My Celestial Ascension - Chapter 539: Not The Descendant
Sometime later, Grandpa Fang cleared his throat and said, “Now, let’s focus on the important matter at hand; everything else can be discussed later.”
Everyone’s expression immediately turned serious at his words.
“Son, go to our family vault and retrieve the Green Jade Cup. We need it to determine whether this young man is the descendant of our Lord,” Grandpa Fang instructed his son, Fang Hao, to fetch a special cup that had been passed down from generation to generation.
“I understand. I’ll be back in a minute,” Fang Hao replied, quickly standing up and heading off to retrieve the cup.
A few minutes later, Fang Hao returned with a small wooden box in hand and promptly handed it to his father.
“Here is the cup, Father,” Fang Hao said before returning to his seat.
“This is indeed the box where I stored the cup,” Grandpa Fang confirmed. He opened the box by sending a wisp of Qi into it, causing the seal to instantly disappear.
[Green Jade Cup]
[Grade: None]
[Description: A cup made from ordinary Green Jade found near a water source. While it may not be considered a treasure due to its mundane origins, it has absorbed spiritual energy over time, giving it a faint trace of spiritual power.]
‘Oh, it’s just an ordinary cup. For a moment, I thought it was a treasure since I could sense a bit of spiritual energy from it,’ Yuan sighed inwardly, disappointed by his earlier mistake.
Yuan stared at the jade cup for a moment, wondering how they would test if he was truly a descendant of their lord.
“So, Grandpa Fang, how are you going to test if I’m the descendant of your lord or not?” Yuan asked, his curiosity piqued.
“Isn’t it quite obvious? We’ll use your blood to determine whether you carry the bloodline of our Lord,” Grandpa Fang replied with a chuckle.
“I see…” Yuan nodded, understanding.
“Now, young man, make a small cut on your finger and drop a few drops of blood into the cup. We will handle the rest,” Grandma Fang said with a smile, holding the cup closer to him.
Yuan nodded and immediately summoned a beautiful black dagger—Slaughtering Abyss—into his hand. Its appearance drew everyone’s attention.
‘This aura… It can’t be mistaken!’ Grandpa Fang and Grandma Fang immediately frowned at the sight of the dagger in Yuan’s hand, instantly recognizing what he was holding.
Oblivious to their shocked expressions, Yuan made a small cut at the tip of his finger and let a few drops of blood fall into the cup.
As soon as Yuan’s blood was exposed to the air, the entire Fang family felt a strange reaction in their bodies, a craving for the blood before them that they had never felt before.
‘What the heck is happening to us?! Why are we so drawn to these drops of blood?! This has never happened before!’ Everyone stared at the cup with a hungry look, as if they hadn’t eaten in a hundred years.
‘Don’t tell me they’re all vampires who want to suck my blood dry!’ Yuan thought to himself, alarmed by their strange behavior.
Sensing the awkwardness in Yuan’s expression, everyone quickly controlled their urge and put on a serious face.
“Well, we apologize for that, Yuan. For some reason, your blood excited us. This has never happened to us before, so we’re just as clueless as you are,” Grandpa Fang quickly apologized, acknowledging the awkward situation.
Then, he turned his gaze to the dagger in Yuan’s hand and asked, “That dagger in your hand… It’s a Soul Weapon, isn’t it?”
“Indeed. It’s one of my Soul Weapons—Slaughtering Abyss,” Yuan replied with a smile, proudly showing off the dagger, even though he had never used it since acquiring it.
“Weapons?! You mean you have another Soul Weapon besides this one?! That’s impossible! One person can only make a contract with one Soul Weapon!” Grandpa Fang exclaimed, astonished.
“That’s right,” Yuan confirmed with a wide grin before retrieving the Empyreal Oblivion from his system storage. “This is my other Soul Weapon—Empyreal Oblivion.”
“Unbelievable! You truly possess two Soul Weapons! This is unheard of!” The entire Fang family was shocked by this revelation, viewing Yuan as a heaven-defying genius who could wield two Soul Weapons.
‘We have to make him our grandson-in-law!’ Grandpa Fang and Grandma Fang quickly exchanged knowing glances, and Fang Xiaoyan’s parents did the same, giggling softly.
A moment later, Grandpa Fang turned to his granddaughter and said, “Go ahead, Xiaoyan. Drop some of your blood into the cup as well.”
“Yes, Grandpa,” Fang Xiaoyan replied.
She retrieved a small knife from her spatial ring—a family heirloom passed down through generations—and made a small cut on her finger, allowing a few drops of her blood to fall into the cup.
Everyone watched in anticipation as the two sets of blood mingled inside the cup.
One second… two seconds… three seconds… four seconds…
A full minute passed, but there was no reaction in the cup. The old couple sighed heavily, clearly disappointed.
“Unfortunately, it appears that you’re not a descendant of our Lord, as your blood did not mix with my granddaughter’s,” Grandpa Fang said with a disappointed sigh.
“I see…” Yuan nodded, feeling a sense of relief that he hadn’t turned out to be a descendant of their Lord.
Yet his curiosity about the identity of their Lord—or rather, the masked figure—only grew. How could he be the only one who had seen this figure? How did that person know about his arrival in the secret realm? The whole situation was puzzling and mysterious.
“Though you’re not the descendant of our Lord, you’re incredibly talented, and your future is boundless, given that you can wield two powerful Soul Weapons. You are certainly qualified to be our granddaughter’s husband,” Grandma Fang said to Yuan with a grin.
“But I’m already married and have multiple partners,” Yuan replied awkwardly, “Besides, Miss Fang Xiaoyan also has the right to choose her own husband.”
‘It seems the old couple still hasn’t given up on marrying their granddaughter to me… They’re so stubborn,’ Yuan sighed inwardly.
“Ignore them, Yuan,” Fang Xiaoyan said, “They’ve been like this since I turned eighteen. My parents are the same; they keep pressuring me to get married so I can give them a grandchild.”
“If you have any questions about anything, feel free to ask. My grandparents have been living in this secret realm for thousands of years,” Fang Xiaoyan offered.
Yuan nodded. “Can you tell me more about this secret realm and the Lord you spoke of? Let’s start with the secret realm, so I can find my wives as soon as possible.”
After taking a deep breath, the old couple began to share everything they knew about the secret realm and the Lord they had sworn to serve, while Fang Xiaoyan’s parents went to prepare food for everyone. Since they were hosting a guest today, they planned to make something special to celebrate. The mature lady sent her husband to hunt down a monster to cook.
Yuan was surprised to learn there was an entire town inside this secret realm, with a population of around a thousand people. Though it was small compared to even the smallest town outside, it was still significant, and every one of its citizens was a cultivator.
“So, what’s the average cultivation base of the citizens?” Yuan asked, intrigued by the city within the secret realm.
“This city is called Xian City, and the average cultivation base here is at the peak of the Spirit Master level. The most powerful person has reached the third level of Spirit Grandmaster,” Grandpa Fang replied with a smile.
“Third-level Spirit Grandmaster, huh…?” Yuan mumbled, realizing that everyone in the city could easily wipe out a city in the outside world.
“You don’t need to worry about them. With your talent and cultivation, unless those old foxes decide to intervene, you can beat anyone in the city,” Grandma Fang said with a broad grin.
Then she added, “However, you should be careful of one particular person if you visit the city. He is the Young Master of the Ping family—Chen Ping, the only son of the city’s ruling family.”
“He has been pursuing our granddaughter for quite some time now. Whenever she visits the town to exchange goods, he tries to get close to her. But our clueless granddaughter doesn’t even spare him a glance, much less let him have his way,” Grandma Fang explained to Yuan.
“He’s obsessed with her, and anyone who tries to get close to her ends up with multiple broken bones,” Grandpa Fang added, grinning as he exchanged a look with Grandma Fang.
“Indeed. So, young man, you’d better be careful when you visit the city with Xiaoyan later,” Grandma Fang warned, a mischievous grin on her face.
Meanwhile, Fang Xiaoyan, who had been listening to their every word and watching their expressions, gritted her teeth in frustration.
‘They will never change… It seems they’ll only stop once they’ve tied me to Yuan,’ Fang Xiaoyan sighed inwardly, feeling a bit restless for some reason.
A few moments later, Fang Xiaoyan looked at Yuan with a curious expression and asked, “By the way, do you have some kind of special bloodline that makes your blood emit such a delicious aroma?”
“To my knowledge, I don’t possess any special bloodline,” Yuan replied, feeling puzzled by the unique hint of gold in his own blood.
