My Celestial Ascension - Chapter 466: Grade-Nine Formation
Archmage Isadora looked at Yuan with an anticipatory expression and asked, “Do you know something about this mysterious barrier that is preventing us from entering the secret compartment?”
‘It’s better to keep it to yourself and pretend that we don’t know, at least for now,’ Yuan thought and exchanged a quick glance with his wives.
“I’m sorry, Miss Isadora, but this is the first time I’ve heard about such a barrier. If you show us the place, we may figure out what kind of barrier is blocking you from entering the compartment,” Yuan lied, a sly smile on his face.
He wasn’t planning to reveal what kind of barrier it was until he could guess what might be hidden inside the secret compartment.
‘As expected of my darling, he is quite cunning. The barrier mentioned by Isadora must be a formation. There could be a lot of priceless treasure hidden inside the compartment… we definitely can’t let those people take it.’ An excited spark could be seen in Grace’s eyes as she pondered the possibility.
Then she said, “Indeed, until we see the barrier personally, we can’t say anything.”
“I see… then please follow me back to the spot. King Richard and Archmage Eldrick are personally trying to break the barrier as we speak,” Archmage Isadora said, leading them toward the barrier.
Meanwhile, King Richard, Archmage Eldrick, Crown Prince Daniel, and Holy Son Arthur stared at the barrier with frustrated looks on their faces, as none of their methods seemed to be working on the strange, mysterious barrier.
“Just what kind of barrier is this? None of our attacks are effective, not even physical attacks,” Holy Son Arthur muttered with a frustrated look, seemingly shocked and confused that none of their efforts were working.
Archmage Eldrick moved closer to the barrier, stretched his arm forward, and felt the barrier with his palm before saying, “Strange… I’ve never come across such a barrier in my career as a mage. It’s as if an invisible but profound force is blocking us.”
“Not only that, Archmage Eldrick, I can’t even sense any mana fluctuations from the barrier… It’s as if the wind itself became solidified and is blocking us from entering.” King Richard placed his hand on the barrier and tried to use his mana to analyze it, but his attempts failed.
“Indeed. I also can’t sense anything from the barrier…” Archmage Eldrick appeared surprised upon his attempt to analyze the barrier. Even as an Archmage, he was dumbfounded by it and had no idea how it worked.
“Is there no way for us to enter the compartment? There could be a lot of treasures hidden inside.” Holy Son Arthur came closer to the barrier and asked.
Archmage Eldrick looked at Arthur and shook his head. “I’m sorry, but I have no idea about the barrier at all. I believe that destroying this barrier is impossible for us.”
“Is that so… It’s a pity that we can’t do anything about this barrier.” Crown Prince Daniel sighed in disappointment and sat on a large piece of rubble.
King Richard and the others stepped away from the barrier and sat beside Daniel, waiting for Archmage Isadora to return.
While King Richard and the others were resting, other people decided to give it a shot by trying to destroy the barrier. Shortly, many explosions occurred, shaking the ground with their formidable power.
However, nothing happened to the barrier; not even a small crack appeared. People were dumbfounded as none of their magical attacks worked against it.
“Let’s use our weapons and destroy this barrier. If magical attacks are useless, then only physical attacks might work.”
With that, many people took out their swords and spears, used their mana to enhance their bodies, and launched relentless attacks on the barrier.
Thousands of people tried different methods to destroy the barrier, but in the end, nothing happened to it. Upon witnessing this, people’s eyes nearly popped out of their sockets.
“Unbelievable! Even after receiving so many powerful attacks from thousands of people, there isn’t even a slight crack in the barrier!”
“Just who the hell made this indestructible barrier?”
“I wonder if the gods of the floating island could destroy the barrier or not?”
“Is this barrier created by an almighty god? It could be, right?”
“Indeed, and it seems that we won’t be able to see what is inside the compartment.”
Shocked murmurs resounded through the area as everyone marveled at the barrier’s resilience. It was as if the barrier was created by an almighty god.
“Your Majesty, I’ve brought them with me.”
Suddenly, Archmage Isadora’s charming voice echoed from a distance, making everyone turn around and look at her with curiosity.
“Oh, you brought them,” King Richard said, smiling at Isadora after glancing at Yuan and his wives. “Do you really believe they have knowledge regarding this barrier, Miss Isadora?”
“I believe they have the ability to destroy this barrier, and from what I can tell, they indeed have some knowledge about it,” Archmage Isadora whispered to him with a very serious look, which convinced him to believe her words.
Upon seeing Yuan and his wives, Daniel walked up to him with a wide grin. “Ah, Yuan, where did you guys go after arriving here? I was looking for you but couldn’t find you.”
Yuan turned around upon hearing his voice and smiled. “We were just looking around. After all, who doesn’t want to explore such an ancient site?”
“Indeed. I’m also very curious about its history; it seems to be lost in time,” Daniel chuckled as he looked at the ancient structures with a dazed expression.
“I couldn’t agree more,” Yuan smiled.
“So that’s the barrier that is preventing everyone from entering the chamber,” Valeria’s voice suddenly resounded from the side, making Yuan turn around and look at the barrier with his eyebrows raised.
“Interesting… I can’t sense any mana from the barrier,” Mireya added, a surprised look on her face as she got closer to the barrier.
“Me neither, it’s so strange yet mysterious,” Sylvia added.
Mireya then walked away from the barrier and approached Yuan with a curious look on her face and asked, “Yuan, what do you think about this barrier? Can you destroy it?”
“I’m not too sure,” Yuan shook his head and approached the barrier himself to take a closer look.
However, she didn’t know that Yuan already knew what kind of barrier it was, as he had already used his divine sense to examine it. There was no doubt that it was an array formation used to safeguard the secret chamber from intruders.
‘This formation… it doesn’t seem like a low-grade formation. I doubt I can destroy it without using my full power,’ Yuan thought as he examined the formation using his divine sense.
When he tried to penetrate the formation with his divine sense to see what was inside the chamber before making any decisions, his divine sense was blocked by the formation, which greatly shocked him.
[Host, this is a very complex grade-nine array formation. With your current cultivation, you won’t be able to make even a small scratch on the formation.]
Suddenly, Nora’s voice resounded inside his head, making him extremely shocked. He had never anticipated this formation to be the highest grade. No wonder his divine sense couldn’t penetrate it.
“U-Unbelievable… how could something like this be here, in this mortal world?” Yuan muttered in a daze, seemingly shocked by Nora’s revelation.
Anna and the others noticed the dramatic change in his expression and immediately got close to him. Grace asked, her concern evident in her voice, “What happened, Darling? Why are you making such an expression?”
This caused the others to look at him as well, and Archmage Isadora raised her brows.
Yuan quickly composed himself and smiled. “It was nothing, I was just surprised that my divine sense can’t penetrate the formation.”
“I see… I’m relieved to hear it,” Grace said, letting out a sigh of relief and smiling sweetly at him.
‘Divine sense? Formation? What is he talking about? I’ve never heard of something like this before…’ Archmage Isadora pondered with a strange look on her face.
“Dear, do you know what kind of formation this is?” Anna asked him.
“Mom, this is a grade-nine formation. I don’t think I can open it using my strength; my cultivation is too low to damage this formation,” Yuan replied with a sigh.
“Is that so…” Anna then thought for a moment and turned to look at Xi Meili. “Meili dear, do you think you can deactivate this formation?”
“Let me take a closer look at the formation first. Only then can I tell if it’s within my ability to deactivate it,” Xi Meili replied. She got close to the formation and began to examine it up close.
A few seconds later, Xi Meili retrieved her divine sense from the formation and looked at Anna. “I’m sorry, but I can’t deactivate this formation. I only know up to grade-five formations; this formation is grade nine.”
“So, I can’t do anything to deactivate this formation,” Xi Meili said, lowering her head in disappointment. Seeing this, Anna hugged her and comforted her.
“Don’t be sad about it. It is still incredible that you know about grade-five formations…” Anna said, embracing her with a smile, making Xi Meili smile.
Seeing that Xi Meili couldn’t do anything against this formation, Yuan took a step closer to the formation and began to observe it up close. After staring at it for a moment, Yuan felt a kind of attraction toward the formation.
‘Strange, why am I getting a feeling that something is calling me? Is there someone trapped inside the formation?’ Yuan wondered, confusion written all over his face.
