My Ceo Harem Cultivation System - Chapter 297: An Offer For A Vampire
When the Heavens took interest in your plight then the chances of change were imminent—but as to whether it would be a good one or not, that was entirely up to them.
One could probably ignore the signs and urges of the Heavens if it was at the very beginning, but sometimes, the offer was quite tempting.
[ The Quest of Eternal Companionship Is Offered To You ]
It is not good for a woman to be alone and suddenly the man arrives as if the gods and fates themselves ordained his arrival. Take this man into your chambers and turn him into an eternal companion.
Rewards: 1x Eternal Partner
Failure: The man’s departure
Elizabeth Hawthorne was not one to be pulled along by the games of gods and men—she did not understand how the Ones from Above found their relish and entertainment from watching those at a less fortunate position than theirs.
And yet the idea of having this man for herself, Elizabeth actually liked the thought of that.
…Perhaps it was a much better end than the story the gods were currently pushing him to go through? Elizabeth doubted it. This was just one of their ways to have Elizabeth move in a certain direction that they wanted.
A small nudge if you will.
His blood was already on her lips and tongue, but whenever she tried to ingest it properly and form a pact with him—the blood began to singe on her body as if his blood was filled with the essence of the sun itself.
Consuming it was perhaps the closest thing to the ichor of those from above.
She couldn’t change him, but it didn’t mean that he couldn’t be made to stay.
Elizabeth pushed her hair back a little and turned her attention away from the heavenly screen back to the man and he… Li Yang was already running away—the bastard was moving extremely fast compared to the average human!
“Why you…”
How dare he not even say goodbye?!
“You—come back here! At this very instant!” Elizabeth shouted at him and began to chase him down when her voice failed to gain monopoly of the man’s body.
While the man did have a head start and an unfair advantage of being fast, it wasn’t enough to lose her at all. Compared to the man avoiding, ducking and maneuvering through the thick and gnarly woods that she lived in—Elizabeth’s shadows simply destroyed every obstacle in her path.
Elizabeth chased him through the woods, the old roads until the two of them reached down all the way to the very edge of the cliff. Li Yang stopped at once at the edge of the cliff and stared up at the Vampire with an unapologetic expression.
Out of all possible places for him to arrive in, did he really have to corner himself like that?
“I have been nothing but hospitable and yet this is how you repay me?”
“I do not think you remember the fact that I’ve already tried to say goodbye, haven’t I?”
“Ah, what wise words to say to me. Do you think it really matters what you say when I want you to stay with me?” The Vampire’s eyes glinted not with mischief, but a sense of annoyance at being left at her gardens without even saying goodbye.
At least, Li Yang thought it was emotions of annoyance instead of an all-consuming rage. “I’d like to think that it does matter, because I am not obliged to follow your orders.”
“Well spoken, that I must admit. But I simply won’t accept this kind of defeat… you’ll stay with me even if I have to declaw your feet.”
“There’s nothing much to declaw, that I can assure you.” Li Yang eyed the Vampire’s hands and to where her fingernails changed into a much more cutting edge one. Transformation. Partial or not. It was a powerful ability.
Was she going to attack him with it?
Li Yang thought of the chances of pulling up his Yao Slayer and seeing how far it would take him to survive this encounter. Perhaps he could purchase something like enchanted holy water to make her burn?
His train of thoughts were dispelled by her rebuttal.
“If you cannot be declawed, then I’ll chain you to my dungeons if that is the case.” Elizabeth sniffed at him. “I tried to be of genial nature and accommodating and yet your actions are simply spitting it back in my face.”
Li Yang frowned a bit. “I did not think that you were into that.”
“Into what?” Elizabeth stared back at him in confusion and then blinked. “The torture? Please do not tell me that you are some kind of maniac who enjoys being inflicted with pain. I simply have reasons to chain you up, but I am not a barbarian.”
“Then do not tell me that you’re into dominating other people,” Li Yang said. He took the chance to have her talking as an opportunity to immediately check on the System screen. Out of everyone he encountered, she was one of the easier ones that kept talking if prompted.
Perhaps it was a sign that Elizabeth Hawthorne was truly at a loss for companions.
Li Yang only hesitated at it once, before he eyed the item he chose to purchase. Even if the Vampire was capable of reading and knowing about the bonds that the Heavens placed on him, it didn’t mean that she could actually see him buy.
“… subjugation. That is one of the things that my people do.” Elizabeth frowned at him, before huffing slightly. “I do not think that humans would forget that those who are turned into Vampires are expected to be ruled by those who changed them? Once I change you into one of my own, then I have the right to dominate you.”
Li Yang studied her expression and realized that despite her knowing the word masochist and what it was, she didn’t seem to know about sex in general. It wouldn’t be that much of a surprise to him though.
Vampires probably didn’t have that much of a need to procreate when you could just bite and turn victims into one of your own. There was no need for sex to multiply.
It was a strange thing for him to consider.
Li Yang cleared his throat. “When I meant that you wish to dominate me, I meant the sexually deviant kind—but yes, I am aware of the beliefs that your people subjugate those with your blood.” He already had a blood pact with Mitsuko before. “But it does not mean that you have to uphold them though.”
“…and why would I not do that?” Elizabeth crossed her arms. “The ones who observe us now know how much trouble you’ve caused me upon your arrival. Nothing good has come out of it.”
“Well, simply because you’ve found no reason to do them?”
“Didn’t you just hear what I said? What an amusing thing to say for someone who is currently at my mercy.” Elizabeth pointed a finger at him. “Do you think that I am benevolent enough to do such a thing like sparing you?”
“… You do seem like someone who has a kind heart, you know?”
“Someone like me?” Elizabeth blinked. “You certainly know how to jest.”
“I’m not,” Li Yang said. “I’d like to think that I did meet someone who understands what I am going through.”
Li Yang was more or less placing a burden of an expectation on her shoulder, which may make her more likely to fulfill it if it worked… or it would just enrage her further. He already knew that there was some kind of ‘Charm’ and ‘Mental Manipulation’ ability that Vampires naturally had, so he doubted the idea of them being all that aware of more indirect methods.
Perhaps, Elizabeth might notice and call him as some manipulator.
But he sincerely doubted it from happening.
Elizabeth’s shadows were not currently in the shape of unnamed monsters but instead was the actual shape of what her shadow might actually be. While the woman’s face was unreadable, somehow, the shadows were enough of a clue to her internal emotions.
Li Yang himself glanced behind the perilous cliffs behind him and then back at Elizabeth’s expression. Not happy, but not murder-happy either. He knew it was improper when he checked out the Map earlier, but he knew that this was his chance to leave.
Whether he succeeded or not in making Elizabeth hesitate from acting him, there was no better opportunity to leave than now. The island that they were on was a place that was both within and outside of the realm of the normal world.
[ Island of Penumbra ]
A remote island hidden from the normal perspective of men and isolated by the gods. During hours of power where the veil between the worlds grows thinner, several objects and even people are pulled into this realm of shadows and are never to be seen again.
Chances of Leaving and Getting Washed Upon A Familiar Shore (52%)
Chances of Leaving And Getting Plunged Into The Depths (35%)
Chances of Returning To The Very Same Island (13%)
Li Yang still had some chewing gum from before, so even if he couldn’t summon Narissa’s Skill to help him with underwater activities, there was a high chance of surviving and using the map.
So even when there were jagged rocks at the bottom, the man was confident about his chances of surviving. He was betting on his luck that he’d end up back in Shanghai again, ripped clothes or not.
That was when Elizabeth made her move.
