Mr. President Do You Mind If I Fall In Love With You? - Chapter 46
Although Luna slept past midnight last night, her body clock stilled followed her daily routine and woke up at exactly 6 AM. She forced herself out of the bed, took shower, and changed into a new set of clean clothes before going downstairs to prepare breakfast for her husband and Little Amber.
However, Madam Lin had begun to prepare and serve breakfast. Luna ran to the sink in a hurry to wash her hands clean so she could ȧssist Madam Lin in the kitchen.
Madam Lin gasped as she saw Luna starting to peel and cut the vegetables she left on the kitchen counter.
“Miss Luna, you don’t need to do this. Leave it to me,” she said in a panic. She was afraid that Hero would reprimand her seriously if he found out that she was letting his new wife cook. However, she couldn’t help but also admire Luna Jiang for her humility. She wasn’t like those women who tried to seduce their master in public.
“It’s okay, Madam Lin. Don’t worry about me. I’ve been doing this for a long time. I wouldn’t cut or hurt myself.” Luna smiled at the older woman.
“Let her be, Madam Lin. As long as my wife wants it, you should listen to her.” Hero’s voice took both women’s attention, and they looked at his direction after.
Hero Li was standing in the doorway with Little Amber in his arms. Luna noticed the redness on the little girl’s eyes and knew then that she’d been crying.
“Is everything alright?” She brought down the peeling knife from her hand and washed her hands at the sink again before wiping it dry.
“She woke up alone and thought you’ve left her again,” her husband replied as Luna strode towards them and wiped the tears from Little Amber’s cheeks.
“Darling, I’m so sorry. Were you afraid?” she whispered to the little girl who was still sobbing.
Little Amber shook her head and extended both of her arms towards Luna, hoping her new Mommy wouldn’t deny her again. Hero passed his daughter to Luna easily and moved to pull a chair in the dining area while waiting for the dishes to be served.
Luna sat across him with Little Amber on her ŀȧp. She reassured the girl that she wouldn’t leave without a word again and explained that her room was just across hers so Little Amber should be able to find her easily.
Little Amber ceased her tears and sat next to her new Mommy, eating everything Luna put on her plate in silence. Hero watched the two women in his life interact and was relieved that his wife was able to stop Amber from throwing another fit.
“Why don’t you resign from work and stay here at home with Amber? You should pay attention more to your health now,” Hero asked his wife as he busied himself with his breakfast.
They hadn’t discussed it, and Luna was thankful that Hero brought it up.
“I was about to ask you about that. There were still reports and projects I have yet to finish and would like to finish before I resign,” Luna said nervously. She wasn’t sure if her husband would agree, but she couldn’t leave and let Corrine take over the huge workload she left at the office.
“Alright. I’ll allow you to work for a month but see to it that you wouldn’t meet clients outside the working hours. I don’t want to see or hear my wife being spotted at places not suited for her status.
“Okay.” Luna agreed with him and didn’t dare to argue. Hero simply meant that she could not hang out and drink with her workmates or friends for the sake of her baby.
“By the way, I heard Jasper Mo and Aiko Chen came back from their overseas trip last night. His family invited me to a party. Do you want to take a guess what kind of party they’re throwing?” Hero asked amusedly, his eyes flashing that same menacing look Luna seen on him.
Luna shook her head, but deep in her heart, she knew what it was. She shut her eyes and took calming breaths. She couldn’t understand why Hero had to mention it to her. Jasper was just a part of her past, and there would be no way or a chance for them to be together again.
Little Amber glared at her father upon noticing her Mommy Luna’s crestfallen face. Why was he bullying her Mommy?
Hero ignored his daughter and chuckled to his wife’s reaction. She must be trying hard to pretend that she didn’t care, but her face betrayed her.
“Why, of course, it’s Jasper Mo’s birthday party. As his ex-girlfriend, you should know better than I do, no? But since the Mo family have the guts to invite the Li family, Madam Li has no right to decline this invitation.”
The sinister smile on her husband’s face made her frown. She suddenly felt that this man… her husband was trying to bully her.
“Hero, I thought we agreed we wouldn’t disclose our marriage unless it’s needed,” she mumbled.
“We did.” Hero nodded and took a sip from his hot drink. “But I don’t like it when my wife brood because of another man. You have to face them eventually. Why don’t you make a clean cut tomorrow and forget Jasper Mo for good?”
Luna was silent for a moment. What Hero said made sense. It would be best if she could put whatever was between her and Jasper to an end. There would be no difference anyway if she met him now or later. She could only hope that Jasper would leave her alone and let her live in peace.
“Alright, I’ll go with you.” She decided. It would be better if she could throw everything in the past so she could move forward with her new life as Hero’s wife.
“Great.” Hero was pleased with his wife’s answer. “I’ll ask Daryl to make preparations then.”
