Mr. President Do You Mind If I Fall In Love With You? - Chapter 21
The next days passed Luna by in a blur. She had to make a schedule and get used to the routine. Starting her day with a walk in the park with Fluffy, she made a mental note to visit her mother and Amber after working hours. Her busy schedule was also noticed by her friend, Corinne.
“Luna, are you sure you’re okay?” Corinne left another stack of files on Luna’s desk.
“What do you mean?” She didn’t look like she’s sick, right?
“Well, you look paler than usual.” Corinne paused, “And you started taking naps in the afternoon, which you never did before.” She pointed out.
Luna laughed at her friend while her fingers continued to fly above the keyboard of her ŀȧptop.
“I just need a break, Corinne. Don’t worry too much about me. You’re being a mother hen again.”
“Hey, I’m just worried about you. You haven’t really talked about what happened to you last week so I got worried.”
Sensing the concern in Corinne’s voice, Luna stopped working and turned her chair to face her friend.
“Really. I’m fine. I know you’re concerned, but try not to overthink, okay? I will come to you if ever I need some help.”
“If you say so, but Luna, promise me you won’t push yourself too hard. I don’t want you to bury yourself in work just to forget some things, okay?” Corinne smiled before tapping Luna’s shoulder.
Luna returned her smiled and nodded. She was glad that there’s still someone out there who had a genuine concern for her. Smiling to herself, she went back to her work, eager to finish it so she could leave early.
Unbeknownst to her, a pair of eyes was watching her every move. His eyes silently appreciated the smoothness of her skin, the way her hair bounced with her every move, and how she beamed a smile to her co-workers. Hero wondered if there would be a day Luna would smile at him like that.
He couldn’t believe that there’s a woman that could outright reject him. It took a lot of patience for him to rebuild their company, and Hero had that kind of patience. He took quiet satisfaction in knowing he would receive the utmost outcome of what he’s planning if he was patient enough to work on it.
He’d learned a long time ago that patience was a virtue. Something that nearly everyone didn’t possess. Not that he minded that lack in others as long as it wouldn’t affect him negatively. It gave him a distinct advantage over everyone.
But in the matter of Luna Jiang, he didn’t know if he had enough patience to wait for her. Hero allowed himself a small smile as he contemplated the image of Luna in his welcoming arms. He wanted her, and she would be his.
When he had first seen her that morning, sleeping beside him in his hotel room, it had been like discovering something he’d never encountered before. She might have made a mistake of seducing him in his own bed, but that didn’t change his impression about her. She was unlike any other woman he had ever met, and Hero promised to himself that he would find a way to get her.
Hero had decided that maybe it was time for him to get a new wife. He thought Luna would suit him perfectly, regardless of what family she came from. That Jasper Mu had already lost his chance to claim her for himself when he failed to put a ring on her finger.
Luna Jiang was unquestionably unique, and that did not surprise Hero at all. After all that happened between them, she refused him. Her determination to protect her relationship with Jasper Mu was almost outstanding. Her loyalty was one of her stronger traits that attracted him. A trait that Hero also required in his future wife.
There’s also a strong and undeniable physical attraction between him and Luna. He knew, of course, that the last time they spoke, she was pulling the reins of her self-control in front of him. Hero had felt something deep inside himself responded to Luna, which he didn’t have with his deceased wife.
It was not that Luna Jiang possessed a spectacular beauty; rather, it was the opposite. She had a subtle charisma that called out to him; her haunting allure fascinated him that it almost kept him awake late at night.
She was an intriguing woman. The intelligence in her gaze was unmistakable. Hero admitted only to himself that he wanted her, that the demon president was enamored by Luna Jiang.
