My Career is Useless in this World!! - Chapter 269
Episode 262- A noble way of thinking
She was just a normal child, this was what he concluded from the bickering between Aernest and Eugene.
He had told Aernest about the rumors of Eugene, and Aernest did go mad, however, he said that his sister wouldn’t care so for them, so for him to just forget about it. When asked why she wouldn’t care especially because the rumors were about her, Aernest said that Eugene would think it was beneath her and also that people are free to have an opinion of their own.
Though he did not truly understand Aernest words back then, he believed in his words now. People like him wouldn’t and couldn’t dare to think that people are free to have their own opinions because it is such a “noble” way of thinking. But he also knew it wasn’t a noble thing to say or think such things because no noble would say or dare to think such things. Hence, for the first time today, he was able to discover a bit of what Eugene’s world was like. It was a small wave going against a big wave however it did not clash but lived amongst each other peacefully without either wave going out. That was how he would describe Eugene’s personality and mindset.
“I and Ppa can also cook. We can take turns cooking. 3 days of our cooking, 2 days of Camille’s cooking, and 2 days of school’s cooking. How about that?” He smiled at Eugene and Aernest and joined in on their conversation.
Eugene turned to Watt with a raised brow, “You can cook?” she asked. Now… she was kind of interested.
Watt smiled, “Yes. I normally cook for my 2 sisters.” He turned left and right as if he wanted to say something secretly and leaned in closer to Aernest and Eugene, “They said that my cooking is better than our mother’s.” He said in a whisper-like tone before moving away and smiling.
Eugene nodded with an ‘oh’. To be honest, she had assumed Watt and Ppa would leave after that day so she was surprised when Aernest came to the assembly hall with Watt and Ppa. Watt was someone whose smile was charming and someone who looked to be a mediator if a fight ever breaks out, while Ppa was someone who was more outgoing like Aernest and Ron. Unfortunately, he was shorter than Eugene by 2 cm, hitting the 3rd tallest in the class but there was nothing nobody can do about that.
“Food is ready!” shouted Camille from afar! A brown-haired girl popped out from the door followed by a beautiful smile on her face.
‘Already?’ Eugene raised a brow and immediately walked over to the kitchen to help Camille with the utensils and plates when Ppa came out holding a bunch of plates and utensils stacked up like a pro chef.
Ppa looked at Eugene through the small gap and smiled, “I got this.” He said before passing by her.
“It went very fast because Ppa helped by preparing the ingredients,” Camille said as she set the plates of food down. Eugene, Aernest, and Watt could do nothing but sit as food appeared in front of them one by one.
“Have a good meal.” Said Camille to everyone who nodded at her and thanked her and Ppa who made the feast together. Together they dug in the food one by one. Though it was a simple lunch, every dish was made carefully and a lot of thought was put into the nutrition. This Aernest and Watt could tell. Eugene loved the food very much that she dug in without her eyes leaving the food on the table.
Camille had asked Eugene’s opinion on what Eugene liked to eat a while ago, which is why the dishes were so well-balanced. Eugene isn’t picky and can eat anything, but she was honest and told Camille that it would be better if the food didn’t have too many carbs and instead had a lot of meat and vegetables. This was to keep her body in shape and maintained. With fewer carbs, her body would not store too much sugar, and with a lot of meat, her body would use fat as the main source of energy which is good for muscle training. And to balance everything out, she ate a lot of vegetables which is incredibly good for the body.
“It’s very good.” Said Aernest as he pouted at Eugene! When everyone saw Aernest pouting everyone had questions on their faces but only Eugene knew what his pout meant. It was a pout that realizes the true meaning behind her words earlier on. It wasn’t that Eugene didn’t want to work Camille to death but because she wanted to keep her chef to herself.
Ppa smiled, “Watt and I are good chefs too. We should cook one day.” He turned to Watt who nodded and replied,
“Well, we actually discussed it earlier while you were cooking. That we would cook 3 days a week, Miss Camille would cook 2 days a week, and we would eat at the school’s canteen 2 days a week.”
Ppa nodded in acknowledgment before turning to Camille, “Is that alright with you, Camille?” He completely dropped his honorifics as he asked her casually. Everyone heard this and thought that they must’ve gotten close with each other while cooking.
Camille smiled and nodded, “Yes, I am.” She then turned to Eugene, “Is this alright?” Eugene nodded, “So as long as you don’t overwork yourself.” Because at this moment, Camille was in charge of her breakfast and lunch and also cleaning the apartment.
Camille nodded to indicate that she would be okay.
“I will help you prepare the ingredients just like today,” Ppa added to which Camille nodded and replied she would do the same when it was their turn to cook. And just like this, the tasks were delegated evenly. Camille, Watt, and Ppa will be in charge of cooking and preparing the ingredients, Eugene will be in charge of bringing the utensils and investing in the food, while Aernest will be in charge of washing the dishes.
Though there were many objections with Eugene and Aernest helping, with Eugene’s deathly glare, they shut up and had no choice but to acknowledge their tasks.
Everyone was in the kitchen staring at Aernest whilst he washed the dishes. Everyone was secretly surprised to find out that Aernest was a pro because of how clean yet fast his dishwashing skills were. At this moment Watt spoke out,
“Do you know what classes you will be taking? I presume you wouldn’t take the night class as you are staying in the dorm.” He asked while turning to Camille.
Camille blinked and tilted her head, “What… classes?” Her voice sounded confused. Incredibly confused, making Eugene raise a brow.
“… The classes you filled out on the form today.” There was a long pause before Eugene answered Camille.
Camille turned to Eugene, “…Oh…” Her oh sounded very suspicious, making Aernest to pause in dishwashing, and everyone else turning towards her.
Ppa gulped, “What did you… fill out?” There was speechlessness in Ppa’s voice as he asked her.
“…” Camille scratched her head, “Well… A Lot?” She tilted her head and responded.
Eugene closed her eyes and breathed in, ‘Don’t tell me she just crossed everything.’ Just as she thought this Ppa spoke out,
“Don’t tell me you crossed everything.” There was speechlessness in his voice as he asked again.
“…Yes?” Camille replied. When she saw that everyone’s expressions were not looking good she jumped up and defended herself, “Well, the principal said that knowledge is power! So I crossed everything!”
“….” No one could respond to her defense. In the end, Ppa brought a chair over, dragged Camille to sit on the chair, and began to lecture what each class is and what the differences are from start to the end.
Night classes are general study classes. They are part-time and last from 3-4 hours per day. The general studies include ethics, maths, chemistry, geography, biology, and history. With general studies, you can graduate from the academy within 3-5 years depending on how well you do. They are popular with commoners. They take it so that they can head home during the day to help their family out with work before coming back to school and taking the night classes. This class eventually became popular with Noble ladies who didn’t like to study in the morning and instead preferred to go shopping during the day or leave the academy during the day.
Then comes the morning classes. Morning classes include a full day of classes. You get 3-4 hours of general studies and 3 hours of one specialized study.. After finishing 3-5 years of studies depending on how well you do, you can graduate then or continue on with the academy and take the specialized study which takes 5-8 years depending on what you study and how well you study the subject.
