“Why are you still awake? Shouldn’t you be sleeping at this time?” Luna reached down and picked Little Amber up from the ground.

Little Amber waved her hand at her nanny to hand over her small board and pen so she could talk to her mommy.

Luna strode towards the living area, with her husband following her closely. She sat on the couch with Little Amber sitting on her ŀȧp while Hero removed his outer coat and called Madam Lin from the kitchen.

“Prepare dinner for us. Luna hasn’t eaten anything for dinner yet,” he said before sitting across his wife and daughter.

Little Amber scribbled on her whiteboard and showed it to Luna.

‘Because Mommy isn’t home yet. I’m worried.’ She was upset that her Mommy wasn’t there to give her a bath and tuck her to bed like she used to.

Hero took a peek on what was written on the board and chuckled.

“I’m with your Mommy. How come you’re only worried about her but not about Daddy?” he asked amusedly.

Little Amber threw a glare toward him, her face scrunched up a little before scribbling another response on her board.

‘Because it was Daddy who’s taken her away!’

Wasn’t it because her Daddy always tries to take her Mommy’s attention away from her that Little Amber had to wait until past her bedtime to make sure he’d bring her back home?

Hero laughed when she lifted her board for him to see. His daughter really adored his new wife than him. If he hadn’t met Luna months ago and hadn’t seen Little Amber born by his deceased wife, he would’ve thought the girl came out from Luna’s wȯmb… which was impossible.

“Little Amber is not little anymore. With your Mommy being pregnant, you’re not allowed to be lifted by Mommy anymore. You’ll hurt Mommy and the baby if you insist,” he said.

It was Luna’s turn to frown this time. Why was her husband treating Little Amber like this?

Don’t know if it was because his wife had died, leaving him helpless how to raise the child alone; but as Luna saw it, Hero loved his daughter. However, he didn’t know how to become a good father to Little Amber.

‘What BABY?’

“Baby? As in our little baby. Mommy has a small baby inside her stomach. As the days pass, her tummy will grow as well as the baby. Months later, you’ll see your baby brother or a sister. Don’t you like it? You wouldn’t be alone anymore,” Hero replied nonchalantly.

Little Amber burst into tears. What did he mean that she wasn’t allowed to be held by her mommy? A new baby? She didn’t want a new baby! She didn’t want to share her Mommy Luna to anyone!

‘Don’t like!’

Absolutely cold-hearted like his father. Just like Hero—when Little Amber decided on something, it would be hard for anyone to change her mind. Now that she said that she disliked her new sibling, Hero and Luna would have a hard time convincing her that she wouldn’t be forgotten when the baby arrived.

Competing with her father for her Mommy’s attention was already hard enough, what more if there’s another baby in the picture? Little Amber didn’t want any of it.

“Hero, can you not make Little Amber cry? She’s just a child. You don’t need to tease her like this.” Luna chastised her, but Hero only shrugged.

However, Luna persisted.

“You’re being harsh on her. Of course, she wouldn’t understand. All her life, you pampered her, given her everything she wanted. Amber probably didn’t know how to share things with other people.”

“Don’t get fooled by her charm, Luna. Spoiling her a little isn’t a bad thing at all, but I cannot allow her to throw tantrums and get used to her bad habits. Not everything she wanted should be given. Neither of us planned this child, but since you are already pregnant, we just need to compromise.”

What he said was true. He’d never expected that he’d hit the lottery with Luna Jiang in a single night.

Raising Little Amber alone was already hard for his. With his busy schedule at work, he bȧrėly had time to look after her. It was a good thing that his sister, Joanna, was always there to help him with Amber; however, the child was too much for Joanna to handle.

Their conversation came into an end when Madam Lin informed them that the dinner was ready. The three went to the dining room, and Hero pulled out a chair for his wife before taking the seat next to her while Amber was placed on the other chair next to Luna.

As soon as Luna saw the dishes on the table, she picked up her chopsticks and started eating. She suddenly felt very hungry at that moment, forgetting the long day she had earlier. She was also aware that her pregnancy was also starting to affect her mood and appetite.

When she was at the birthday banquet, she didn’t feel like eating anything. Now that she was in the comfort of their home, her appetite surged. She ate heartily, not paying attention to how her husband watched her as she ate.

Hero placed a spare rib on her plate and added a few more dishes in it.

Since Little Amber already had her dinner, she didn’t need to eat anymore. She sat there with a sad face as she thought that the new baby would make her Mommy forget about her.

She scribbled continuously on her whiteboard.

‘I hate you.’

‘You put a baby on my Mommy’s tummy. I hate you.’

Hero didn’t say anything and let his daughter complain and let out her frustrations. She’d have to suck it up and accept the reality anyway.

“Are you done?” he asked when Little Amber place her whiteboard on the table and crossed her arms over her ċhėst.

Luna eyed the father and daughter tandem and decided to give a talk with the girl. She wiped her lips with a clean napkin and drank water.

“Amber, I know you don’t want to accept it, but do you want Mommy to get hurt? Mommy loves the baby. If you hurt the baby, I’ll also be hurt and sad. Do you want that?” Luna told her.

The girl shook her head but still saddened by the news of the new baby. How could she accept this?

‘I don’t like the baby!’ she admitted to Luna.

Luna was saddened by her words but understood that it wouldn’t be easy for the little girl to accept it.
