Mr. President Do You Mind If I Fall In Love With You? - Chapter 44
In the end, Luna chose to wait for her husband in their living area, reading the emails she hadn’t checked for days. There were several emails she received from her colleagues, but none of them were from Jasper.
Did he really leave to pursue Aiko and grant his family’s wishes? If she shared the same status as Sienna, would his family change their mind and accept her?
Luna shook her head. This was no time to muse the what-ifs. Her reality was far from what she had in mind. Now, she was someone else’s wife, bearing the child from that fateful night she shared with Hero Li. Whatever Jasper did with Aiko, she had nothing to do with it.
Still, why did she feel pain in her ċhėst? Why were her eyes pricked with tears as she thought how badly she lost to Aiko? If it wasn’t for Aiko, she wouldn’t end up in Hero’s room, losing her vɨrġɨnɨtƴ to another man that wasn’t her boyfriend.
She leaned her back, eyes fixated at the expensive chandelier in the room she was. The Luna from the past, where she could rely on Jasper, was gone. The last time she saw him, a conflicted expression was on his face that she couldn’t forget. She’d asked what was wrong, and he only brushed her question, claiming everything was fine. She had no idea where he was and Aiko, but she shouldn’t care.
Because right now, she was Hero Li’s wife and a pregnant one at that. Even if she didn’t love him, maybe… just maybe, they could build their relationship as husband and wife with respect and trust.
Lying on the couch, she wondered if she’d done the right thing. If her suspicion was correct, Sienna had something to do with Julian’s accident.
Thinking about it, that woman was only after her and Julian’s rightful inheritance that the Jiang family left for them. If she’d agreed and signed away her rights, would her brother be safe by now? Would that also mean she wouldn’t get forced to marry Hero Li to save him?
Luna closed her eyes. The bitterness in her heart hadn’t lessened. From being set up by her friend, Julian’s accident, and Jasper’s sudden departure with Aiko; she suddenly found herself in a whirlwind of fate. It was muddle-headed hypocrisy if someone told her now that all was just a coincidence.
When Hero came back home, he was surprised to find his new wife sleeping on the couch. What was wrong with this woman? He already told her that she could do anything as she pleased with their new home, and yet she still chose to sleep on the couch? Weird woman. He married a weird woman.
She was still wearing the same shirt and pants she had when they arrived. Her white smooth feet were resting over the armrest.
Hero raised a brow before shaking his head. He silently strode towards her and lifted her carefully not to wake her up but failed.
As if sensing someone was holding her, Luna stirred in Hero’s arms and sluggishly woke up. It took her some time to register than someone was indeed holding her. Jolting her from the shock, she almost hit Hero’s face with her head.
“Careful, or else we’ll fall together,” his masculine, stern voice warned her. It sounded familiar, but Luna couldn’t remember who it was.
Luna blinked twice before realizing he was taking her upstairs in slow motion, making sure he wouldn’t miss a single step. It was only then she remembered that she was pregnant with his child so he had to be extra careful.
Unconsciously, Luna wrapped her arms around his shoulder to steady herself. Hero felt her ċhėst pressed against him but didn’t utter a word. Only when Luna’s cheeks blushed profusely and realized what she had done did he chuckle.
“What’s wrong? We’re already husband and wife, and we’ve consummated our marriage. You’re still shy?” he inquired, his eyes smiling at her with amusement.
“This shouldn’t happen again, alright? You shouldn’t forget that you’re pregnant. What if you catch a cold? You don’t have to wait for me to come home next time,” he chided her.
Luna wanted to argue that she wasn’t waiting for him. She was only resting for a while but ended up sleeping on the couch when he found her.
“Alright,” she conceded easily. It was already late, and it’s useless to argue with him at this ungodly hour.
She didn’t think she could act leisurely when Hero was around. Luna still didn’t know why Hero married her. In fact, he needed not to marry her for the sake of their child. He could fight with her for custody in court, but he didn’t. Instead, he married her and gave her a proper title as his wife.
This home… this villa that Hero called their home was located in a rich, executive village in the far eastern part of the city. The ambiance was good, with fresh air and beautiful scenery.
This man… this husband of hers, Luna didn’t dare to ȧssume that he liked her. In fact, aside from Jasper, she never dated anyone.
Her husband had an aquiline nose, dashing eyebrows, and deep eyes. He had thin lips and skin so fair that other women would be jealous of, but what Luna saw was a man so cold and eccentric that made her flinched unconsciously.
Hero Li. Of course, everyone within the city knew that name. He was kind of a legend in the business world, saving his family from bankruptcy.
What about her? She was just a daughter from a mistress of a wealthy businessman. Wasn’t Hero afraid to receive a scornful look and opinion of the public by marrying someone like her?
“We’re here,” Hero said as he brought her down, breaking her trance.
When Hero stopped his steps, Luna found herself outside of Amber’s bedroom. Why did he bring her here?
