My Career is Useless in this World!! - Chapter 206
Episode 199- Classified as a security risk to Xenperia.
‘So they are more powerful than we think they are…’ Eugene furrowed her brows and finished off Ron’s sentence in her mind.
“Why do you ask?” This time it was Ron’s turn to ask Eugene.
Eugene pursed her lips and replied, “They seem to know information that only the Great Nobles and the Emperor knows.” Her eyes moved from the table to Ron and stared at him seriously.
“…” At first Ron didn’t reply because his head couldn’t register her words but after a few seconds, when her words hit him, he screamed while standing up on his feet,
“WHAT?!?!?!!”
“Ack.” Eugene flinched as her palms covered her ears. She glared at Ron who made her ears ring like crazy and rubbed on her ears to make the ringing go away.
“W, what did you say?!” Ron lowered his voice as he leaned down and grabbed Eugene’s shoulders.
Eugene scrunched her eyebrows and she attempted to pull away from Ron, “What?” Her ears were extra sensitive especially because she trained her ears so her mood was low when he screamed in her ears.
“What did you say!?” Despite Eugene’s frown, Ron insisted and repeated his question. His face was pale and filled with seriousness.
Upon hearing the tone of his voice, Eugene stopped struggling and became slightly more serious.
“That they seem to know information commoners, and aristocrats above Marquess knows.”
Ron’s eyes trembled as he stared at Eugene straight in her eyes. After a while he splopped down to his chair and leaned forward, “Do you know ‘what’ classified information above Marquess is Eugeneia?”
“…” I mean.. It should be important? She thought but didn’t reply.
“Information known to the Great Dukes and the Emperor should never be known to other people. And the reason why these information should never be known to other people is that it is classified as a security risk to Xenperia.” Ron explained briefly.
Eugene’s eyes narrowed down slightly. She of course knew that the information the Great Nobles had was very important, but she didn’t think that the information they had was kept secret because of this. No, she just didn’t think it through and didn’t think enough from their perspective.
“However the guild has information the Great Nobles have… This is nothing but bad.” Ron shook his head as he muttered.
“They knew about Kal’s children. And also a bit of what happened at the capital city of Xenperia yesterday.”
“That fast?” Ron’s headshot to Eugene and asked. The people who witnessed the attacks were people loyal to the Veria family which is why when something happens they know to keep it a secret. When Ron got up this morning, he read the newspapers which didn’t mention anything about what happened yesterday. However, the guild already knew?
“I… don’t think they are bad people.” said the quiet Con who has been listening in to the conversation this whole time.
Eugene thought for a moment and nodded, “I don’t think they are people with bad intentions as well.” She had observed them carefully when she went to the guild yesterday. Yes, she did encounter one rude person, however, no one stuck to him and even fired him for his rudeness.
This gesture by itself was rare. Rare because she was in a time where men have less respect for women than they do for their own gender. That was also why she expected to encounter more rude people however was plenty surprised by the outcome.
But of course, that wasn’t all. When she had observed them yesterday, even though most had auras that said that they’ve killed before, there was no evil intention or anything that would make Eugene suspicious about them as a person. Only that they were suspicious with their line of network.
“Alright… Let’s trust them for now.” said Ron who exhaled loudly, “However, this matter will be known to the Great Nobles.”
Eugene and Ron glanced at each other and nodded to one another without hesitation.
Seeing Eugene and Ron calm down, Con decided to use this chance to pass them the note that he got from the transportation center, “This is what Noelle wrote and gave to the head of the transportation center.”
Eugene thanked Con and read it when she frowned.
“Why? What’s wrong?”
“Noele says she’s headed to Zene…” There was speechlessness in Eugene’s voice as she read the note.
Ron frowned, “And what’s wrong with that?” He asked. There was nothing wrong with heading to Zene at all?
Eugene was in deep thoughts for a moment before responding to Ron, “The organization came from Lelips and entered through Lelips water.”
“What?” Ron furrowed his eyebrows, surprised that Eugene knew this information. “Where did you get this information from?” He asked without thinking because he was too surprised that Eugene knew where the organization came from.
“The guild.”
“…” Of course..
Con stood up, spread the map, and looked at it carefully, “The guild said that there is a secret road known to only locals between Zene and Lelips.” His eyes wandered around as he tried to memorize the map.
“Secret road?” Eugene asked.
“There is a big terrain between Lelips and Zene.” Con’s eyes narrowed down to one point in the map and pointed to the big line that bordered Zene and Lelips.
“And here.” He pointed to a spot. “This should be the opening large enough to fit two people to go from Zene to Lelips.” The spot Con pointed out to was circled in red, which Eugene found quite odd.
“According to Riel, the guild leader suspects that they want to throw everyone off in Xenperia and go through to this border.” Because Zene was surrounded by many countries and which means there are no harbors in Zene, it was more likely that they will have to go to Lelips to leave this continent.
As they were in discussion a bird suddenly flew through Ron’s window. Luckily the window was open and it didn’t kill the bird.
Con moved his jacket which a female bird was hiding and released the female bird who immediately flew to the male bird. The birds acknowledge each other with their wings before landing on the table and pecking each other with their beaks.
Eugene ignored this scene and united the note that was tied to the male bird and read out loud,
“Two people have been found. One man was found heading in the direction of Zene. And another was found heading in the direction of Zene’s second border. The person who is heading to Zene’s second border is presumed to be a member of the bandits Bats. We have since sent out two people who are now trailing and following them in secret.”
“The bandit bats?” Ron was confused yet again.
Eugene nodded, “The man behind the second attack at the Veria mountain.” Her eyes were dark as mentioned the attack. “According to the guild, this man is a part of an organization called Bats, a group of infamous bandits who have been lurking in United West Liasel. He was caught however he escaped from prison just recently.”
“Bats…” There was hesitation in Ron’s voice. He glanced up at Eugene with a furrowed eyebrow and muttered, “Don’t tell me.”
Eugene nodded, “That’s right. What you’re thinking is right.” Before anyone could respond, Eugene proceeded to tell everything the guild told her yesterday.
Ron furrowed his eyebrows, “Who do you think was the anonymous person who snitched on Bats?” He questioned suddenly.
“I presume it was probably Euria.” There was resignation in Eugene’s voice as she replied.
“Euria?” There was disbelief in Ron’s voice. “This was 5 years ago. How could it be Euria?” There was an odd look on his face as he looked at Eugene.
Eugene shrugged, it was her intuition.
Seeing Eugene shrug, Ron presumed that it was just one of her speculations, hence he moved on and stated, “Now that we have this information what do you want to do? We need reinforcement. It is impossible to do this by ourselves.” Retrieving Euria without reinforcements was simply suicidal.
Eugene pursed her lips and stared at him with a careful look, “You should head to Lelips directly and wait for the organization at the end of the secret entrance.”
“…” Ron blinked, “What?” Why was she speaking as if she wanted him to go alone without herself or Con?
Eugene said without hesitation, “Con and I will head to Zene to get reinforcements.”
“…Rein… Reinforcements?” Where and how on earth will she get reinforcement in Zene? What on earth is this girl thinking?
Ron didn’t get any answers to his confusion as Eugene paid no heed to him. She didn’t even pay any attention to Con who was looking at her with a confused expression.
“This reinforcement will help us greatly.” She stated simply as she thought back to one of the letters Euria had written to her.. This letter mentioned a lot about the people who killed Ramon in their first life and the people whom she spared 7 years ago.
