Mr. President Do You Mind If I Fall In Love With You? - Chapter 19
Joanna was already at her limit. She was at loss on what should she do to her niece. It had been three days since Amber met Luna Jiang. When the girl woke up not finding the woman she just met, she would throw a fit, making it hard for Joanna and the nurses to calm her down.
Amber refused to eat her meals and had been crying since then. The past three days were hell for Joanna and her niece. Taking a chance to find Luna’s whereabouts, she even asked the hospital’s receptionist for details. She met Luna’s mother and her brother, and yet she still failed to see even a glimpse of that woman.
It was weird and unusual for Amber to ask for something she wanted. Everything that she needed fell automatically on her ŀȧp; and everyone around her spoiled her, afraid that making her mad would also offend her infamous father.
“Amber, I’m sorry I couldn’t find Miss Luna,” Joanna said. She slumped on her seat and rubbed her face with both of her hands in frustration. Why was it so hard for her to make Amber happy? She didn’t understand what Amber saw in Luna Jiang and why she wanted to see her.
Amber’s lips thinned when she heard what her aunt said. She sniffed, wiped away her tears, and sulked on the corner of her bed. All she wanted right now was to see Miss Luna. Why did she leave without saying goodbye to her? Did she also think Amber was a naughty child?
The little girl was oblivious to her aunt’s frustration. Seeing Amber’s depressed state, Joanna couldn’t take it anymore. She jolted up from her seat. She needed to find Luna Jiang as soon as possible, or else Amber would surely drive her crazy!
Joanna left Amber with a personal nurse to accompany her niece and went outside the room. She pulled out her phone from her side pocket and dialed her brother’s number. After a few rings, the call connected to him.
“I swear your daughter is trying to drive me insane,” she hissed on her phone as she looked around.
“What happened now?” She could hear the irritation in her brother’s voice. Why was it so hard for him to make time for Amber? For fuċk’s sake, the child needed a father while growing up, and yet Hero decided to pass his obligations to her and to their other siblings.
“I’ll tell you what happened because you never bothered to check up on your daughter these past years. I can never understand you, Hero.”
“Do you call me just to scold me about my parenting skills?”
Joanna gritted her teeth. She was so tempted to throw her phone to the nearest wall. Both the father and the daughter were infuriating as hell. Now, she knew where did Amber inherit her demanding attitude. She was really Hero Li’s only daughter.
“No, but Amber wants me to find someone she just met recently. Can you believe it? Your daughter wants to see her again, and she’s throwing a tantrum these days because we couldn’t find her new favorite person in the whole world,” she explained.
Hero stopped writing when he heard what Joanna said. Amber like to meet someone? That’s new. Amber probably met someone interesting just like him.
“I’m pretty sure you can find her easily, ȧssuming that Amber met her there in the hospital.”
“Hmm … yeah, I actually found a lead, but the mother of that woman said her daughter is busy with her work so she couldn’t pay a visit.”
“So what do you plan to do next?”
Hero encircled a mistake he saw on the report he was reading and thought how his employees should pay attention to small details like this.
“I really don’t know. Amber’s health is improving, but ever since she refused to cooperate with us, her improvement also stopped.” Joanna rubbed her temple and leaned on the wall. She desperately needed a break from all of these.
“Or you can just ask her mother for her contact details?” Hero suggested.
Joanna slapped her forehead. Why didn’t she think of that earlier? She would be saved from torments and Amber’s tantrums if she had asked for Luna’s number.
“You know what? I’m glad I gave you a call, but Hero, I swear if you don’t drag your ȧss away from work and visit your own daughter, I will kill you.”
