My Career is Useless in this World!! - Chapter 245
Episode 238- You will regret sacrificing yourself to let them live.
The soldiers surrounding the small figure with black robe turned to where the figure was looking and immediately raised their guards up in alarm. They were stunned and shocked at Euria who suddenly appeared between them.
“MISS?!”
“PLEASE HEAD TO SAFETY!”
“GET IN THE CARRIAGE EURIA!” Duke Rodriguez raised his voice. His voice was filled with anger as if he couldn’t comprehend why Euria was here. It was also the first time he raised his voice at Euria but it was not the time to care about it.
His instincts were telling him that the person in front of him was strong. Not only strong, but the small figure was dangerous. Though the small figure did not compare to him physically and would not win if this was a physical fight, at the end of the day, it came down to the figure’s mysterious power. With the figure’s Occul, he was unable to touch the figure physically or deal damage at all.
Euria smiled lightly but shook her head, “You can’t touch her without your Occul, uncle.”
Duke Rodriguez was about to raise his voice again when he paused. ‘Uncle?’ It was the first time Euria’s ever called him this way. The way she called him intimately sent him shivers in his heart. It didn’t feel right, and his gut told him something was wrong.
However, he didn’t dare immerse himself in that feeling and walked straight to Euria. Just as he was about to reach Euria, he was stopped suddenly by a barrier created by Euria that didn’t allow people to come a meter close to her. No matter what the soldiers and Duke Rodriguez did, they were unable to get closer to Euria.
“EURIA!” He shouted, anger could be felt by everyone around them. His fists punched through Euria’s invisible wall until cuts and bruises could be seen, but even then, Euria did not put down her invisible barrier.
“You haven’t changed. Always making people mad. Always doing the things you will regret later.” The figure standing opposite of Euria smiled. Her curving lips were visible to everyone standing around her.
“You will regret sacrificing yourself to let them live.” The voice said ambiguously.
Euria raised a brow, “…”
“That is because the people you sacrifice your life for will live in pain. They will live in pain for the rest of their lives. And that’s what you will regret. But what other choices do you have?”
The reason why Euria wanted to follow the person in front of her was that the person in front of her knew her so well. The person understood her so well that it charmed her heart. Well, it wasn’t only her that wanted to follow the person in front of her. Because the person in front of her activated everyone’s Occul, and because the person in front of her was a charming leader, it made everyone want to follow the figure. It was because of this that everyone came to love the Occul and devote themselves to the figure.
“Staying with others makes you weak, Euria. Emotions are for the weak. Now, come back to my side.” The figure held its hand out to Euria as if it was the most natural thing to do. As if the figure was used to holding hands with Euria.
Euria only stared at the figure’s hand. The hand that used to bring her to places, to great heights in the past. The hands that destroyed her family. In the end, Euria couldn’t help but laugh out loud which prompted the figure’s hand to twitch before lowering back to its place.
“Elsm, you are very funny. Did you really think that I will hold the hands that destroyed my family?” Euria asked through laughter.
“…” The elder, whose name had not been called for a thousand years, paused.
“Ha…” Elsm smiled and adjust the hood.
“If they had stayed still, I wouldn’t have resorted to such moves. But they had to destroy my plans one by one. Even if I am a patient person for you, Euria, I can not be patient for too long.” The elder replied, his shoulders appearing to have to have given up in resignation.
Euria only stared at the person opposite of her blankly. She never had the time to think upon Elder Elsm words, but now that she thought about it, every conversation they had, the person would always include, ‘for you, Euria’. She never thought about how odd it was, but now…
Euria decided to shake her head of unnecessary thoughts. What’s most important was how and why the elder was here at this moment when it should be impossible to be here. And the reason why it was impossible was that the person who opened the teleportation portal could be none other than the person in front of her. Which meant that the attack she did at Raden’s base, should work, so how was it possible that the person was in front of her and breathing just fine?
“How did you come here?” In the end, Euria couldn’t help but ask.
Elder Elsm still had a smile, and replied right away, “Through normal means of transportation.”
Euria’s eyebrows twitched, “Normal… means? Then the teleportation portal?”
“Ah, that’s what you’re curious about?” There was a hint of disappointment in Elder Elsm voice, however, Elsm replied, “I raised an elder and put that elder in my position for the time being.”
“…What?” Euria’s eyes widened. ‘That’s not… possible. It’s impossible!’ There was no one capable of being an elder in Occul Island other than the person in front of her! Which was how the person in front of her became an Elder in the first place!
“You think there isn’t anyone capable of being an Elder?” Elder Elsm asked, hitting Euria’s curiosity straight on the spot.
Elsm smiled creepy, sending Euria goosebumps down her spine, “It wasn’t that there wasn’t anyone capable. But that I hunted everyone down one by one and killed them. But of course, things are different now as you can see.”
“Naturally they aren’t capable as I am so I made that up with quantity. Talking about quantity and elders, you had them all killed with that attack you sent through the teleportation portal. How mean of you to destroy the people I raised for more than a decade. Now you made me go back to square one again.” The figure shook its head in sadness as it confessed.
Euria was alarmed by Elsm’s words, “More than a decade?”
Elsm raised a brow and stared at Euria with a smile, “Ah, yes. I was born 3 years before you, which gave me the time to do whatever I want. Like… recover my powers?”
Euria could not bring herself to keep a straight face anymore as a gloomy atmosphere descended upon her. Her face was dark as she stared at the person in front of her. This was something she never expected. Not to mention, Elder coming back 3 years prior should be impossible because this was a world that had gone back in the past. It was not possible…
No. It was possible. It was possible if Elder was older than her. She didn’t exist yet when Elder was born. The more Euria pondered upon this problem deeply the more aware she became of the possibilities. The possibilities that there might still be people who had Occul. It was possible that the Elder had prevented some people from having their Occul’s taken away. Because this wasn’t a remade world, but rather one in which time had been reversed.
Euria felt cold sweat trickling down her forehead from this realization. Unlike what Elder said, she never thought of sacrificing herself. However, that was until she realized that Elder had gone back 3 years before her. 3 years was enough time to recover a lot of powers and become powerful. And in this situation, Eura had no choice but to prepare for the worst-case scenario, even if it meant going back on her word to live no matter what.
“Don’t be scared, Euria. I only want you and I don’t want you to die.” Elsm spoke when suddenly Duke Rodriguez shouted,
“SHE WILL NOT GO ANYWHER-”
Before the Duke could finish his sentence, the elder snapped its head towards Duke Rodriguez and raised its hands up. There was no time to breathe as the red liquid surrounding the elder began to fly straight and charge towards Duke Rodriguez.
The red liquid that flew straight towards Duke Rodriguez’s face was quick and flexible. It followed after Duke Rodriguez quickly even after he had dodged it multiple times. It was as if it was a missile that locked on its target, and would not back down until it successfully hit the target. Just before Duke Rodriguez was about to dodge for the 5th time, the red substance paused.. The red substance spread in all kinds of directions as if it was blocked by an invisible wall.
