My Career is Useless in this World!! - Chapter 249
Episode 242- Eugene’s entire face scraped and ripped off.
Eugene furrowed her eyebrows, “So… we’re going to die?”
Euria pursed her lips, “Not to that extent… But severely injured.” She spoke realistically.
Eugene was not able to ask Euria any more questions as a series of attacks headed her way. The bad part of it all was Eugene was trained in martial arts and physical fights. Using Occul to fight and whatnot was something she was uncomfortable with, not to mention something she recently learned to use. Hence, she was only able to command her shield to cover herself and wished for her blood to attack, but it wasn’t enough.
She felt as if she was walking in a thin line because she was barely able to defend against the attack of Exitium’s leader. She never noticed that Elsm would attack until her attacks landed on the shield she constantly had to put up. This was how hard the situation was for her.
Eugene drew her sword and tried to calm her mind. It was impossible for her to fight with magic, which means she had to fight with what she was familiar with and that was her sword. She wished she could fight with her hands however it looked incredibly impossible at the moment and threw away that thought.
Eugene surrounded her black sword with blood which elongated to handle long-distance attacks. But even though she was holding her sword, she was unable to attack because she could not see Elsm attacks.
“Enhance eyes,” Eugene commanded her blood.
“Accelerate body movement.” The moment she wished that, her body became light and in a flash, she arrived before Elsm and attacked her with her sword.
The sound produced from her sword hitting the shield Elsm erected in time screeched across the whole forest and brought chills down everyone’s spines.
-Crack-
Eugene stared wide-eyed at the small crack on Elsm’s shield. Even though it was just a small crack, it gave her plenty of confidence. And with this confidence and without any time wasted, Eugene immediately began to attack Elsm. She attacked one attack after the other without giving Elsm the chance to attack her back.
Eugene thrust her sword, swung her sword to keep Elsm on high alert, and when all of Elsm focus was on her sword, she immediately reinforced her legs and kicked Elsm on her blindspot.
“URGH!”
Eugene and Euria stood together as they watched Elsm toppled over 7 trees. Of course, Elsm wasn’t like Eugene who wasn’t able to feel pain, hence even though Elsm only crashed against 7 trees, Eugene could confidently say that it was a successful attack.
Eugene held up her sword and concentrated hard. This trick will not work again. Her thoughts soon proved to be true because she did not have a chance to attack ELsm any longer. If Eugene got close to Elsm, Elsm would back away. And when Eugene backed off, Elsm would get closer. It was a frustrating situation however what can Eugene do but defend while thinking of a better idea.
Though it was a harsh reality, only Euria had a chance to bring down Elsm. Why? Because only Euria’s attack was landing on Elsm.
“….” Eugene bit her lips hard. She thought deeply for a few seconds before backing off and heading straight to Euria’s side.
‘Heal. Power up. Shield. Strengthen. Exchange blood for Cul.’ Whatever words Eugene could think of, she did. Of course, she could feel her body getting tremendously heavy after each and every word.
Elsm seemed to understand what Eugene was about to do and followed quickly after her. But it was too late because Eugene had slammed her palm on Euria’s face, forcing Euria to take what she wished for using her Occul.
What Eugene forgot was that her body was reinforced with power, and when she had slapped Euria’s face, she had sent Euria who did not put up any guards around Eugene, to fly a few meters away.
‘!!’ Eugene had no time to turn back as she felt an impending danger and a murderous intent behind her. There was no time to react, and she was immediately hit, however, unlike the attack that caused her to fly 10 trees back, this attack was much more powerful and stronger.
Maybe she hit her head, but Eugene was blank as she was sent far away. The way she fell was very ungrateful. It included multiple rolls, and sliding on the ground multiple times, landing on her face, and whatnot. The friction from sliding scraped all of her skin off her body, and just when she thought she was about to pass out, she was caught and stopped by a large figure who took the impact and hugged her to himself.
The embrace was warm and familiar. It made her almost want to fall unconscious because of how relaxed she felt in the person’s embrace. However, she stopped herself and got off of the person’s arm immediately.
“Father.” Eugene turned around as she stared at the person’s grey hair. It was obvious but this person was her very much handsome father.
“Eugene..ia.” Levis stared at her in shock as all colors stripped off his face.
Eugene understood that Levis wasn’t shocked at her for calling him father for the first time and was most probably shocked at how she presented herself to him visually. She glanced down at her body and her eyes widened in horror.
Her clothes were basically ripped and shredded from rolling on the ground. But that wasn’t important. The important part was that the skin underneath her clothes was ripped off. Some parts of her skin appeared to have been burnt from acid, while some parts appeared as if it was scrapped off by friction. In other words, she had no good skin left on her body and was bleeding all over.
She didn’t even have shoes on, most likely because her shoes had burnt off when Elsm ordered her blood to burn her and Louis.
Levis stared at his daughter in horror as his entire body began to shake violently. He had been waiting in the capital city but rushed here because of the red flare that signaled an emergency. It wasn’t just him who saw it but everyone in the capital city who saw it which caused everyone to be in a frenzy.
He was with Moniqua and Aernest at that time who panicked and wanted to rush here with him. However, he reassured them and told them to stay behind. He was shocked when he saw his daughter sent flying away.
It was shocking but what’s more shocking was the wretched appearance of his daughter whose entire face was stripped away and covered in an abrasion-like mark. He couldn’t take his gaze away from his daughter’s face, even if it meant seeing what’s underneath her skin.
Drip- Drip-
Red liquid dripped down to the ground. Eugene raised her hands to feel the liquid and allowed her hands to guide their way to her face. She lowered her hands and noticed that her palms were covered in blood. And it was only now that she realized her entire face must’ve ripped off.
Eugene moved her eyes back to Levis whose eyes were bloodshot as he stared into her eyes quietly. He looked as if he was about to cry. Eugene gulped, “I’m fine.”
She shook her head suddenly, “No. I’m not fine.” She promised Levis that she was going to tell him if she was to ever get hurt.
“Don’t worry, Duke. I don’t feel pain. And I can heal it quickly. Everything will be okay.” No matter how many reassuring words she told him, Levis only focussed on her bloody face. Of course, she wanted to see how she looked right now however it was not the time to go ask for a mirror.
“Most importantly. Euria.” Eugene turned in the direction of Elsm and Euria. She got up and was about to take a step forward when all of a sudden darkness hit her. Eugene stopped herself from falling because of the person behind her so she stood still for a second and appeared as if she was just pondering upon something.
‘Heal.’ Eugene wished. Though healing made her feel more tired, it was better than falling and blacking out now.
Eugene took a step forward and headed towards Euria’s direction when her arm was caught.
“You can’t.” Eugene turned around and stared at him blankly.
“… But I healed-”
“You can’t.” There was only resolute in his tone, as he gripped her tightly. And though he could see that blood was no longer dripping from her fresh wounds, her entire appearance was still very bloody and this still scared him very much.
Eugene bit her lips when all of a sudden, she could feel a ripple in the air. Eugene turned to the ripple and saw Euria hovering above the air. There was a subtle aura covering Euria’s entire body. The aura was almost imperceptible, but there was a faint rainbow in it.
It was as if the air was pulsating and everyone’s heartbeat matched the pulsating air.
