My Beautiful Love - Chapter 608
She had not even settled down at home when her phone rang. The caller was Lin Lihua and if anyone were to ask, she wasn’t happy about it.
But she couldn’t possibly reject her boss’ call, could she?
Lin Lihua sounded very troubled. “Xuanxuan, I have something really urgent to do and Lin Ye is on his own. Could you check on him?”
Just when Yun Xuan was about to say no, Lin Lihua continued. “He can’t eat on his own. If no one takes care of him, I’m afraid he will starve to death.”
Yun Xuan didn’t waver so easily. “Aren’t there nurses in the hospital? Why should I feed him?”
Lin Lihua hadn’t thought about this and was caught off guard.
“Well… Xuanxuan, he won’t let people he is not familiar with get within two meters of his radius. He’s blind and must be scared, you know…that someone might hurt him.” She made up the closest nonsense she could come up with.
Yun Xuan gripped her phone tightly. “Blind?”
Now that piece of cloth made sense…
Wait, that wasn’t the main point. “Even if that’s the case, it doesn’t mean I’m the right person to take care of him. Earlier he…”
“Ah, Xuanxuan, I have to go now. I count on you!” Lin Lihua hung up without giving her a chance to say no.
Yun Xuan truly didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. What was Lin Lihua playing at?
Never mind. She would simply go over. If that weirdly temperamental guy flared up on her again, she would never set foot anywhere close to him.
…
Just like that, she made her way back to the hospital and into the very ward she had been sent away earlier.
She walked in cautiously and stood at the door, wondering whether she should just remain silent and feed him anonymously. If he lost his temper again…
“Yun Xuan.” The man called out, his back turned towards the door again.
His voice startled her. How exactly did he know that it was her? She had not made a single peep and neither had the little boy in her arms.
Although the woman didn’t respond, Lin Ye knew that it was her. Her scent was one of a kind and he had liked it for ages. How could he not recognize it?
Like he did earlier, he swung to face her. Of course, he couldn’t see. He could only guess that she could now see his face clearly.
Yun Xuan couldn’t bear to see him struggle to do such a basic thing. She carefully put the boy on the sofa and stuffed a robot figurine into his hands.
She then took the food flask she had brought before she was kicked out. It was only an hour ago, the food should still taste fresh.
She served some of the food onto a bowl she had prepared earlier. “I only came to feed you. Lihua said you couldn’t do it on your own.”
Lin Ye remained silent, rendering her helpless. Should she proceed… or would he detonate?
The man took in a deep breath as the alluring aroma wafted into his nose. He had never had a taste of Yun Xuan’s cooking but his intuition made him believe she had cooked this for him.
Seconds later, he heard faint footsteps as the woman got closer to him.
“I’m sorry about earlier.”
“Uh?” Yun Xuan didn’t expect the sudden apology and was taken aback.
“I was quite upset and treated you rudely. I’m sorry… please don’t be mad at me?”
“Um…” Yun Xuan didn’t know how to react. She was undeniably angry. But seeing him apologize – paired with the fact that his emotions were still unstable – the anger evaporated in a puff. “I will not be mad this time.”
“Mmh. No next time.”
The man’s lips curled slightly, pleasantly surprised that Yun Xuan didn’t hold it against him. Lin Lihua was right – she didn’t look down on him like he had expected. If she did, she wouldn’t be here right now.
Yun Xuan scooped congee on a spoon and brought it near his mouth, feeling awkward that she was feeding a grown man. “Eat.”
A scarlet color crept onto Lin Ye’s ears and he felt his face burn up as he opened his mouth to receive the contents of Yun Xuan’s spoon.
“Uwaaa…” A sniffle of displeasure cut into the awkward atmosphere.
Yun Xuan glanced at her son. He had put the robot figurine aside and was reaching his tiny arms towards her. Drops of tears glistened at the corner of his eyes.
Why is mommy feeding other people?!
Yun Xuan chuckled. Was there anyone more jealous than her son?
Lin Ye wasn’t surprised that there was a little boy in the room. He had heard him blabber while playing.
Yun Xuan didn’t pay much heed to her fitful little devil and proceeded to feed Lin Ye another spoonful.
At that moment, the robot figurine was sent flying across the room making Yun Xuan glare at the little devil – he would always throw things around when he was displeased.
She tried to remain calm and not scare him. Putting the bowl aside, she stood up and took the toy from the floor, keeping it away from him.
Her action earned a scream from him, which she ignored completely. He should learn that throwing things around was wrong. If he was a little stronger, that toy robot would have hit someone or destroyed something.
Lin Ye chuckled under his breath. He could not watch what was happening but he could hear it. “It must be hard on you.”
Yun Xuan sat back down to continue feeding him. “Not exactly. He’s just a little naughtier than other kids.”
Of course, he was throwing a tantrum now because he didn’t like Lin Ye. She understood this, but perhaps it was the right time to teach him to keep a good relationship with everyone.
…
Lin Ye had been asleep for quite a long time so he didn’t eat much – his stomach was not used to it. He was full after a few spoonfuls.
By this time, the little devil had cried himself to sleep.
“I will go home now.”
“Xuanxuan…”
