My Career is Useless in this World!! - Chapter 209
Episode 202 – Three incidents that may occur
‘If you are putting it that way then…’ Eugene accepted their gratitude and said nothing.
“What request does Lady have? According to Lady Euria, Lady will only find out about our existence if the situation is dire. Does this mean something big has happened?” The oldest child asked.
Eugene felt something clogged in her throat when she was about to reply. She glanced down at the ground for a brief moment before glancing back up and replying, “Euria has been kidnapped.” her voice was desolate and quiet when she responded.
The moment she responded, the surrounding area turned quiet. No one spoke for a good minute as everyone stared at each other.
One of the boys sighed, “We had expected such a situation and prepared for it.”
Eugene’s brows twitch, “What?” Expected such a situation?
The boy’s answer shocked Eugene, “We have been doing simulation training in case something like this happened.”
Eugene furrowed her eyebrows, “Do you mean… Euria knew something like this would happen and trained you?”
The boy nodded, “Lady Euria said there will be 3 incidents that may occur. One, her death, 2 her kidnapping, or 3, Lady’s kidnapping. For those 3 purposes, we have been trained and come up with various plans to counter such scenarios.”
Eugene turned to Con and stared at him in silence. Con told her that Euria left a letter in case something happened to Euria. But from the words of the children, it was possible that Con also expected that Euria was going to be kidnapped sooner or later. Eugene stared at him for a while before turning away.
‘We are here for reinforcements.’ That’s right. Focus on the matter at hand. With reinforcements, they will have a better chance of getting Euria. But if these reinforcements were trained for this exact scenario, the chances of getting Euria back were even higher.
“I doubt Lady Euria was kidnapped though.” Someone said suddenly. This voice cracked a little as if he was going through puberty.
“Hey.” The oldest frowned and looked at him with a stare that told him to not say anything.
“What? Teacher is very strong. She even said she would go to the base willingly if they did not kidnap her.”
“… What?” Eugene furrowed her eyebrows.
This older child glared at his younger brother who dismissed his glare, “There was no way teacher was kidnapped. She must’ve gone there willingly because there was something there that she said that she must do.”
Eugene was speechless and no words came out of her mouth. All this time, she thought that Euria was kidnapped. That she had gone with Darius to save them. But… it was because she had something to do so she went with them willingly?
“What was this something she had to do?” Eugene asked.
The younger child turned to his brother and nodded with eyes that showed ‘your turn’. The oldest sighed and turned to Eugene, ” Lady Euria wants to destroy the financial base they have in United West Liasel.”
Eugene paused. Her face was filled with speechlessness and she repeated, “In.. Raden?”
The oldest child widened his eyes. He did not expect Eugene to know about Raden. After a few seconds, he nodded, “Yes.”
“That base is really their main financial base in this continent?”
The oldest nodded, “The only one in United West Liasel.”
At this moment, Eugene was in deep thoughts. If that were true, what Euria will be doing will be something incredibly dangerous and something that would make the organization completely angered. Because to target, this base means the organization not having the funds to use if they want to target Xenperia or any country in United West Liasel in the future.
Eugene bit her lips and asked one of the children, “Are there any other reasons why she wanted to be ‘kidnapped’ willingly?”
The children and youths turned towards each other with a meaningful look.
One of the children replied to Eugene, “According to what the teacher said, there is a teleportation portal in Raden.”
Eugene’s face paled immediately, “What?”
“The teleportation portal is not Occul. It is not made from anyone’s magic but it is an artifact that has existed in this world since forever. And the only person who can use it is a priest.”
Eugene frowned, “That would be the leader of Exitium.” Priest, Elder, Leader. These were all one person.
“Yes.”
“Does this mean that the organization planned to escape with Euria through Raden?” She muttered to herself.
“Yes.” Someone responded. “According to what Lady Euria said, the organization always goes through Lelip’s entrance. They do this to divert everyone’s attention there when the key members escape through Raden. And their main way of escaping is through teleportation, in Raden.”
Eugene’s face was dark as she clenched her fists tightly. This would mean they did not have 2 weeks but a few days before Euria gets taken away.
“Is Euria planning on leaving this continent?” There was anxiety in her voice as she asked the people who seemed to know more about Euria than she did.
The child shook his head and replied slowly, “No.” he continued, “She wants to destroy the main teleportation artifact for good as well as severely injure the person controlling the teleportation artifact from behind.”
Eugene sighed in relief, however, she also knew that something could still go wrong and that the organization could still bring Euria back with them. According to her observation, Euria looked incredibly weak after using her Occul. And because of this, Eugene wasn’t sure if Euria could escape by using her Occul alone.
She thought for a minute before asking the girl in front of her, “What was the simulation training you did?”
The oldest youth patted the girl and leaned in close to Eugene and Con and whispered to their ears. The moment Eugene and Con heard what simulation training they did and what the plan was, their eyes widened immediately and they backed away. Eugene was surprised. She thought that her plan was well thought out but, when compared to this plan, it paled in comparison. Even if the children wouldn’t join her to get Euria, Eugene wouldn’t mind trashing her plan for this plan.
Eugene thought for a minute, before asking the oldest child to lead her to a table. The oldest child took out ink and some paper and handed it to Eugene who sat in front of a coffee table. He watched as Eugene wrote multiple letters and handed them to Con once she was done.
“If I may ask, what did Lady write?” The oldest child asked her and handed her a cup of tea that was made by his younger brother. Everything in this house was given to them by Euria. This included the expensive tea he just served Eugene, and the teacup itself. Despite living in a forest, their living condition was still good and did not pale compared to people living in the city.
“Reinforcement letters.” Eugene smiled as she sipped on her tea.
“Reinforcement letters?”
Eugene nodded, “To ensure Euria’s plan works out and we get Euria back without a single hair falling off from her hair follicles.”
The oldest nodded and chucked, “Lady is like what Lady Euria said Lady is.”
Eugene raised a brow and stared at him with a questioning look.
“She said that you are someone sarcastic and someone fun to talk to.”
Eugene shook her head. She observed her surroundings and turned to the oldest youth again, “Does my sister treat you alright?” Because besides seemingly giving them a place to live, and maybe a fair share of the money, at the end of the day, Euria was still using them.
The oldest smiled and nodded, “Because of Lady Euria, our lives have improved by leaps and bounds. In fact, when Lady Euria saved us, she told us to serve her and protect Lady Eugeneia from anything. But after a year of training, Lady Euria suddenly said she wanted to dismiss us. That she was going to bring us to a safe place, a safe country, somewhere no one could find us, where we can live our days happily.” He smiled again and he continued, “But we were unwilling. She was the one who taught us. She was the one who reached her hands to us.”
Eugene studied the oldest youth’s face carefully and asked, “Even if she did teach you and reach her hands out first, why didn’t you leave? Does living like this not restrict your freedom?”
The youth shook his head, “Freedom is nothing if we don’t follow what our heart wants. Hence, this is our freedom. We want to be good to Lady Euria because she is incredibly good to us. We didn’t leave because we wanted to stay with Lady Euria. We want to serve her, and accomplish her goals with her.”
“… Is that so…” Eugene leaned back and stared at the person sitting opposite of her.. It was the first time hearing someone praising Euria so much.
