My Celestial Ascension - Chapter 446: Serrounded From All Directions
“You?don’t?need to worry, Mom. I can maintain the flying sword just fine for ten hours without feeling exhausted,”?Yuan replied?with a calm smile, reassuring her.
Then he looked at Leah, who was panting heavily with an exhausted look?on her face. With a small smile, he said,?”My dear, you look so exhausted. Please have some rest.?It’s?not good for you to push yourself so hard.”
“I’m?sorry about this.?I’m?still such a weak woman…”?Leah took a deep breath and apologized?to him, looking at him with a bittersweet smile.
“It’s?alright.?It’s?bound to happen since?you’re?only a Spirit Apprentice. And you?don’t?need to apologize to me;?it’s?the?husband’s?duty to?take care of?his wife.”?Yuan smiled at her before lifting her up and placing her on the flat surface of the sword.
“For safety, you should grab the blade tightly so you?don’t?accidentally fall from it,”?Yuan said, placing her hands on the sharp edge of the sword.
Leah hesitated to place her hands on the sharp edge of the sword, fearing that she would lose all her fingers, as she had seen how easily the?sword?could cut even the strongest monster.
Looking at the reluctant look on her face, Yuan smiled.?”Don’t?worry, as long as I?don’t?want the sword to harm you, it?won’t. Besides,?you’re?my wife; this sword?won’t?hurt you.”
“Are you telling the truth?”?She still hesitated to place her hands on the edge of the sword.
“Why, of course! Would it be possible for me to ever lie to my wife?”
She then nodded?her head?and put her finger on the sharp edge of the sword.?When she slid her finger along the edge, surprisingly, the?sword?didn’t?cut her.
Once she confirmed?Yuan’s?words, she?quickly grabbed the edge of the sword tightly.?The sword soared a little higher, giving her an extraordinary experience she had never felt before. Her eyes sparkled with excitement.
While Leah enjoyed the comfortable ride on his flying sword with a?small?grin?on her face, Mireya and Sylvia looked at her with slight jealousy as they rode their horses.
Seeing their reactions, Anna and Grace?couldn’t?help but chuckle inwardly.
Meanwhile, King Richard, Crown Prince Daniel, and the representatives from other nations?couldn’t?help but stare at Leah with dumbfounded looks on their faces.
“Is that sword some?kind of?powerful artifact with the ability to fly? If not, how else can we describe how?it’s?flying, even carrying a beautiful lady on top of it?”?Archmage Eldrick muttered with an astonished look?on his face, unable to comprehend how the sword was flying without using any mana.
Though the sword was?extremely?massive and?had a unique appearance, it appeared?quite?normal, as if?it was made?from ordinary steel and?didn’t?contain mana. However, seeing the magnificence of the sword as it flew through the air carrying Leah, they believed it to be an artifact above the Legendary Grade treasure.
This?was just speculation on their part, as they had no proof that this sword was a treasure above the Legendary Grade.
“I?would like to examine it and see what kind of material this sword?is made?from, but I?don’t?want to provoke such a powerful being just because?I’m?curious,”?Archmage Isadora said, releasing a deep sigh.
Upon hearing this, King Richard smiled awkwardly and said,?”Well,?we’re?not an exception to that either. This material…?I’ve?never seen anything like it before.?It’s?as if the weapon is handcrafted by the gods.”
“Let’s?forget about that sword and focus on the pressing matter?at hand. I sense a few strong, sinister presences approaching us,”?Archmage Isadora said sternly, sensing the approaching danger with her superior magic sense.
“What?!”?Crown Prince Daniel exclaimed in shock, his expression becoming?very serious.?”How many?”
“Almost a thousand, and… it seems?we’re?surrounded by them…”?Archmage?Isadora’s?voice lowered toward the end, and her face turned pale as she realized?the danger they were in.
“Almost a thousand…?that’s?a ridiculous number,”?King Richard muttered, seemingly in disbelief.
“A?thousand powerful monsters… can we even go against them? Even though we have thousands of people on our side,?it’s?still impossible for us to go against such powerful monsters!”?Arthur almost shouted, his face pale with horror.
“Well, we have no choice but to fight them since?we’ve?been surrounded,”?Daniel said suddenly, rolling his eyes and sneering at Arthur. He?didn’t?like?Arthur’s?behavior at all.
“Is there no other solution to this problem? Surely we can avoid this if we—”?Before Arthur could finish his sentence, he saw Daniel and King Richard looking at him sternly.
“Holy Son, are you suggesting that we sacrifice our people in order to escape safely??You’re?more spineless than I thought.?You’re?truly a disappointment as a Holy Son, Arthur,”?the Crown Prince spoke?with a stern voice, looking at him with a sneer.
“You!”?Arthur’s?face immediately twisted, and his eyes turned red with anger, feeling extremely frustrated.
A few seconds later, King Richard sighed and said,?”Holy Son,?we’ve?been surrounded by Corrupted Monsters?and?we have no choice but to fight them head-on if we want to live.”
“And if you?don’t?value your life,?you’re?free to flee or do whatever you want, but we?won’t?be responsible for your death,”?King Richard finished, releasing powerful pressure from his?body,?and?making Arthur tremble in fear.
Feeling the intense pressure, Arthur stumbled backward and almost fell to the ground but managed to maintain his balance just in time.
“Holy Son!”
The Holy Knights shouted in concern, seeing their beloved Holy Sonbeing bulliedby King Richard and the others.
Seeing the concerned look on their faces, Arthur raised his hand.”Don’tworry,I’mfine.”
“But, Holy Son—”
“Didn’tI say thatI’mfine?!”Arthur looked at the Holy Knights furiously, his eyes red with anger, makingthe Holy Knightsimmediately shut their mouths.
Meanwhile, everyone else became aware of the danger that had unexpectedly surrounded them. Their expressions turned pale with fear.
Everyone was trembling, knowing they were surrounded by thousands of Corrupted Monsters, but since they already knew how to deal with them, they felt less concerned about defeating them.
Everyone then turned to look at Yuan and his wives, curious about his reaction to the situation. To their surprise, Yuan and his wiveslookedvery relaxed, not worried at all, which amazed everyone with the calm air around them.
“How could they remain calm in a moment like this?”
“The Corrupted Monsters could reach us any moment now, andyet he is flirting with his wives? Is this for real?”
“But seeing them relaxed like this, I feel less stressed, though Idon’tknow why.”
“Me too! Perhapshe’sconfident in his strength and believes he can win. After all, they have experience dealing with Corrupted Monsters, unlike us.”
“That’sprobably the reason whythey’reso calm.”
“Without a doubt.”
People began to whisper to one another, and soontheair became thick with anticipation and tension as the Corrupted Monsters got closer and closer.
Lily ignored the curious gazes of the people and looked at her brother, wondering what he was planning.”Brother dearest, what are your thoughts? Are we going to act before they do or not?”
“However, if we let those weaklings handle the monsters, it will waste a lot of our precious time, which wecan’tafford to waste,”Lily said, showing her excitementto fight the approaching monsters.
“Well, you do have a point,”Yuan smiled at her and continued,”Almost a thousand Corrupted Monsters are approaching us from all directions, and because of the thick miasma blocking our vision, those mortals are ata very bigdisadvantage.”
“And if wedon’ttake action, all of them are going to die here,”Yuan said with a rather grim voice, causing his wives to raise their brows at his words.
“All of them?”Mireya, Sylvia, and Valeria were shocked upon hearing this, nearly shouting out loud.
“Indeed,”Yuan nodded with a sigh.”The Corrupted Monsters surrounding us are very powerful with a sinister energy. Idon’tthink any of those mortals would be able to destroy their hearts and kill them easily.”
“So, the method you told them to kill them is useless now?”Valeriacouldn’tbelieve it and looked at Yuan with disbelief.
“Your guess is spot on. Butthat’sonly applicable to the weaklings. There are more than a hundred people within the group whom I consider strong,”Yuan replied a moment later.
“Sothey’renot totally hopeless. I feel relieved to hear that,”Mireya sighed.
“Well, waiting for the monsters to appear is a waste of time and an unwise move,”Yuan said, then looked at Valeria.”Valeria,go andorder everyone whoisn’tan A-rank Hunter, a master-rank mage, or a warrior to gather in one place and tell them to combine their mana to create a powerful barrier.”
“And let the strongest people act offensively and attack the monsters at their weak points, especially the joints.Thiswill render the monsters unable to move, making them easy targets to destroy their hearts.”
“Also, tell the mages with fire attributes to act as long-distance support from within the barrier.Thiswill slow down the monsters significantly, giving the offensive team the advantage they need.”
“Iunderstand.I’llgo and immediately gatherthemin one place and have them create the defensive barrier as soon as possible.”Mireya quickly nodded and left the scene.
She quickly gathered everyone below A-rank and ordered them to create a massive defensive barrier that would act as a fortress and block the monsters from attacking them. The King and the representatives from the other nations quickly agreed to the plan and ordered everyone to follow GeneralValeria’slead.
Soon, a powerful multi-layered defensive barrierwas created, covering almost three hundred meters in a giant dome.
“This will do just fine.”Yuan was satisfied with the result, making everyone feel relieved. Even King Richard was waiting to hear his opinion.
“So what should we do now since we have created the barrier?”King Richard asked, an anticipatory look on his face as he waited for Yuan to respond.
“Nothing! We willjustwait for the monsters to come closer…”Yuan smiled as he looked at the horizon as if he knew the exact location of the monsters.
