My Career is Useless in this World!! - Chapter 260
Episode 253- New generation of guns: Sniping Rifle
The trainees from the special unit turned pale almost immediately. They had initially thought that Eugene had caught their instructor climbing up the tree and didn’t think that she found where he was afterwards.
They have been through many tests and have failed all of them because of the harsh requirement. The only reason they were still here was because they persisted. They know that all the tests conducted were hard and know that if Eugene had truly passed the test, it means that she was more than capable. More than capable than how she appears at least.
Instructor T.E gave a knowing look before looking around. He was thinking of conducting obstacle course tests, however, it would be too easy for Eugene, and he didn’t want her to obliterate the souls of the special trainees because, at the end of the day, they were all comrades.
Though they might have weird thoughts about Eugene being a noble and criticized them, it was because they had this one sided view of her. And once they fight her, they will see that Eugene wasn’t a one dimensional person and was someone with unlimited potential. And this outcome would be the best.
Little did Instructor T.E know, Eugene wanted to crush them to a pulp and had no thoughts on holding back. Whatever is comrades? Let’s be comrades after she crushes them to dust and have them apologize for the things they said to her sworn brothers.
Commander Guang thought for a minute before pointing his finger at a solider far away and then turning back to the group of people,
“What about this? We have just built a new generation of sniping guns. There has been no predecessor or anyone to test it out yet. And you will be the first.”
Instructor T.E’s eyes widened, ‘That would be a complete honor!’ He turned to Eugene expecting some happy form of expression but was only met with a blank look of indifference. He wanted to poke her cheeks and asked her why she wasn’t enthusiastic! Before, she had been saying how much she wanted their guns to get an upgrade! And now that it was upgraded, why wasn’t she happy huh?!
The trainees from the special forces were quite excited! The entry test to become a special force soldier was to have a 95% accuracy, which of course they failed. However, because they had been constantly practicing, their accuracy became better hence they were confident that they were going to do well and win!
“What do you want from one another if you win?” Commander Guang asked.
Immediately the special forces team replied, “To be able to continue training as a special force unit.”
Eugene also replied, “For these fellow comrades to take back the words they said to my Comrades.” The whole reason why she was mad in the first place.
The special forces training seemed to have realized something and were about to say something when Commander Guang spoke,
“Alright. Let’s do that.” He nodded that he approved of their wants, and walked to the shooting range. Eugene, her comrades, and the special forces trainees followed after.
“These are the new generation of guns, sniping guns. It is used to snipe enemies from a long distance without being close or being discovered by the enemies. It is very precise and has a telescopic sight for accuracy.” a person standing behind Commander Guang explained.
Eugene ‘wowed’ in her heart, ‘… How technology has developed.’ From bamboo guns in the book to sniping guns. Will there be a gun machine in the future? Probably…
“You will start sniping at 300m and increase the distance from there.” As soon as the soldier behind Commander Guang finished, all the trainees all paled. 300 meters distance was no joke. All the soldiers trained on a 20-70m range, while special unit soldiers trained at 70-120m. There was no training range further than that.
What they didn’t know was that the telescopic sight the Commander mentioned, is something that will make the enemies appear zoomed in. Hence, it wouldn’t matter if they were further than usual.
Eugene nodded, received her gun case, and walked to the 300m marked. As she walked she caught a person staring at her from 50 meters away. It was the soldier who had called her small but she took it as him calling her short. The soldiers who teared up because she was … beautiful. Eugene paused slightly, however, continued walking forward after a second.
She had felt out of breath and felt stuffy when she saw that man a few hours ago. However, she was completely fine now.
She walked to her place and set the sniper up using her instincts and her memories of handling guns in her former life. Though sniping guns were different, it wasn’t too hard as long as she knew what the different pieces were used for. What she didn’t know was that… no one was supposed to know how to assemble a sniping gun.
When Guang Liqen, Guang Fu, her comrades, and the special trainees’ forces saw what she was doing they froze. They froze in astonishment, in shock, and in horror. No one dared to say anything until Eugene finished assembling a complete rifle sniper.
Arie was the first one to break the silence, “Comrade Eugeneia… How do you know how to build a… rifle?” he asked her.
Eugene moved her eyes to Arie and then to everyone around her who was as quiet as day.
“… Is it not… obvious?” She tilted her head as she stared at her masterpiece. This was half-lies, half-truth. She was basically acting. She knows how to assemble the rifle sniper because she has built and assembled something similar in her former world. But it was also pretty obvious which part goes where just like puzzle pieces.
To prove her point, Eugene disassembled the sniping rifle again and built it into a gun that was similar to the guns they were using.
“Without the telescope and this extra long piece in front, it becomes a rifle gun. Just upgraded.” Eugene explained as she assembled the gun.
“…” Still, everyone looked at her in wonder. Eugene didn’t bother explaining anymore and disassembled the gun and assembled it into a sniper gun again.
“… I feel like I know the ins and out after watching as well.” One of the special forces trainees said. Eugene’s assembling and disassembling did not look complicated and in fact, looked easy.
Commander Guang said, “You try it then.” He said. Eugene’s knowledge of this military secret sniper rifle, which had yet to be introduced to the military, made him suspicious. However, after seeing the process and seeing her at ease, she just categorized her as a genius. Because after all, it wasn’t a hard thing to put together especially if they were someone smart. All it took was someone with a good imagination.
Many of the special trainees were confused when they began to assemble their sniper gun, however, there was someone who managed to build a sniper rifle without any instructions, proving Eugene’s words as true.
The trainees who hadn’t been able to build a rifle sniper were shown how to do so by the person by Commander Guang’s side, and once everyone’s guns were completed, the test began.
It was 5 special forces trainees vs Eugene. Commander Guang had asked Eugene if she wanted it to be a 1v1 battle, but Eugene refused and instead provoked the trainees to all come at her.
To be fair, the 5 would go first before Eugene, which would give Eugene a lot of time to prepare and learn from the soldiers’ mistakes.
The test was for everyone to snipe the water gourd down using their telescopic vision from 300 meters away. Though the water gourd was small from 300m away, the telescope helped everyone greatly.
BOOM!
BOOM!
BOOM!
Many gunshots could be heard in rapid succession. Eugene had requested a noise-canceling headphone in advance, so it wasn’t too bad for her, but it was still bad because they were using a sniper rifle, which was very loud in general.
“PASS!”
Eugene was next. All this time she had been holding her sniper rifle to get used to it. And only when it was her turn did she set it down and put the bullets in. She got close to the telescope and stared at her target carefully before sniping.
BOOM!
“PASS!”
Eugene moved away from the telescopic vision and carried the sniper rifle to a distance of 500 meters. As she skipped 400m and went for 500m, three special unit trainees looked at her in awe. Two special trainees, on the other hand, trailed behind her and stopped at the 500m as well.
‘Too bad it’s not adjustable.’ She thought as she touched her telescopic vision.. She knew that telescopes could be adjustable in the modern-day to zoom in or zoom out, however it was not possible in this time and age just yet.
