My Career is Useless in this World!! - Chapter 203
Episode 196- Sub-organization that belongs to Exitium
Riel shut his mouth that was going to ask for information and replied to her, “After the second day, many men visited the group and stayed with them for a while. Their last appearance was last evening. Other than that…” He thought for a second before continuing.
“As Lady says, the children’s reaction is weird. Two days ago, a town’s person went up to the children to talk to them but the children never once reacted or replied to the town’s person. The man who brought the children and took care of the children seemed pretty angry that the town’s person was talking to the children, however, he did not express his dislike nor asked for the town’s person to keep his distance.” He was about to stop but remembered that Eugene had asked him two questions and continued,
“It took the group to reach here from Lelips roughly 2 weeks. To head to Lelips, it would take them 2 weeks as well.”
Eugene nodded slowly, ‘Which means I have 2 weeks to get Euria back. And as for the rest of the information… That seems about right.’ The men who didn’t reappear had exploded and died.
“Oh!” Riel suddenly exclaimed, “There was another man with a group of children who met up with the man who came two weeks ago. That man is reportedly one of the criminals that have been running rampant in the United West Liasel.”
Eugene’s eyes narrowed, “Criminal?”
“Yes.” Riel nodded, “They are a group of bandits that had been running wild in United West Liasel forever. They were caught 5 years ago with a tip from an anonymous person, however, they have recently broken out of prison in Lelips.”
Eugene’s eyes shook a little from the information, “You mean… the bandits and the man who came two weeks ago might be allies?”
Riel was hesitant but nodded, “It’s a possibility.”
Eugene straightened her back and with a completely serious voice, she asked, “What is the name of the group of criminals?”
The room was silent. The silence was because Riel didn’t know whether he should be giving more information. In that silence, a small tik could be heard and immediately Riel responded, “Bats.”
Eugene’s heart skipped a beat the moment the word ‘Bats’ left Riel’s mouth. At first, she wasn’t sure if she should make a connection between Exitium and the bandits, however the moment she heard the bandit’s name, the connection was made instantaneously.
It was most likely that ‘Bats’ was a sub-organization that belonged to Exitum. A financial organization that provided money for Exitium in United West Liasel!
The reason why she was sure about this was because of Ron. Ron said that he found a cave filled with gold with bat carvings. Noelle also reported that a man had met up with Darius which means the information Riel gave her, and the information she had matched perfectly.
“The man with the children who disappeared, and the bandit who came with the group of children are in an organization called Exitium,” Eugene said suddenly. This was the information she was going to give the guild in return for the information she got.
Riel furrowed his eyebrows. He did not expect Eugene to know the name of the group. But the name alone was incredibly high-priced information because even they weren’t able to find the group’s name or let alone which continent they came from even though they arrived in Lelips via harbor.
“How do we know that the information Lady gave us is real?” For all he knows, she could be making this up.
“….” Eugene had no emotions in her eyes as she stared straight into Riel’s eyes, “How do I know the information you gave me is real?”
“…” Riel’s mouth shut and the words he wanted to say got stuffed back into his throat. Of course, their information was real! They were a guild of mercenaries and are one of the top mercenaries in Xenperia! This means they are trustworthy! Compared to a random aristocrat lady who appeared out of nowhere at least!
Eugene sighed, “Does your guild know the in and outs of Xenperia? Could you access information that aristocrats lower than the Great Nobles can access?”
Without hesitation, Riel replied, “That is classified information.”
And without hesitation, Eugene replied, “Then my sources are classified as well.”
“…”
It was Riel’s turn to sigh, “Our network is vast.” Meaning, he does have access to classified information.
“Then you must know about the attack at the capital city today.” Eugene was sure that Levis or the Great Nobles wouldn’t say a word about what had happened. This means they would announce that there was a mishap or that they have been training. After all, if two noble daughters disappeared and the public finds out about it, it would ruin the reputation of the daughters.
“… yes.” He jolted a bit when he heard ‘attack at the capital city’ but he replied albeit hesitantly. This was yet news that had yet to spread, all over the country but something that was reported to him via the messenger bird at the capital city.
“Exitium was the group behind today’s incident.”
“… Excuse me?” Riel looked at Eugene with a surprised face. It wasn’t that he didn’t believe her. He immediately trusted her when she mentioned the attack at the capital city because this information was not available to those outside the capital yet.
“Exitium is an organization from Occul Island. You will never be able to get any information on them unless you investigate the known group, Bats.”
Riel didn’t say anything and only listened to Eugene. Though the amount of information she knows was suspicious, he knows that she was not attempting to try anything fishy because if she did, she wouldn’t be revealing this classified information right now.
“I am certain that the information I have given you is plenty. Am I right?” Though Eugene didn’t speak as much as Riel did, her information was indeed of more value than the information Riel provided her. Especially because she gave him the name of the group, the group behind the attack at the capital, and the place island the group was located at.
“… Is it possible for us to buy information from Lady?” Riel knows that Eugene had more information. And though he could investigate from the information Eugene provided him, it would be easier to investigate with more information.
“I have money,” Eugene said without hesitation.
Riel pursed his lips, ‘But you look like a cheap aristocrat Lady who wants to save money at every turn!’ was what he thought in his mind but didn’t say out loud.
“If you could keep tabs on these two groups and relay messages now and then, that would be great,” Eugene said after thinking for a while.
“Yes! We can certainly do that!” He replied immediately. For the information she has, he can do it!
Eugene nodded, “How should we go on about that?” She asked.
“Yes. We will give Lady one of the paired birds. With this, we can send messages to Lady without Lady having to relay us Lady’s coordination. The couple birds will fly back and forth alternatively.”
Eugene nodded. It was a similar system Noelle used when she sent her the first message. Except, the system she used did not contain two birds and merely one.
Eugene was satisfied with the information she got so she thought to warn the guild, “The children possess great ability to learn. They are designed to kill. Which is why if you ever encounter children fighting you, you must kill them right away.”
“Excuse me?” Once again Riel was left feeling flabbergasted and speechless. He did not understand the lady in front of him at all! How does she get information that even his guild didn’t have? Not to mention, information that sounded this outrageous?
Eugene knew that Riel wasn’t going to believe her. But it wasn’t surprising that he didn’t believe her either. Because even she thought that the situation with the children was outrageous.
“The children are no longer children. They are killing machines.” She repeated for Riel to understand.
Seeing Riel still hesitate, Eugene added, “You will understand my words when you are in combat.”
“….”
Eugene closed her eyes for 5 full seconds before re-opening her eyes and telling him, “The incident at Zene. Hypnotism. Manipulation. Children.” She pointed the keywords out for him to understand.
Riel’s eyes were wide open as he stared at Eugene in shock. His face was pale because he knew that what Eugene was saying was the truth.
“Do you understand?” She questioned. The reason why she pointed out Zene without giving him any context was because she knew that he would have that information. If the person in front of her knew information that was classified to nobles other than the Great Nobles, they would know about what truly happened in Zene.
Riel nodded, “I understand. We will be very careful.” His voice was serious as he responded.
Eugene nodded and stood up, “You may send the messenger bird to CC lodge. The receiver’s name is Con.”
Riel nodded and stood up with her.
