Mr. President Do You Mind If I Fall In Love With You? - Chapter 27
Another two weeks passed by in a blur. Luna had already moved in Corinne’s place and stayed in the vacant room next to her godchild. The three-year-old little Mia had been her stress reliever for the past days; but still, she found herself exhausted and sleepy at any time of the day. She was deeply impressed by Corinne’s diligence for supporting her daughter alone.
Luna was so busy that she also had forgotten about Jasper and Aiko and didn’t bother to check her email if they sent one.
“Luna, do you mind if I ask for some help? Could you please collect the contracts and proposals from the HR department? Mr. Jin said he needs it this afternoon, but I haven’t finished with my reports yet.” Corrine asked as she placed a cup of coffee on Luna’s desk.
“Sure, no problem. I’m almost done with mine.”
“Thanks, Luna. You’re the best.” Corinne grinned and patted Luna’s back before going back to her cubicle.
Luna finished her daily report and delivered it to their team leader. She wondered if she could take another overtime today. Raising funds so she could move to her own place sure was hard. While staying at Corinne’s place, the only expense she had to deal with were her own food and basic needs. Still, she felt ashamed for not giving anything to share with her friend.
Taking her time to walk towards the HR department, Luna took her phone and checked her recent messages. There was that same unknown phone number calling her again. She wondered if it was Jasper. Still, she refused to pick up the call. Maybe it was time for her to also get a new phone because whoever it was, he was persistent and had been calling on a specific time.
Luna was oblivious of the pair of eyes watching her, stalking her on the hallway. Wherever Luna went, the little figure followed her. It wasn’t until someone shouted behind her that Luna turned around to see what was happening.
“There she is!”
“Quick! Take the little miss before the boss finds out she’s missing.”
“Amber.”
Amber’s eyes widened in delight. She was really happy that her Aunty Luna hadn’t forgotten about her.
“What are you doing here?”
But before Amber could do anything, a female security officer took Amber’s hand and pulled her away from Luna.
“Little Miss, you have to go back. President Li would be mad if he found out you ran away again.”
Amber pulled on her hand from the woman’s grip and wailed in pain. Thinking that she had hurt the child, the woman released Amber’s hand. The color of her face turned pale as Amber continued to cry in pain. Her other comrades came behind her, with a worried look on their faces.
It was a silent rule that no one shall make Little Amber cry, and yet, the female personnel had done it. She looked back at her comrades, her eyes begging for help, but they also had no idea what to do with the crying Amber.
In their surprise, Luna knelt down in front of the child and took Amber’s hand with hers.
“It’s okay, Amber. It’s okay. Does it still hurt? Can you tell me where it hurts?”
Amber sniffed and wiped her tears with the back of her hand. Instead of answering Luna’s question, she wrapped her small arms around Luna’s neck just like what she did the first time they met.
As Luna tried to console the little girl, Hero stared down from where he was hiding, watching his woman and his daughter in the lobby.
She thought she could just avoid him like that? Well, too bad for her, he was able to convince Amber to see Luna. It was the first time since forever that his daughter agreed on something he’d requested.
Amber’s face was full of doubt when he asked her if she wanted to see Luna Jiang.
“I’ll take you to your Aunty Luna, but you must help me.”
Making a deal with his young daughter was surely a big advantage to him, and he wouldn’t waste such an opportunity.
