My Beautiful Love - Chapter 638
“I switched it off for you.” Yun Xuan clenched her lips. That wasn’t the main point, okay?
She originally wanted to let it go since he wasn’t willing to tell her anything but knowing that every little thing mattered in a relationship and that the slightest misunderstanding could evolve into a million more misunderstandings and cause a break up, she asked in the end.
“Can you see?”
“No.” His answer wasn’t hesitant.
“Then what’s with the design draft?”
“Oh that.” Lin Ye looked like he had just remembered something. “I forgot to mention it.”
“Xuanxuan, do you know that it’s possible to verbally describe a design? As long as the description is as precise as possible, someone else can draw the design draft you want.”
“What’s your point?” Yun Xuan obviously didn’t believe him.
“It’s just like how clothes are described in novels. You can picture them in your mind, right? It’s also just like how someone can describe the features of a criminal and then someone else will draw them according to the description.
You can also do that for drafts, and as long as the other party is talented and the description is clear enough, the end result will be satisfactory even if it’s not 100% identical to what I would have drawn myself.”
He paused and continued, “When my boss was still expectant, she actually used that method a few times when she was too tired to draw.”
Yun Xuan’s face cringed. “Are you trying to say that Wanwan drew it for you?”
“That was an option too. However, the difference this time is that I wouldn’t be able to see what she has drawn and the end result wouldn’t truly belong to me. So my boss installed a software in my ŀȧptop. It must have been made specifically for me by President Lu. I simply have to use my brain and my voice.
When I’m done, I will send the drafts to my boss and she can do the final polishing.”
Of course she knew how difficult it was to describe a criminal in detail. It wasn’t a feat everyone could accomplish.
Not to mention, this was on a whole different level. He was describing something he had in his mind purely from imagination and that too, to a lifeless machine. He wouldn’t even have the chance to check whether it made any sense. It would require a hectic level of concentration.
For a moment, she resented Wan Jia for making him do this.
“Then why don’t you let me check your completed drafts? I can polish them for you.”
“You can?” Lin Ye obviously didn’t expect her to make such a proposal.
“Why not? Are you doubting my talent?”
Now that she mentioned it, she could really do that.
In YX Brand, although her job was not being a designer, she would sometimes make the rookies’ designs better using their own foundation and her ideas. It was always satisfactory when she did it.
“That’s great. Then I will not have to bother my boss to correct my mistakes and make sense out of my nonsense. She spent hours trying to talk me out of this; saying I should spend my time resting and whatnot. She nagged me to not overwork myself before she finally sent me the software.”
Yun Xuan blinked. It wasn’t Wan Jia who was forcing him to work despite his condition but him, who didn’t want to stay idly at home?
She was relieved. “That’s great. Then when do we start working, designer Lin?”
“How about right now, partner?”
Yun Xuan caught the double meaning of the word partner and revealed a slight smile. He meant work partner as well as life partner.
….
So Yun Xuan’s role evolved from merely taking taking care of him to spending time with him and now, to working with him.
She had expected it to be harder than he had made it sound but unexpectedly, it was easier than it sounded.
All Lin Ye would do was describe what he had in mind and Yun Xuan would sit beside him, her eyebrows lifting from time to time because the image slowly forming on the screen made so much sense that if she was not watching it happen, she would think she was being deceived.
Lin Ye’s brilliance paid a great role in making it easy, of course.
She rarely ever had anything to correct and if she did, it would be because of small misplaced details and mistakes such as the waistline looking too tight or too lose, the sleeves being too long or too short; or the skirt having an awkward length. Of course if there was anything she could add or subtract to make it better, she had the liberty to do so.
She had to select the color or patterns if needed and when she was done, it did look at least 80% like Lin Ye’s style of design.
The only downside was that it took longer to design one complete outfit than it would take him to doodle a whole series before his accident.
But who cared about that?
As long he had something to do and it was constructive, keeping him away from all the boredom and making him look forward to seeing.
In his perspective, it didn’t matter if he was slow. He was being deliberately slow to start with. All he needed was something that would make her spend a little more time with him and he had got one.
At the end of the week, Yun Xuan glanced through their week’s worth of work and she smiled in satisfaction.
“I’m currently in charge of the styles of two artists from HL Entertainment. If it’s possible, I would like to give two of these dresses to them for an upcoming event.”
“Of course. We did it for fun anyway. You can use them as you please.” He had no objections.
“Of course not!” Yun Xuan admonished. “You have an ongoing contract with MAX Brand and although Wanwan didn’t say you couldn’t do private designs, it’s still only fair that these belong to the company. I’ll later use the name of HL Entertainment to buy then from MAX.
Lin Ye: “As you wish.”
Yun Xuan: “…” Why do you sound like a hen pecked husband?
