My Celestial Ascension - Chapter 465: Formation Grades
Tall ancient structures of the building stood imposingly, casting shadows on the ground. Most of the structures were broken, as if a great disaster had occurred in the past, destroying this place.
The air was thick with excitement and wonder, creating a mysterious atmosphere that intrigued everyone’s hearts.
Despite the impact of time, the tall structures looked quite sturdy, and everyone couldn’t help but be curious to learn more about this ancient structure.
“This is… unbelievable!”
“I never anticipated something like this to exist within the Core Area of the Forest of Never Return!”
“What kind of ancient civilization could have existed in this place? Look at those markings… very strange yet beautiful!”
People began to murmur in wonder, captivated by the sight of the ancient structure that had been lost for thousands of years, untouched by people for who knows how long.
Every structure bore markings, some of them beautiful and similar to one another. Archmage Isadora couldn’t contain her excitement upon seeing those markings and immediately began to examine them.
“These structures… they are more than hundreds of thousands of years old… I’ve never seen something like this before…” Archmage Isadora muttered in excitement as she carefully examined the structures, trying her best not to damage them.
Meanwhile, Yuan and his wives looked at the structures with amused expressions, also surprised to find something like this. Yuan’s divine sense hadn’t sensed the structures before, as if the broken structures couldn’t be detected by divine sense, as though an invisible force was concealing them.
“This is almost unbelievable… the spiritual energy here is so dense and potent, much denser compared to the places we’ve been to,” Lily muttered in a dazed voice, feeling the difference instantly.
“Indeed. This place has a tremendous amount of spiritual energy… No wonder I sensed a few spiritual beasts not far away from this area,” Yuan added, nodding his head.
“I can also feel it; it’s incredible! If we cultivate in a place like this, our cultivation will progress much faster,” Rose said, with a surprised look in her eyes.
“Well, even though the spiritual energy here is quite thick and potent, we can’t cultivate here,” Yuan said, sighing.
Lily suddenly raised her brows. “And why is that?”
“Well, we have a mission to finish, and besides, we can’t expose too much about cultivation to them. Or it will be troublesome for us later,” Yuan replied.
“I see… I understand now,” Lily responded with a gentle nod.
“[Host! This place seems to be surrounded by a powerful formation!]” Suddenly and unexpectedly, Yuan heard Nora’s voice inside his head, shouting.
He was in disbelief upon hearing this; he was more surprised hearing her voice rather than about the new information about an array formation. It’s been a while since he last spoke to Nora or heard her voice, after all.
“What? There is a formation here… this means this place once belonged to cultivators, or perhaps this place was once an important place for the cultivators,” Yuan muttered after coming out of his daze.
“Indeed, we have already enough trouble and we cannot attract more trouble,” Anna nodded her head, reminiscing about their encounter with the Golden Skull member.
“What kind of formation did you discover, Nora?” Yuan asked her inside his head, as he didn’t have much knowledge regarding the array formations.
“[Host, I’ve discovered one Spirit Gathering Array Formation and the other one is a concealing formation. And it’s due to the second formation, you didn’t detect this place with your divine sense,]” Nora quickly replied.
“I see… The array formations must be very high-ranking since they are still working even though thousands of years have passed already.” Although the strength of the formations has greatly reduced with the passage of time, they’re still functioning perfectly.
If a formation master were here at this moment, restoring the formations would be quite easy and effortless. Unfortunately, Yuan doesn’t know much about formations, so he can’t do anything to restore them.
“[Both formations are seventh-grade formations, so of course they’d be strong and long-lasting. Whoever set up these formations must be a very renowned formation master.]”
“Seventh grade?! Just how many grades are there? I’m curious.” Yuan was surprised to learn that the two formations were seventh-grade, and with the way Nora was praising the formation master, he immediately understood that creating a seventh-grade formation is very difficult.
“[There are a total of nine different grades for formations, and there are even a few grades above those. But you don’t need to know about them for now; you will encounter such formations from Sixth Heaven or above,]” Nora replied a moment later.
[For now, you only need to know that there are nine grades of formations, and the formations you are inside are seventh-grade. Though they might seem weak in your eyes, don’t underestimate them. Creating such flawless seventh-grade formations requires more than a hundred years. It’s extremely difficult.]”
“I see…” Yuan was surprised to learn that there were so many grades for array formations, and moreover, there were a few more grades above those.
Meanwhile, Anna and Grace used their divine sense to check the area for any possible inheritance in this ancient ruin. Since there is such a massive amount of spiritual energy present, it is bound to attract many spiritual beasts.
However, as soon as they opened and expanded their divine sense, their expressions began to change rapidly. They found a couple of spiritual beasts a few meters away, but what shocked them the most wasn’t the number or strength of the beasts, but the size of the ruin itself.
No matter how hard they tried to expand their divine sense further, they couldn’t cover the entire ruin, as though it was much larger than a kilometer in diameter.
“U-Unbelievable… this ruin is probably much larger than a few kilometers. I’m speechless!” Anna muttered, a look of disbelief on her face.
Grace nodded with a similar expression, while the others stared at them with confused looks, wondering what Anna and Grace had witnessed to cause such reactions.
“Mothers-in-law, what happened? Why are you both making such expressions?” Rose approached them with a curious and slightly concerned look on her face.
“Well, you two won’t believe this, but this ruin stretches very far and wide… our divine sense couldn’t even cover half of the area,” Grace responded, her voice carrying a hint of concern and amazement.
“What?!” The girls exclaimed, looking astonished and seemingly in disbelief.
“I can’t believe this… how could such a massive ruin exist inside the Core Area of the Forest of Never Return?” Rose muttered, her voice trembling in disbelief.
“And this place seems to have been associated with cultivators in the past. I can sense a few array formations here,” Xi Meili added as she looked around the ruin with her powerful divine sense.
She was aware of such things due to her ancestral memories, inherited through her powerful bloodline as a member of the ancient primordial chaos dragon.
She instantly recognized the two formations surrounding the entire place with just a single gaze and was able to tell what kind of formations they were.
“Formations? The same kind of barrier that was concealing the previous ancient ruin we encountered?” Lily asked, surprised. Until now, she hadn’t even realized they were inside an array formation.
“That’s right. They’re the same, but these two formations are rather unique compared to the formation before.”
“How so?” Lily asked.
Xi Meili chuckled. “These two formations are seventh-grade, while that formation was a sixth-level concealment formation.”
As Xi Meili began to explain about the array formations, they suddenly heard the sound of powerful explosions a few meters away, where King Richard and the others were researching the old structures.
Boom!
Another powerful explosion occurred, causing dust to fly around.
Valeria raised her brows and looked toward the direction. “What are those idiots doing there? Did they encounter a powerful beast?”
“I wonder too…” Lily chuckled.
“Don’t worry, I didn’t sense the presence of any monsters in their way,” Emma reassured them with a smile.
Suddenly, Archmage Isadora came running toward them with an excited and anticipatory look on her face.
“Miss Isadora, what brings you to us this time?” Yuan asked her calmly upon seeing her.
“Well, I discovered a hidden compartment just a few meters away from here,” Archmage Isadora replied, her eyes sparkling with excitement. Then her expression turned sad. “However, there seems to be an invisible force blocking us from entering.”
“What?!” Yuan and his wives were surprised to hear this and looked at Isadora in disbelief.
“So the explosions earlier…”
“Indeed,” Archmage Isadora nodded and continued, “Those were the explosions resulting from our failure to destroy the invisible barrier. No matter what we throw at it, the barrier doesn’t show any sign of weakness.”
“We’re clueless about the barrier, so I came here for help, Yuan. You most certainly know something about it.” She looked at Yuan with anticipation in her eyes.
‘A barrier… it must be some sort of defensive formation, keeping the secret compartment safe from intruders,’ Yuan thought, a sly smile appearing on his face.
