Ji Wang closed the zipper and quickly walked to the car. He didn’t intend on returning the ring. This wasn’t sent freely to his door to mess with.
He knew that he failed to live up to his own expectations. He repeatedly failed to remain calm when facing Qi Boyan. The other only had a scar on his hand and he got so frantic he threw his composure out the window. Qi Boyan was right to vow that he wouldn’t be able to forget him.
Since he couldn’t be completely heartless, he could only keep calm and maintain a distance. Ji Wang’s head hurt and he sighed, thinking about how the two would go on the same variety show in the future.
He didn’t know if his ability to appear on this variety show was Qi Boyan’s doing. Qi Boyan’s current attitude seemed like he was dead set on him and wouldn’t accept anyone else.
Leaning against the swaying car window, he suddenly heard the faint sound of raindrops next to his ears. It was raining.
Rainy days always made people unable to avoid reminiscing about the past. Ji Wang remembered his second meeting with Qi Boyan.
It was the same bar and the same arrogant, beautiful boy, standing on the stage and singing himself hoarse. Ji Wang felt his throat hurt on his behalf. He stood under the stage, with many people around him coming for Qi Boyan. They all shouted Qi Boyan’s stage name, “Mortífero! Mortífero! Mortífero!”, a hard to pronounce mouthful of Portuguese.
The meaning was “deadly”. Ji Wang looked at Qi Boyan on the stage from the audience and felt that although this word was difficult to pronounce, it was very suitable for Qi Boyan.
Although he didn’t know why Qi Boyan didn’t use his real name, he felt the name “Qi Boyan” sounded more pleasant and more accurately and truthfully reflected Qi Boyan himself.
This perception was a bit ridiculous. They had only met once and he couldn’t say anything about genuine feelings.
As the pitch of the music slowly climbed higher, Qi Boyan took the microphone off and stood on the edge of the stage, his body on the verge of falling.
He was still singing, his eyes teasingly and provokingly looking below the stage. As the audience rushed to the front of the stage, someone’s hand was about to grab his ankle. Ji Wang inhaled and his heart jumped.
In the next second, Qi Boyan unceremoniously kicked the man’s hand away. Ji Wang heaved a sigh of relief and couldn’t help but worry about Qi Boyan.
This omega shouldn’t play such dangerous games, what if someone really dragged him down.
He looked at the omega dripping with sweat, watching the other’s sweaty skin glisten. He looked at the buttons undone because of the heat. The omega took off his jacket and threw it off the stage, causing everyone to fight.
Ji Wang didn’t try to grab it. His eyes only saw Qi Boyan on the stage.
Because everyone went to snatch the coat, the crowd around Ji Wang thinned out a lot. Everyone was crowded on the other side and Ji Wang was the only one left standing in place, looking conspicuous.
Qi Boyan’s eyes were naturally attracted to the strange difference there. He looked at Ji Wang and subtly raised his eyebrow. The decorations on his eyebrows were sparkling and shining, making Ji Wang feel a little pained.
But mortífero’s attention wouldn’t stay on anyone for long. He only briefly glanced at Ji Wang.
After the song was finished, the person who won Qi Boyan’s coat had already put it on, even though the shoulder’s sleeve was torn.
Ji Wang felt a little uncomfortable when he saw the man obsessively kissing Qi Boyan’s sleeve.
He left the lively crowd and went backstage. Before going to find Qi Boyan, he’d sweated a lot, and his pheromones were somewhat overflowing.
Ji Wang planned to rinse off, so as to not offend the omega.
There were people coming and going backstage and the band performing the next set was about to take the stage. Ji Wang saw the bathroom sign and walked towards it, against the flow of people.
When he pushed open the door to the bathroom, Ji Wang didn’t feel the slight pressure against his hand. He pushed it hard and there was a crisp sound, the sound of metal hitting the wall.
Leaning against the wall of the bathroom was the person Ji Wang wanted to see, Qi Boyan.
And pressing down on him was a beta, putting his hand on Qi Boyan’s waistband.
It was like Ji Wang felt a nerve snap. When he reacted, he’d already roughly pushed the beta against the wall, clasped the opponent’s hands, and fiercely said, “What do you want to do to him?”
He’d seen the frenzy of those mortífero fans just now with his own eyes.
The beta screamed and struggled because of the pain. His handsome face contorted and he shouted at Ji Wang, “Who the fuck are you! We’re both consenting!”
Ji Wang was stunned. He turned to Qi Boyan and looked for the answer with his eyes.
Although he didn’t get Qi Boyan’s answer, Ji Wang’s neck was flushed with embarrassment.
In his mind, Ji Wang remembered Ren Ran’s evaluation of Qi Boyan. He was promiscuous by nature.
Maybe he had really misunderstood. The strength in his grip loosened a little.
At this time, a hand touched his wrist, and a faint and ambiguous omega scent floated over. Qi Boyan slightly turned his cheek, looked at him gently, and gave Ji Wang the answer he wanted, “He lied, I don’t know him.”
After he finished speaking, Qi Boyan smiled. His smile muddled Ji Wang’s head and he couldn’t care about anything else.
At that time, he didn’t know that Qi Boyan’s smile was full of delight from getting away with a prank.
