My Career is Useless in this World!! - Chapter 255
Episode 248- She only knew the him from her former world.
Louis was no longer a weapon, but instead, the best big brother.
Louis never forced the things his paternal grandmother forced him to do to Ramon. But instead, as Ramon grew up, what Louis taught him was patience. That there is a time for everything.
And this was the reason why Ramon was especially attached to Louis. They had an unspeakable and unbreakable bond. When Ramon became an older brother, Louis stopped looking after him and made Ramon look after Aernest.
Whatever Louis taught Ramon, Ramon taught Aernest. This pattern was broken when the twins were born. Once again, Louis took charge of Eugene, who took charge of Aernest. While Ramon took charge of Euria.
“Thank you,” Eugene said again to Louis who didn’t say anything and turned away out of awkwardness.
Eugene turned to Levis and spoke, “I have to talk to you.”
Naturally, everyone was surprised however they nodded in understanding. Eugene followed Levis to his study room and sat at her usual place on his couch. Levis walked away for a moment and prepared Eugene her usual jasmine tea.
As soon as Levis handed Eugene her cup of tea, Eugene spoke, “I would like to have an audience with the Emperor.”
Levis paused for a second before proceeding to sit on the couch opposite Eugene. He took his cup of tea and sipped it slightly before setting it down.
“What for?” He asked.
Eugene stared straight into Levis’s eyes, “… I want something.” She said very seriously which made Levis’s furrowed his eyebrows.
“And that ‘something’ is something I cannot give you?” He asked her.
Eugene hesitated but nodded. If she had asked this favor from Levis then it would defeat the purpose of what she wanted. Not to mention, she did not want anyone to know of the thing she wanted, especially her family.
Levis went silent for a few seconds before responding to her, “I can make that happen. Is there anything else you need?” He asked her.
“Thank you and no. I don’t need anything else. Brother gave me plenty.” She replied, of which Levis’s eyes immediately widened. It was his first time hearing Eugene call Louis by his polite title. It was shocking but at the same time, it wasn’t because Eugene had also called Moniqua mother. He felt very happy inside and gave her a beautiful smile.
“I will ask our physician to give you a health check-up. Staying cooped up in your room is not healthy. Is that alright?” He asked her.
“Yes.” Eugene nodded, “I am fine with that.”

And that was how Eugene asked to have an audience with the Emperor a week ago. After leaving her room, she went back to running daily the next day. However, she did not go back to her usual routine entirely as she asked to take a break from her studies and training for the time being.
The reason why was because she didn’t feel comfortable taking on a heavy load just yet and simply wanted to reset everything. She wanted to take one small step at a time so that she was not overwhelmed with life. And this small step was the reason why she asked for an audience with the Emperor. Because she wanted to reset her life and find her purpose again.
Eugene walked past the Imperial tea room where Princess Liren held tea parties every week. Princess Liren had always invited both her and Euria to her parties, however, they’ve always declined which was, to be honest, very rude especially considering that Princess Liren was of direct royal descent.
Eugene sighed and was walking around a corner when she found herself almost bumping into someone wearing camouflage military clothes. She hadn’t heard anyone walking around the corner and was shocked at first… She sidestepped using her former family martial arts and moved forward using the Veria family’s flash-step even though there was only a 5 cm distance between herself and the person in front.
The moment she stepped forward, she found that there were actually two people and not just one. Her heart skipped a beat from being unable to detect 2 people at this distance, however, she remained calm.
Eugene raised her right hand above her right eyes and held it there to salute the two soldiers. Just as she was about to head away after they saluted her, a charming voice spoke,
“So small?”
Eugene hadn’t turned away yet so she glanced up. The first person she saw was an old man in his forties, the man who she saw when she was almost executed, the Commander of the Military, Guang Fu. For all obvious reasons, she ignored the guy who called her small and saluted to the Commander again.
“Greetings, Commander.” Eugene saluted again, with the same seriousness.
“You may be at ease.” The Commander saluted back and ordered her to rest her hand.
Eugene did and immediately straightened both of her hands. She saw someone really unexpectedly so she didn’t know what to do. She knows that Duke Rodriguez and Duke Marleigh were trained by this man here, and knows that he was a highly esteemed person but that was all. They didn’t know each other and because she didn’t know what to do, she didn’t carry on with the conversation.
“I will take my leave.” She saluted again, and the Commander saluted back. Just before she left she wanted to take a peek at the guy who called her short and when she did she froze.
She knows this man. She knew this man. Though she didn’t know him well and they weren’t considered close, she still knew him. But she only knew the him from her former world.
Her heart sped up not in happiness but for some reason in pain. The pain wasn’t a lot and was leaning towards the minimal side but her heart still felt heavy. She didn’t know why her heart began to hurt randomly and felt as though she had experienced this feeling before.
The man appeared to be in his late teens. He did not carry his mature and entrepreneur look from his former world. Nevertheless, the teen in front of her was still a good-looking man with handsome facial features. His lips were not too thin and not too big. His eyes were sharp and powerful. And the aura that radiated off this teen made him appear very masculine.
Maybe because he noticed that Eugene was staring at him, he lowered his sharp eyes, and the moment their eyes met, his eyes changed. It was clear as day that he was looking at something shocking. However, she did not think that the person in front of her would have memories of her former world. Or was even the same person inside.
The moment she thought that the eyes of the man in front of her began to reddened and tear up.
‘Is he regretting calling me short because I am a beautiful human being?’ Eugene’s lips parted slightly as she didn’t know what to do with the man who was tearing up. In the end, she saluted her goodbyes and left.
‘… Weirdo.’ She thought silently as she headed her way to the audience room. No matter how beautiful she was, her child charms weren’t enough for someone to begin crying? Not unless they were as beautiful as Moniqua, Aedelak, Levis, and Louis, or cute as Euria, Aeselak, Aernest, and Ramon, of course.
As Eugene left and walked away, Commander Guang spoke, “She evaded using our martial arts, didn’t she?” He asked the teen in front of him, his voice had a hint of suspicion and his eyes were narrowed down.
But no matter how long Commander waited, he did not hear any replies and instead heard the sound of heavy breathing. He turned to his son curiously and when his eyes saw his son’s face, his eyes widened in shock! In utter shock!
“…What… What is wrong with you?” There was only speechlessness in his voice as he stared at his only son, Guang Liqin. His only ever serious, ‘do-whatever-he-wanted’, son, was… crying?!
His son has never cried once ever since reaching the age of 3. Even when he went through rigorous training, almost burnt their house, went to civil wars, watched people die, and did many horrifying things, he had never once shed a tear but… He was crying?! Now?
“What is wrong with you?!” Commander Guang Fu asked again as he glanced back and forth around the area to check if there were people nearby.
“I… don’t know.” His voice was low, thick, and hoarse as if he didn’t know why as well. The first time he had met her, his heart had hurt this much as well. But now that he saw her face, the painful feeling of sadness and hurt was times a hundred.. It was an awful feeling and it was worse than seeing children die from a plague.
